Transfer journalist reveals Liverpool’s effort to beat Chelsea for 28-year-old Bundesliga star

Published

Popular transfer journalist, Fabrizio Romano has revealed that English Premier League title holders, Liverpool are making moves to beat Chelsea for the signature of David Alaba from Bundesliga outfit Bayern Munich.

The West London outfit have been linked with the signature of the Austria international and it was claimed that they have held talks with his representatives about a possible move to Stamford Bridge at the end of the season but now, the Reds are making efforts to win the race.

David Alaba will be free to leave the Allianz Arena at the end of the season when his contract expires, as he wants to depart after 12 years spell at Bayern Munich. He is now free to talk to clubs for a possible deal and that is expected to happen before the end of the January winter transfer window.

However, Spanish La Liga giants, Real Madrid are leading in the race for David Alaba but manager Jurgen Klopp is not giving up on the chances of landing the Bundesliga star at Anfield.

While Liverpool have contacted David Alaba’s representatives as well, Real Madrid have made an initial proposal to the Austria international’s representatives as they are keen to replace Sergio Ramos, whose future at the Santiago Bernabeu is uncertain.

Romano also revealed that there are no possibilities of a move for David Alaba in January as he wants to see out his contract with the German outfit.

David Alaba has been described by Man City manager, Pep Guardiola as ‘God’ in the past when the former Bayern Munich boss piled praises on him when he was in charge of the German outfit. This is because the player plays almost all ten outfield positions during his reign at the club.

The Spaniard said: ‘David Alaba is our God! He has already played almost all 10 positions.’

Before now, Bayern Munich chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge was keen to know David Alaba’s decision about his future as the club are also willing to keep him for more years.

“I don’t know [if Alaba will leave],” he told Sport Bild. “We had a meeting two weeks ago with his father George and his advisor Pini Zahavi.

“The conversation was okay, the atmosphere was alright. But I have to say, we’ve been going in circles for months. At some point we have to start planning for the new season. We have to know: Will David stay with FC Bayern or not? A decision is important to us.” He had said in November 2020.

What Paul Merson, manager said about Arsenal’s likely next signing

Arsenal hero Paul Merson and England boss Gareth Southgate have both spoken the praise of Arsenal’s latest summer target Jarrod Bowen.

Arsenal are said to have enquired about Jarrod Bowen from West Ham United after he was influential for the Hammers last season, contributing 31 times in scoring or assisting goals across all competitions.

Paul Merson described the 25-year-old as “outstanding” when discussing him earlier this year: “He’s an outstanding player and has gone from strength to strength since swapping Hull City for West Ham – I can’t believe it took so much time for Gareth Southgate to call him up!

“When West Ham have a big game coming up, he’s a player – along with Declan Rice – who gets rested and that just shows how much he’s grown in stature. Come to think of it, he reminds me of a forward version of James Milner – reliable, honest and works his socks off for the team.”

Manager Gareth Southgate was also full of praise for the versatile forward, outlining why he would fit perfectly at Arsenal: “I think Jarrod adapted really well, he looked dangerous from the start.

“He probably had most of our attempts on goal, couldn’t quite find that final bit of quality to actually steer the finishes past the keeper but his runs were dangerous, he pressed with endeavour for the team and so I’m sure he’ll be really pleased with the way he has done.”

“He flies into tackles no matter what his problem with his knee is which might be the problem.

“But he’s one of those people who just loves playing the game. He absolutely adores playing football.

“Moving to Arsenal he’s secured his future. It’s a big statement to go down to Arsenal and be one of their best players. That’s a huge statement and he did that.

“I’ve got nothing but praise for Kieran because he’s such a good pro. When he gets fit he’s the best in the business so I think they’ll give him more time. “

Frankie de Jong finally speaks on reports that he’s joining Man United

Frenkie de Jong has reacted to reports that he is joining Man United by stating that he is ‘flattered’ by the rumoured interest.

The 25-year-old is Erik ten Hag’s top target to bolster the Red Devils’ midfield but he had earlier refused to consider a move to Old Trafford.

Now it is understood that he is opened to a move to England but has insisted that he has no update on a potential transfer and remains happy at Barcelona.

United will have to table as much as £70million – roughly the same fee they paid to Ajax three years ago to sign the midfielder.

However, the Netherlands international appears to have opened the door to a potential move to the Premier League, even though he is happy to remain at Barca.

Speaking after an excellent display in his nation’s dramatic win over Wales on Tuesday night in Rotterdam, De Jong said of United’s approach: ‘You’re always flattered when teams show interest in you as a player.

‘But, as you say, I am at the biggest club in the world at the moment and I feel fine there, so no news.’

De Jong is largely remaining coy on the speculation surrounding his future and burst out laughing on Sunday when asked if he would be swapping the beaches of Catalunya for the cold of Manchester, saying: ‘No, I can’t say anything.’

A week earlier, he had underlined his desire to stay at Camp Nou, telling ESPN: ‘Barcelona is just my dream club, even from a young age.

‘I’ve never regretted my choice despite the fact that I had hoped for more in terms of prizes than I’ve achieved so far. But I have never regretted my choice.’

Ten Hag shocks everyone with decision to keep this players at Old Trafford as summer transfer nears

New Man United manager has been tipped to begin work in the summer which starts with a major overhauling of the team.

Juan Mata is one player everyone expects to leave Old Trafford as age is no longer on his side but that won’t happen on Erik ten Hag’s terms, according to reports.

The 34-year-old is out of contract in the summer, with no new deal agreed with the Spaniard as of yet.

Now reports claim Erik ten Hag wants him to remain at Old Trafford for another season.

Mata now has talks planned with new United boss Ten Hag, with a decision yet to be made over his future.

The midfielder confirmed to The Athletic there is a ‘conversation pending’ with the Dutch coach, who is set to meet the squad on Monday.

‘I will see when we speak how we feel, what his ideas are, after that a decision will be made,’ Mata added.

On the reasons why he signed a one-year extension last summer, Mata said: ‘First because I love the club, second because I hoped I could give much more on the pitch than I ended up doing, and third because last season was horrible for me, for many reasons, especially because of the passing of my mum

‘It wasn’t an easy season at all with the pandemic and that personal tragedy. I didn’t want to end my career at Manchester United that way, without fans in the stadium, with all that I have lived over the last months.

‘I am gonna be very honest, when we made the signings we made [last summer] I genuinely felt, “We are gonna really compete to win the Premier League now”. That’s why I renewed, I wanted to be part of that.

‘One of the things I always say: winning a massive trophy with Manchester United would be an incredible feeling after being here for so many years, knowing the fans and everyone working in the club like I do.’

Veteran Dutch coach Aad de Mos has stated that the big hint that Erik ten Hag’s stay at Ajax has come to an end is that he has lost his dressing room.

Ajax lost the Dutch Cup final on Sunday as Ten Hag is understood to be willing to leave for Manchester United at the end of the season

Erik ten Hag has reportedly impressed Man United ahead of Mauricio Pochettino who was also linked earlier on.

De Mos told Eindhovens Dagblad: “Ten Hag has lost his way a bit.

“He has to be careful after these series of results, because I think the dressing room at Ajax is really sick. He has of course taken risks.

“The Ihattaren substitution also turned out completely wrong. Ten Hag is losing players in the dressing room.

“Since (sporting director Marc) Overmars left, he no longer wins a game, the football is completely gone.”

Should Man United announce Erik ten Hag, he would be charged with the responsibility of raising the team to be able to challenge for the title next season.

Tottenham urged to immediately sell this player to United for this reason

Published

Spurs insider John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about Tottenham on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels has urged the club not to hesitate over selling Steven Bergwijn to Man United this summer.

The Red Devils are understood to be linked with the winger with claims that Erik ten Hag, who is on the verge of becoming United’s manager is a big fan.

Wenham claims Spurs would not be strengthening a rival if Bergwijn was to move to Old Trafford.

“If they are going to offer the money then I have no issues selling to them,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“I have seen him in the Premier League and I would still sell him in the summer as I have said many, many times.

“I think we can make some money on him. Man United’s potential interest could lead to Ajax coming forward earlier with an offer.

“There is the Ten Hag link but I still see him joining Ajax this summer. I have no interest in this ‘selling to a rival’ thing.

“I imagine the club would just be happy to sell him, it’s not like he instantly weakens us and makes them so much stronger.

“We deemed him not good enough for us, so if they want to pay the money then fine.”
