Tuchel reignites Chelsea’s interest in Alaba after Romano’s claim

From all indications, West London outfit Chelsea will still continue their chase of Bayern Munich versatile defender, David Alaba as their new manager Thomas Tuchel is reported to be a big fan of the Austria international.

Former Blues manager, Frank Lampard, before his sack was believed to be keen on the signature of David Alaba for the summer transfer window and it is expected that the agenda would be pursued by his successor.

Popular football journalist Fabrizio Romano on The Si Phillips Talks Chelsea Podcast has revealed that “Tuchel is a big fan of Alaba” and Chelsea are “one of the 5 clubs in talks to sign him.”

There are also speculations that Alaba looks closer to Real Madrid and Romano actually admits that a deal has been agreed, but nothing has been signed and it has not been completed yet.

But he stated that “anything can still happen” with this one.

Reacting to speculations on his future, David Alaba earlier stated that “I heard it like everyone else on the news. I cannot say how it will continue from this point,” Alaba told reporters ahead of Bayern Munich’s Champions League match against Red Bull Salzburg.

“I am glad to be playing for Bayern and to be a part of the team. But what the future will look like after yesterday evening I just cannot say, as no one has talked to me officially.”

The 28-year-old also expressed his disappointment that Bayern Munich didn’t dispel media reports over wage demands, commenting: “I can completely understand the fans. I wish internal stuff would stay internal. The numbers out there do not correspond to reality and I am a bit disappointed and sad that the club never officially came out to say they are wrong.”

Bayern Munich gave their own side of the story, saying “We submitted to David and his advisor some time ago what we think was a very good offer,” the Bayern Munich president said

“During the last meeting we had said we wanted clarity by the end of October. We did not hear anything until yesterday and we contacted his advisor. The answer was that the offer was still unsatisfactory and we should think about it again. We then decided to take the offer completely off the table. This means there is no longer an offer.”

Arteta hints on why David Luiz isn’t leaving Arsenal anytime soon

Arsenal boss has been full of praise for Brazilian international, David Luiz which gives an hint that he would not be leaving the club anytime soon.

Owing to his age and his level at the moment, it was expected that the former Chelsea defender would be signing out of the Emirates Stadium in the summer but that wasn’t the case.

The fact that the North London outfit now boast of younger defenders, including Gabriel Magalhaes, Rob Holdings and on loan William Saliba, makes pundits speculate a shorter spell for Luiz, rather, Mikel Arteta has showered praise on him as a role model to the younger ones.

Also, David Luiz has been described as a liability, a blundering Brazilian prone to game-changing errors, Mikel Arteta has some sweet words for him.

“They listen to him because of who he is and what he has done in the game,” Arteta said. “But also because of how he behaves every day, how professional he is and how he goes about the job. He is one of the key role models.”

“Even at this age he is always looking at his games and clips, all the time asking questions. When that happens you can still improve as a player and I think that’s why he is performing the way he is.

“He is a really honest man with himself. He has won everything and it is a joy to work with him.”
There have been no formal discussions over a new contract yet, although Arteta says they are in a “good position” as they talk “all the time about this kind of thing”.

He added that “This season has been really tough in the beginning because he’s been through some injuries but he’s kept at it, he understood his role, he knows his role in the team, he’s one of our leaders and he’s so willing to keep improving”

Asked if he spoke to Luiz about an extension, Arteta replied: ‘No, there are still a few months to go on that. I all the time talk to him about this kind of thing so we’re in a good position.

“He showed his character first of all with the decision he made to join the club when he was with a club where he was winning trophies and he was still comfortable and under contract.

“And he wanted a challenge. And at that age it tells you everything because normally at that age the challenge is not sporting but more a financial decision that you take to go to a different country.”

Thiago Silva has barely stayed with Chelsea for a year but he is already attracting interests from his country home, Brazil as his childhood club, Fluminense wants him back.

Fluminense manager Marco issued a transfer plea to Thiago Silva to join the club as soon as his contract with the Blues expires at the end of the season.

Thiago had a youth career with the Brazilian outfit before graduating to their senior team, He later left for AC Milan in January 2009.

Marco was signed by Fluminense to replace Odair Hellmann and wants to work with his former teammate, having played together in the Brazilian outfit.

Marco shared details of a text message conversation between the pair in which the Chelsea defender hinted he could return to assist him in the future.

Right on time, he [Silva] saw the message and said: ‘I’m going there to assist you,” Marco revealed in a press conference on Wednesday, as reported by Globo Esporte.

“I said: ‘Hey! Not as an assistant, come to play here, come to help us, you’ll be very welcome’. A great affection, we exchange messages every day.

“Somehow, we help out there. And in the same way, he helps here. God willing, soon he’ll be here with us too, being able to help on the pitch.”

Meanwhile, Silva could be staying at Chelsea beyond this season after admitting last month that he hopes to earn an extended deal to his one-year contract, having had an impactful stay so far.

“I have learned in [a lot of different competitions] and I use it to help young players.

“This is my first experience in the Premier League. I hope to continue to play well and that my contract will be renewed.”

The 36-year-old joined Chelsea on a free transfer after his contract at Paris Saint-Germain expired at the end of last season. He signed a one-year contract with an option to extend for a further year.

He has formed a great partnership with the defender and the Blues are already thinking of an extension.

“I’ve seen the reports and there is an option in Thiago’s contract that we can look at as the season goes on.

“Obviously the way he is playing at the minute we are very happy, so that’s the end of it really. I’m surprised it’s come out in that way.”

Chelsea player put big clubs on transfer alert

Antonio Rudiger seems to be having his last days at Stamford Bridge with the West London outfit Chelsea with claims that the club have made up their mind to sell him in summer transfer.

This development has placed a lot of clubs on alert, including Serie A duo, AC Milan, and Juventus, alongside Spanish La Liga giants Barcelona. The mentioned clubs have got a concrete interest in him.

However, the Spanish giants seem to be favorites in the chase of Antonio Rudiger as he is interested in a new challenge, away from what he has known in the past. He wants a bigger and thinks Barcelona can offer him that challenge.

Antonio Rudiger has had an experience of the Italian Serie A, having played with AS Roma. The league might no longer be attractive to the Blues player anymore.

Chelsea want £18 million for the star player who is already in the market ahead of the summer transfer window. He could bid goodbye after four years at the Stamford Bridge.

However, the Blues seem to be making efforts to keep Antonio Rudiger at the club for more years as he hinted that something has been happening as it relates to his stay.

“I’m satisfied with how the situation has developed in the past weeks, now I see myself as a permanent part of the team. I had a tough time, so I also checked other transfer options but I received positive signals from the coaching team.”

Should Antonio Rudiger leave Chelsea in the summer transfer window, he would be remembered for his role in convincing Timo Werner to join the Blues in the summer transfer window.

The centre-half has also been impressed with how quickly his fellow countryman has settled in the Premier League.
“The league has accepted Timo really well,’ Rudiger said.

“Timo integrated into the team and the league very quickly. He can use his speed very well, causes defenders huge problems and exudes confidence all the time.”

Meanwhile, Antonio Rudiger’s choice of a move will depend on his chances of playing in the Champions League as well as the playing time that would be handed to him at the prospective new club.

He seeks to be relevant at the international team and will do all it takes to keep playing to be able to get a place in the Dutch national team ahead of the European competitions coming up.
