Tottenham given Liverpool Jordan Henderson advice

Published

Jamie O’Hara has urged Tottenham to secure the signature of Jordan Henderson whose future at Liverpool is unclear.

Contract talks have stalled with the Reds and that sense an end to his stay at Anfield.

Speaking in a segment with TalkSPORT, as cited by The Spurs Web (h/t Liverpool Echo), former Tottenham Hotspur player Jamie O’Hara said he will love love to see Tottenham hijack the deal.

He said “He’s a leader. A character on the pitch. He’s a driving force in midfield. I would absolutely love him to be at Spurs.”

However, Craig Burley says he is not expecting to see Jordan Henderson leave Liverpool FC this summer.

Speaking to ESPN FC, Burley said of Henderson’s future: “I don’t see a scenario where he leaves.

“He’s got such a good rapport with everyone there. When he went in there, there were questions about whether he was good enough for Liverpool but he stepped up big time.

“He had a couple of tiffs with the manager but not many. I don’t see where he goes at this stage of his career. It would come down to a few extra thousand here or there. You’d imagine at this time of his career, it’s not about the money.”

On the contrary, Danny Murphy said it wouldn’t be a surprise if Jordan Henderson ends up leaving Liverpool.

Murphy said: “From being someone who was once bit-part and couldn’t quite get in under Brendan [Rodgers], to then being the mainstay of the team; becoming a leader, becoming the first captain of Liverpool to win the Premier League in 30 years, to take the team to a Champions League final and to actually elevate his game to a point where the admiration was coming from everywhere and deservedly so.

“I think he’s very unique Jordan, he’s someone who can still play at the latter stages of his career, still play in different positions equally as well. He can play that holding role brilliantly [if] Fabinho isn’t there, putting out fires, he can play on the front foot and press.”

Murphy told talkSPORT: “I don’t think there will ever be a problem with Jordan sorting out a contract with Liverpool, I don’t think we’ll get to some problematic area of this, it’ll just be smooth and seamless – it always is with players who are appreciated.

“I think Jordan will see out his career at Liverpool no problem.

“It wouldn’t surprise me if he went and done his coaching route maybe within the club, he’s a part of the foundation now, he’s been there that long, he’s basically an adopted [scouser], he’s one of their own. He’s become ingratiated with the ethos of the club, so I think he’ll be there a long time. I don’t see it coming to an end soon.”

Experienced legend, Danny Murphy has listed the six clubs he thinks can win the Champions League this season.

His list include title holders Chelsea, Manchester City and Liverpool. However, Manchester United was not mentioned.

Danny Murphy predicts English clubs could be a dominant force in Europe this campaign, with Chelsea hoping to defend the title they won after beating Manchester City in last season’s champions league final.

For Liverpool, they reached successive Champions League finals in 2018 and 2019 and would be eager to challenge for another this seasonn.

Danny Murphy insists Manchester City are one of the favorites as with Chelsea, Liverpool, Bayern Munich, PSG and Atletico Madrid.

Asked which teams he expects to challenge for the Champions League title, Murphy told MailSport:

“I personally think the winners will come from one of six – Manchester City, Liverpool, Chelsea, Bayern Munich and PSG.

“Atletico are an outsider because Diego Simeone has matchwinners in Luis Suarez and Griezmann in addition to the remarkable team spirit he’s fostered.”

How Liverpool fans react to Callum’s transfer rumours

Chelsea star, Callum Hudson-Odoi has been tipped to leave the Stamford Bridge before the transfer window shuts and Liverpool fans have been discussing the prospect of the winger heading to Anfield.

Jurgen Klopp has only made one signing and Reds supporters are still hoping there will be a last-gasp addition of Chelsea winger Callum Hudson-Odoi, who has been mentioned as a possible option for Jurgen Klopp’s side.

The England winger has gone down the pecking order in Thomas Tuchel’s squad and could move away from Stamford Bridge before the deadline passes.

Learning of the interest and possible move, the fans have gushed to the social media to talk about it.

Some believe he would be a solid acquisition.

@indykalia: “Anyone think Callum Hudson-Odoi would be perfect for Liverpool?”

@kop_for_ever: “At this point our fanbase will say yes to any forward other than Origi”

@okekemezie1: “He is good. Just needs to find a good environment and coach for him. Remember two years ago Bayern wanted to pay big money for him, [they] wanted him badly.”

@SamuelLFC: “I’d take any attacker at this point”

@LFCryan_: “Would be a great signing. Being used poorly by Chelsea and I still believe has the talent to be one of Englands best players in the future. When he was a youth player he was miles ahead of the other players.”

However, a number of Reds fans are unsure as to whether or not Hudson-Odoi is the right kind of profile.

@KopDXB19: “Doesn’t suit our system as he plays in Mo [ Salah ]’s position. He prefers to go on the outside and get crosses in for a type of striker we just don’t have!”

@AndrewH48696976: “Personally I would prefer we make a big offer for Raphinha (now that Leeds are signing Dan James). Raphinha more a Liverpool type player with pace, dribbling skills and can finish.”

@medical_photo: “If he can’t get near Chelsea’s first 11 how on earth would he get near Liverpool’s? He needs to go to someone like Southampton and play 30 – 40 games in a row so it can be seen if he is a player with real potential or a player who used to have potential.”

@JpNOkwuba: ” Is he different, or better than Ox? I feel we should go for a player capable of going straight into the team, a player that can confidently play instead of Mane or Salah. I’m not sure that player is Odoi.”

Liverpool given big transfer mandate, could be next season

Former Spurs boss Tim Sherwood has urged Liverpool to be in the race for Tottenham forward Harry Kane next season.

Harry Kane was linked with a move this summer transfer window but that did not happen. Reports had linked him with a move to Man City but the Etihad team seem not to be interested anymore.

The England international has now been tipped to still make the move in the coming summer transfer window.

Harry Kane has a asking price of £150 million but Daniel Levy is unwilling to lower it for the 28-year-old.

Sherwood is now suggesting that Liverpool could be an option for the forward as a move could happen next summer window.

“For me, it looks like it might be now or never,” he said on Sky Sports.

“Harry Kane, at the end of next season, I think he stays there for the whole season, even though he said that he is staying ‘for this summer’.

“Other teams, like Man City probably go for Erling Haaland now. On a £70 million buy, so that blocks the pathway. He won’t leave for leaving sake.

“He will leave because he needs to go to a club where he knows they can win.

“Now, that’s probably Liverpool in the Premier League, Manchester United, Manchester City or Chelsea. It won’t be Chelsea now because they have signed Romelu Lukaku.

“I can see him staying there for the remainder of his career.

“That could be the only one, couldn’t it? Man United because Ronaldo isn’t going to be there forever.”

Kane made his first Premier League start of the season on Sunday as Tottenham continued their perfect start to the campaign with a 1-0 win over Watford. He was expected to push for a move away from the North London club but he did not.
