Transfer: Latest Cristiano Ronaldo transfer claim will hit United fans

Published

There have been reports that Man United are interested in the return of Cristiano Ronaldo to Old Trafford following claims that he is on the verge of leaving Italian Serie A giants Juventus.

The 36-year-old has 12 months left from his Juventus contract and there has not been talks of a new deal that sparked talks of a return after he departed Old Trafford.

However, Ronaldo’s Juventus teammate Danilo have hit United fans with his comment over the possible move of the former Real Madrid gaffer back to the English Premier League.

Danilo claimed the forward would “still be with us next season”

“We don’t need to talk about a transfer and Juventus do not want to sell him. We’re talking about a player who scored 36 goals in 44 games last season.

“We’re very happy that Ronaldo will be with the squad after his holiday.”

No doubt that Ronaldo will not make any decision in a hurry after a disappointing Euro 2020 where Portugal were eliminated at the round of 16 stage by Belgium.

The Portugal skipper boasts of five goals at the tournament but that was not enough to help his country home retain their European Championship crown.

Last season was also not a good one for the star player as Juventus finished fourth placed, meaning the fall from grace and ended nine years of successive Serie A titles.

Man United will have to be convincing enough to be able to convince Ronaldo of a return and that will be the wish of the fans to have him back as they look forward to a title win next season.

Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been working round the clock to bring in big names that can help deliver a title next season. The signing of Jadon Sancho is another big statement from the club that they are willing to spend big to win.

Experienced legend, Danny Murphy has listed the six clubs he thinks can win the Champions League this season.

His list include title holders Chelsea, Manchester City and Liverpool. However, Manchester United was not mentioned.

Danny Murphy predicts English clubs could be a dominant force in Europe this campaign, with Chelsea hoping to defend the title they won after beating Manchester City in last season’s champions league final.

For Liverpool, they reached successive Champions League finals in 2018 and 2019 and would be eager to challenge for another this seasonn.

Danny Murphy insists Manchester City are one of the favorites as with Chelsea, Liverpool, Bayern Munich, PSG and Atletico Madrid.

Asked which teams he expects to challenge for the Champions League title, Murphy told MailSport:

“I personally think the winners will come from one of six – Manchester City, Liverpool, Chelsea, Bayern Munich and PSG.

“Atletico are an outsider because Diego Simeone has matchwinners in Luis Suarez and Griezmann in addition to the remarkable team spirit he’s fostered.”

Why Man Utd may not win trophy

Rio Ferdinand, has said the Manchester United inexperience could stop themfrom winning the Champions League this season.

Man United manager has brought in Cristiano Ronaldo, Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane this summer, as he seeks to win his first title at Old Trafford.

However, the team have not won any silverware since the Europa League final in 2017.

Their rivals, Liverpool and Chelsea have won both the Premier League and Champions League while Manchester City have won last season’s fina, their third league title in four years under experienced coach Pep Guardiola.

“I think Man United’s not a problem, but where they’re behind the other three English teams, is the experience of winning things.

“All the other three English teams have won things, whether it be the Champions League or the Premier League. Man United have yet to do that as this group.

“That’s where they are lacking, and that’s where they’ve got to play catch up and they’ve got to do that this season. The transfer window for them has been impeccable, but that’s got to translate into trophies,” Ferdinand told BT Sport.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, has lambasted his side following a 2-1 defeat to Young Boys on yesterday.

Manchester United began their Champions League campaign with a shock loss to Young Boys.

The Red Devil took the lead when Cristiano Ronaldo scored his third goal since he returned to Old Trafford.

Later on, the game turned around after Aaron Wan-Bissaka received a straight red card for his challenge on Christopher Martins.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, has lay blames on his team following a 2-1 defeat to Young Boys on Tuesday.

The Switzerland side eventually drew level, thanks to Moumi Ngameleu’s strike.

The match should have been a draw but Lingard tried to find David de Gea but his pass found Theoson Siebatcheu.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has seriously warned his squad that they must learn from their mistakes if they are to avoid an early exit from the championship competition.

“A lack of concentration, you make a mistake and you get done. We did that last year, conceding two sloppy counter-attacks against Basaksehir and lost that game in the last seconds today.

“So we know we’ve given ourselves a more difficult task. We did last year when everyone thought we were through after two games.

“You need 10 or 12 points: win your home games and one away from home. We’ve lost the opportunity to get three points, but we’ve got two home games next and got to focus on those two,” Solskjaer said after the game.
