United to lose long-term target as Bayern Munich make transfer claim

Published

on

Man United are on the verge of losing their top defensive target, Dayot Upamecano as German Bundesliga outfit Bayern Munich seem to be ahead in his chase.

The Red Devils were linked with a move for defenders as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been told he needs to bring in another world-class defender that will pair Harry Maguire at Old Trafford.

RB Leipzig could be set to resign their fate of keeping defender Dayot Upamecano beyond this summer because of the several interests he is receiving from top clubs in Europe, having delivered an eye-catching performance.

Man United are yet to submit a concrete offer for the star defender and that could cost them with the Bundesliga giants already making big moves to win his chase.

English Premier League title holders, Liverpool have also shown interest in the player especially now that Virgil Van Dijk and Joe Gomez has been injured and will be on the sideline for many weeks.

Bayern Munich chief executive Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has not hidden the wish of the club to sign the defender by stating that “We will of course deal with it, not only with this player but in principle with all the positions where we want and need to do something.”

Asked about a potential transfer agreement, Rummenigge added: “It’s too early for something like that, he’s still a Leipzig player at least until the end of the season.

“But it’s common knowledge that he has a clause in his contract.”

Meanwhile, Rummenigge dismissed claims that the club could cash in on Leroy Sane to fund the move.

“He has a five-year contract,” he said. “That would be nonsense. We need this type of player. Of course, he will stay with Bayern. And I am convinced: He will be a success here.”

Howbeit, Dayot Upamecano recently signed a new deal with RB Leipzig which makes his exit from the club a very difficult decision to make but if that is to happen, the Red will have to break the bank to be able to land him amid the financial downturn being experienced by clubs across the world.

Rangnick might be leaving the door open for Arsenal to land United star with latest development at Old Trafford

Published

on

Latest development at Old Trafford hints that Arsenal could simply land Anthony Martial with less challenge if not well managed by interim manager Ralf Rangnick.

Just recently, Rangnick accused the Frenchman, who is keen to leave the club because of lack of game time, of refusing to be in the squad to play.

Rangnick said “He [Anthony Martial] didn’t want to be in the squad.

“He would have been in the squad normally but he didn’t want to and that was the reason why he didn’t travel with us yesterday.”

In his reaction, Martial hit back at those claims, saying: “I will never refuse to play a match for Manchester United.

“I’ve been here for 7 years and I never disrespected and will never disrespect the club and the fans.”

While the wide-man’s stance seems clear for his future, situations like this could prompt his move whether that ends up being at the Emirates or not.

Arsenal are keen on a forward as they are not sure of the future of Eddie Nketiah and Alexandre Lacazette while Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang may not play for the club again.

Also the fact that Nicolas Pepe has not been at his best with lack of consistent performance makes a move for Martial valid.

Haaland has decided his future after Dortmund, United and Chelsea need to know for action

Published

on

TalkSPORT reporter Alex Crook has claimed that Borussia Dortmund ace Erling Haaland has decided over his future and it is not in favour of Man United and Chelsea.

He claimed the player has made up his mind to join Real Madrid, meaning the Premier League sides must act by looking elsewhere for an alternative.

Erling Haaland has made 18 appearances in all competitions and scored a remarkable 19 goals, while also providing 10 assists, no wonder is is one of the hottest strikers in Europe.

Crook, though, maintains that he has been informed by a source that Haaland will join Los Blancos in what is almost certain to be one of the biggest deals of the summer window.

Per Transfermarkt, Haaland is valued at £135m, although he has a release clause in his contract that means he can be signed for €75m (£62.6m).

Speaking to GiveMeSport, he said: “They want to be part of the conversation when it comes to Erling Haaland, who I think is going to go to Real Madrid, I was told that a while ago.

“If you’re Erling Haaland and you’re speaking to United, you’re saying ‘well, who’s going to be coaching me next season?’ At the moment, they can’t give a definitive answer so I think that’s a problem.”

Journalist tells United they could be about to sign another Paul Pogba with latest link

Published

on

Journalist and Italian football expert Conor Clancy has claimed that Manchester United are just about to sign another Paul Pogba if they complete the move for their target Sergej Milinkovic-Savic.

Sergej Milinkovic-Savic has been tipped to leave Italian Seire A outfit Lazio as he is being linked with a move to Old Trafford.

The highly-rated 26-year-old could finally arrive on English shores this month as he has been linked away long time ago.

However, the Red Devils have been told that he is just another Paul Pogba, hence there might be no need to cash in on his signature.

He told GiveMeSport: “I think Milinkovic-Savic is just another Paul Pogba in that they’ve got the same skill set. They’re physically quite similar. When they’ve got the ball at their feet, they’re capable of doing similar things.”

However, manager Ralf Rangnick could be signing an ideal heir to Pogba in Milinkovic-Savic as Clancy believes the two players have ‘got the same skill set’ but that will be an advantage to the club if the Frenchman is no longer available.

Howbeit, it is yet to be seen if the deal would happen as French outlet L’Equipe (as relayed by Sport Witness), claims that the 28-year-old is still ‘fluctuating’ over whether to renew his contract in Manchester – which expires at the end of the season – or leave.

Man United are also not alone as Liverpool and Man City have also been linked with a bid for Bellingham.

If Man United is able to wait until the summer, they must be able to meet his asking price and more to that, the club must be in the Champions League next season to be able to convince the player for a move.

Man United, Arsenal handed major boost in chase of Bundesliga after club made a decision

Manchester United and Arsenal have been handed a major transfer boost in their pursuit of Borussia Monchengladbach star Denis Zakaria as the club’s sporting director Max Eberl made it clear that he can leave.

Both Arsenal and United have been linked with the midfielder as they are both in need of an addition.

Eberl has admitted that Zakaria is free to depart this month, leaving the suitors with the opportunity of submitting a bid.

“There’s nothing on my desk,” the Gladbach sporting director told Kicker.

“It’s not surprising that there is speculation about both of them and especially Denis, but it’s no longer our topic.

“They both still have a half year of contract. But we have also said again and again that if something comes up that we have to deal with for financial reasons.

“I cannot rule out that both will leave the club in winter – or one. There will be changes in the summer. We’ve worked with one squad for almost three years now.”

Interestingly, Zakaria was left out of the Gladbach squad that suffered a 2-1 defeat to Bayer Leverkusen on Saturday.

Mikel Arteta made it clear that his team is short in the midfield and he is keen to add more depth to his squad.

What Dortmund chief said about Haaland’s claim about his future

Published

on

Borussia Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc has claimed to be “surprised” by in-demand star striker Erling Haaland’s comments about his future.

The Norwegian striker had admitted he was under pressure over his future at Signal Iduna Park, amid a scramble for his signature.

He currently has two years remaining on his current deal at Dortmund, but the 22-year-old had to speak out as he is wanted by European giants, including Man United, Chelsea and Manchester City.

“Erling’s statements surprised us a bit,” Zorc said, speaking to Kicker.

“There is currently no deadline, no deadlines, and there have not even been any discussions. But that we want and have to have talks at some point is clear, understandable and only professional.”

Recall that Haaland had said: “Well, the last six months I have chosen not to say anything out of respect for Dortmund, but now the club has started to press me into making a decision, but all I want to do, is play football.

“But they press me to make a decision now about my future. So that means I have to make a decision soon.

“As I said they have put a lot of pressure on me and I have to accept that. I have chosen not to say anything out of respect for my club and the fans. But now it says itself that a lot of pressure is coming from the club, so now is the time to get things started.

“Yeah, that is what they want [for me] to decide future. It means that things will happen now. I have said from the beginning that I want to focus on football because that is when I am at my best.

“Not when other things come into my mind. They have put pressure [on] for a while. So it is time to get started [negotiating].”

Man United told the gamble to take on next manager

Published

on

Paul Merson has advised Manchester United to snub the big-name candidates to become their next manager and take a gamble on Brighton’s Graham Potter.

United must appoint a permanent manager by the end of the season after sacking Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and appointing Ralf Rangnick on an interm basis.

A number of names have been linked but Merson wants someone who is proving a point already in the EPL.

Mereson told Sky Sports: ‘I’m a big fan of his, he plays brilliant football. If I was Manchester United I’d be watching Potter. The way they play their football, they haven’t got the quality of Manchester United players and they play this great football.

‘If I was Manchester United I would be monitoring. I’d be thinking why not go for him. They won’t because he’s not a name. It’s as simple as that.

‘The fans will go ‘what are we getting someone from Brighton for?’ But for me I think he was outstanding.’

Meanwhile, PSG manager Mauricio Pochettino has been mentioned as a strong candidate for the job as he also keen to part ways with the French giants at the end of the season but that is only subject to the decision by the club and what is obtainable at that time.

Rangnick makes another claim on the future of Donny van de Beek, Dean Henderson

Published

on

Man United interim manager Ralf Rangnick has had to speak again on the future of Donny van de Beek and Dean Henderson at the club as both players are keen to leave because of the lack of playing time.

Ralf Rangnick in his recent interview reiterated that he is keen to retain the services of the two players despite their lack of involvement this term.

“I’m glad to have him in the squad. He came on for the last 15, 20 minutes against Villa in the cup game and he did well,” Rangnick told reporters when asked about Van de Beek.

“I had a conversation with him a few weeks ago after training… I told him that I would advise him to stay until the end of the season. And then, of course, with the World Cup coming up in the winter, he wants to play in the World Cup for his country.

“I can understand his wish and desire to play – on the other hand, we have a lot of competition in our squad exactly in those positions.”

Meanwhile, when asked about Henderson and a potential exit, Rangnick responded: “I told him that I would like him to stay because he is a fantastic goalkeeper.

“I would really like to have him on board… I can fully understand that he wants to play because he is at an age where, as a goalkeeper, you should regularly play, but on the other hand, we are still in three competitions, and therefore we need the two and three goalkeepers we have right now.

“I told him that I can understand his desire to get regular game time as a number one elsewhere in the Premier League.”
