Man City have secured the signature of Erling Haaland for a move to the Etihad Stadium, leaving Gabriel Jesus with the option of an exit for a regular playing time.

Also, Man City will be willing to cash in from his sale.

The Londoners have set budgeted about £45 million to give Arteta the striker he craves in the upcoming window.

Arsenal have also considered moves for Everton star Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Man United’s Marcus Rashford. It will not be a surprise if the Gunners fail to pursue another striker.

This is because Eddie Nketiah has agreed a new deal to remain at the Emirates Stadium for another five years after impressive last season.

Sky Sports pundit says Arsenal set to sign one big EPL star but fears there is an issue to talk about

Sky Sports pundit Jay Bothroyd has has described incoming Arsenal player Gabriel Jesus as a ‘top player’ who will ‘definitely’ start ahead of his Arsenal transfer.

Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has already confirmed that the North London outfit have reached full agreement with all parties for the signature of the Brazilian international.

However, Bothroyd said that he has ‘spoken to Arsenal fans’ about Jesus’ soon-to-be signing but noted that there is an issue with his move ahead of next season.

“He’s a top player,” said Bothroyd. “I have spoken to a few Arsenal fans. I am an Arsenal fan myself and all my family are as well.

“The only thing about this signing. I think it’s great for Arsenal. A great squad member and starting player. He is definitely going to start. But I don’t see him as a striker.

“Jesus has said himself that he likes playing from wide areas, so when I have seen him play, he has been more effective by making them runs out to in, behind the centre-backs. He had a great end of the season for Manchester City where he was playing on the right and scoring goals. But I think they need another striker.”

Although Spanish giants Barcelona are also keen on the signature of the Brazilian but they lack the financial strength to fight for him while Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur are also monitoring the situation with Raphinha.

“Barcelona still in contact with Deco after personal terms agreed, but no fresh bid yet.

“Tottenham and Chelsea, still in talks with agents. Race still open.”

However, Arsenal legend Ray Parlour has asked his former club to ensure the signature of the Leeds star, stressing that the Gunners should target Raphinha as Richarlison is ‘inconsitent’ and not as tactically flexible.

‘He (Raphinha) is a top player,’ Parlout told talkSPORT.

‘I think any club will be interested in Raphinha.

‘I think Richarlison is a top player, don’t get me wrong, but I think he’s a little bit inconsistent at times, you’ve got to play him in the right position.

‘But certainly Raphinha, he’s shown that he is a top player and I’m sure lots of clubs will be in for him as well’.

Big Nuno Tavares Arsenal future claim made as pundit drops hints on summer window possibility

Published

on

Noel Whelan has hinted that Nuno Tavares might leave Arsenal this summer on a loan deal but made a big claim that he still has a long-term future at the Emirates Stadium.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Premier League forward explained that the reason why Tavares might be asked to leave temporarily is to find consistent form after a “mixed” debut campaign for Arsenal in 2021-22.

“A loan move shows that there’s not too much faith in a player,” Whelan told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.

“If you are allowing him to move out on loan, that says to me you’re not overly confident that he can give you what you want in the Premier League in the first team, that’s just a given.

“Maybe a loan move is best for the player to build his confidence back up as it was a mixed bag of performances. Some were very good, some were very questionable.

“Arteta saw that. He frustrated him at times because he could see what he could do one week then we saw the worst of him the next week, there was no consistency in performances.

“That’s the question mark that hangs over him. If he can put a string of really good performances together at Marseille and shows his ability consistently then he might have an opportunity next season at Arsenal.

“For now, I think it just proves that he’s not done enough to convince Arteta he is number one choice for a full-back role, it’s not going to happen I think.

“They are doing the right thing, they are not wasting any time, they’re being open and honest and allowing him to get some regular football somewhere else.”

Ambrose told talkSPORT, “I think it’s great for Arteta. He seems to be the only manager that realises there’ll be five substitutes next season.

“If they can get those two signings across the line, Jesus and Raphinha, they’re fantastic signings.

“If you’re Chelsea and Manchester United, where nothing is happening at the moment, just links, you’ve got to be a little bit concerned,” he said.

Arsenal hero tells Arteta what to do next as club expects Gabriel Jesus announcement

Published

Arsenal hero Nigel Winterburn has told Mikel Arteta and his former club that they still need to to buy, buy, buy.

Winterburn wants the club to make another five signings along with Leeds winger Raphinha.

So far, Arsenal have announced Matt Turner, Marquinhos and Fabio Vieira while Gabriel Jesus is expected to be finalized by next week but the Gunners hero said he team still need to do more if they must compete for the title next season.

He told the Daily Express: “Number one has to be a centre-forward, potentially [another signing in the] wide areas.

“Raphinha’s been mentioned but I’d want another central midfield player, the full-back position and potentially another centre-half. We don’t know what’s happening with [William] Saliba.

“He came with a huge reputation, young player, but we haven’t seen him play, he’s gone back out on loan. The rumours are he’s coming back but it seems a very complicated situation and we need to know what’s happening with him.

“If he’s staying and wants to be here, fine, but if not we’ll need another centre-half. So I’d want another centre-half, two full-backs, a central midfielder and a centre-forward.

“Do I think all those will come? No, because it will cost Arsenal too much money.”

Merson reveals the only transfer mistake Mikel Arteta and Arsenal have made this window

Published

on

Paul Merson says Arsenal made a mistake to have handed a new deal to Eddie Nketiah, saying he doesn’t qualify to lear the Gunners attack.

While taking a jab at the player, the former Gunners said Nketiah can’t fire Arsenal back into the top-four, adding that the striker wouldn’t even start for Premier League rivals Fulham or Everton.

Nketiah was handed a new deal in addition to handing him the historic No14 jersey ahead of new season.

‘All Arsenal have got up front right now is Eddie Nketiah, who recently signed a new contract when it looked like he might leave,’ Merson told the Daily Star.

‘And no disrespect to Nketiah but Mikel Arteta must realise he won’t get you into the top four. Absolutely no chance. That’s a fact.

‘Nketiah can’t be spearheading your Champions League push. He’s not getting in ahead of Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Richarlison at Everton and they almost got relegated.

‘He’s not getting in at Fulham ahead of Aleksandr Mitrovic and they’ve only just been promoted. I’m not having a go at him but he’s not getting you top four.’

Meanwhile, Eddie Nketiah has scored a total of 23 goals in 92 appearances since making his first-team debut in 2017.
