Tammy Abraham ‘fits the bill’ as an Arsenal signing, says Winterburn

Published

With Arsenal interested in the signature of Chelsea striker, Tammy Abraham, they have been told by their hero, Nigel Winterburn that the England international fits the profile of a potential signing for the club.

Tammy Abraham looks set to leave Chelsea this summer as the Blues continue their pursuit of Erling Haaland. He is also out of favour at the club with lack of playing time. He earned 22 Premier League appearances last term, scoring six goals which is not enough for him.

Reacting to the news, Winterburn said (via Goal): “He certainly would fit the bill of recent Arsenal signings, young with a point to prove.

“People will question his consistency but what you want is for these young players to get a run in the team.

“Is he going to get a run in a team if Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is playing well? Probably not unless Aubameyang can be switched to the left-hand side – although you then need to leave out either Nicolas Pepe or Bukayo Saka.

“With Abraham, there’s potential there and development for a young, young player. So, I think it’s an option [for] Arsenal, although with Alexandre Lacazette being linked with a move away, it could be just a name that has been thrown into a hat.”

He will replace French striker, Alexandre Lacazette who is also opened to leaving the Emirates Stadium for £15 million after scoring 17 goals in all competitions last season.

When asked about Lacazette, Winterburn continued: “Arsenal shouldn’t sell Lacazette unless they’ve got an upgrade in place. I wouldn’t let him go until we have secured another striker. I’ve said that all along.

“Lacazette is a different striker to anything Arsenal have at the club. When he’s in top form, he holds the ball up well, his link-up play is good.

“I suppose his strike rate is not the very, very best of what you want, but then we are not at the very, very top of the league either at the moment as well.

“So personally, at the moment, I don’t want to see him go, unless we’ve got someone coming in that’s going to excite me.

“I wouldn’t let him go and then we haven’t got anybody else to bring in. For me, that’s just way too risky.”

He’s been linked with a surprise move across London. Reports have suggested Arsenal are monitoring his situation and could make an offer if Chelsea decide to leave him leave.

Jamie O’Hara apologized after making exit call for this Arsenal star

Published

on

Former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Jamie O’Hara has apologised to Arsenal star William Saliba for previously asking the North London outfit to sell him this summer.

Saliba has just returned from a loan spell at Marseille and gave a good impression during the preseason but that was not enough to convince the former player-turned pundit.

“Who?” O’Hara said on TalkSPORT when asked about Saliba earlier this month. “I mean you’re asking me about players, I have no interest in Arsenal whatsoever.

“If you have loaned him out and he has been there three seasons, you’ve loaned him out twice (then) he obviously ain’t (sic) good enough. Get rid of him.”

But after watching the Frenchman deliver a Man of The Match performance against Crystal Palace and another one against Leicester City, he owned up to his error and apologized.

Speaking about the former Marseille loanee on talkSPORT, he said: “I wasn’t sure of him because he’d gone out on loan, I hadn’t seen him play loads. I was thinking maybe he wasn’t up to scratch to play for this team.

“And I’ll apologise, I absolutely got that wrong. He is the real deal, what a signing.

“What a player he is and I know that he’s young but he could be sensational. He’s still got things to work on, like his positioning, but he looks really, really good.”

Liverpool tipped to snap up top Arsenal target as Gunners delay move

Published

on

Former Arsenal and Everton striker Kevin Campbell has tipped Liverpool to make a move for top Arsenal target Youri Tielemans this summer transfer window.

He noted that Youri Tielemans would be interested if Liverpool decided to make an offer as he is keen on exiting Leicester City.

Arsenal have made their interest known but have delayed making a move for the midfielder as time continues to tick

Meanwhile, Liverpool are in dire need of midfielders. Thiago Alcantara’s recent injury against Fulham adds him to the list of injured midfielders along with Curtis Jones and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

Also the Merseyside club are yet to replace Georginio Wijnaldum since his move to Paris Saint-Germain in the summer of 2021.

No doubt, a player like Youri Tielemans, who is almost injury-free all the time and with consistent performances to boot would be welcomed at Anfield.

The 25 year old Belgian is into the last year of his contract at Leicester City. He has been linked to the Reds in the past as well.

“When you look at Thiago, his game and what he brings to Liverpool, Tielemans could go someway to replacing that. Thiago brings craft to that Liverpool midfield. Tielemans brings that as well”

Kevin Campbell reveals Arsenal linked with another winger, but he’s not carried away, gives reasons

Published

Arsenal have been linked with Bayer Leverkusen winger Moussa Diaby, one of the finest players in the Bundesliga.

Moussa Diaby is another name that has been mentioned outside Yeremy Pino of Villarreal as the Gunners continue to search for a winger that would replace Nicolas Pepe.

However, Kevin Campbell says he will not be carried away by the hype around the player ad he gives reasons.

When asked by Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs if Diaby would be an upgrade on the potentially departing Pepe at the Emirates, Campbell said: “You could say that.

“You never really know until they come in though.

“One thing we have do know is that Moussa Diaby is very direct and very skilful. He is a real creator. He can go both way, inside and outside.

“It looks like he tracks back and does the dirty work as well. That is what can be levelled at Pepe. He is good going forward but the other side of his game is lacking intensity.

“Diaby is a good player but you never really know until they come in. He has been coveted by a few clubs. [Mikel] Arteta and Edu do their homework.”

Fans already happy with this man at Arsenal but he’s been warned anything can happen if…

While players continue to exit and join Arsenal, manager Mikel Arteta is another name that could be mentioned as an exit from the Emirates Stadium, according to former player William Gallas if he fails to deliver top four finish.

The Gunners have gone beyond the £100million mark yet again with acquisitions of former Manchester City duo Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko.

This therefore means that expectations have been raised and a 2-0 win at Crystal Palace in their Premier League opener and another against Leicester City has seen Arsenal touted by many as qualifiers for next season’s Champions League.

But if that doesn’t happen, William Gallas said he Arteta could be sacked.

Speaking to Genting Casino, the Frenchman explained: “Of course he will be in big trouble if they don’t make top four. Arteta has been asked to make the top four and he didn’t do it last season. If Arsenal don’t play in the Champions League next season, it would cause a lot of drama.

“They have to have a great season, possibly win the Premier League, at least qualify for the Champions League. They have just bought new players, it’s in the hands of Arteta and the players.

“It will be a big problem for all of them if they don’t do their job to qualify in the Champions League.”

Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has disclosed that surprises cannot be ruled out in Arsenal’s move for Leicester City midfielder Youri Tielemans.

Tielemans has become a popular name in this summer transfer window as he has been linked with a move to the North London outfit.

It was earlier reported that personal terms have been agreed with the player but the Gunners are yet to approach the Foxes with an offer for the midfielder as interest continues to drop on daily basis.

Of course he would like a top club, Arsenal have been in contact with his agents for months but have never submitted an official proposal yet.”

“Tielemans remains a name on the Gunners’ list but surprises cannot be ruled out.”

Arsenal told this midfielder is ‘more complete’ than N’Golo Kante

Published

on

Arsenal were earlier linked with a move for Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante this transfer window but they have been asked to consider Brighton star Moises Caicedo instead of the former Leicester City midfielder.

Caicedo is the latest name to be linked with top clubs including Manchester United, Atletico Madrid and Juventus but Arsenal can get the advantage over others because of their current form.

South American football expert Tim Vickery has therefore told the Gunners to consider the 20-year-old ahead of the Chelsea star while naming the nemerous advantages that would be enjoyed if the Ecuadorian is considered.

Speaking about the energetic midfielder to talkSPORT in February 2021, Vickery said: “He is a terrific athlete who makes football look easy. A box-to-box midfielder.

“A year ago he was saying that Kante of Chelsea is his role model but he is already more than that. He already offers more in the final third.

“That kind of box-to-box midfielder that’s very much in the tradition of the England game. Strong, quick, intelligent and cool. He really does look like the genuine article.”

CIES Football Observatory currently value the player between €15 million- €20 million (£13 million – £17 million), with Brighton paying around £4.5 million for his services 18 months ago.

Yeremy Pino: True reason why Edu is in Spain revealed

Published

on

Reports have flooded the media that Arsenal technical director Edu Gaspar has flown to Spain to negotiate a deal with Villarreal for Yeremy Pino.

The Gunners have been heavily linked with the signature of the 19-year-old who has been interesting a number of top European sides.

This report became more intense after Mikel Arteta and Edu confirmed that the North London outfit will still do some business before the end of the summer transfer window while it is also speculated that the target is to bring in a winger and a midfielder.

However, it has been confirmed that Edu Gaspar is in Spain on holiday with his family against reports that he is negotiating a deal for Yeremy Pino of Villarreal.

He is now understood to be in Spain for a family holiday, as confirmed from his wife’s Instagram story, where they can be seen playing in the pool.

Also, the Arsenal chief has been abroad with his family last week and only traveled back to London for the game at the weekend before rejoining them in Spain.

The Brazilian will presumably return to England in the coming days ahead of the final weeks of the transfer window.

Meanwhile, this does not play down Arsenal’s interest in Yeremy Pino.

Dean Jones delivers reliving Youri Tielemans latest to Arsenal fans

Published

on

Dean Jones has delivered a reliving update on the Arsenal’s pursuit of Youri Tielemans as he claimed that the midfielder could still join from Leicester City this summer transfer window.

Gunners fans proved to the midfielder that he is wanted at the Emirates Stadium with the chants during the clash at the weekend but there has been delay in the deal for reasons that cannot be explained.

Journalist Dean Jones has therefore claimed that Tielemans to Arsenal might still happen, as long as the Gunners can sort some things out with their existing squad.

“It’s been a confusing one with Tielemans who’s been linked with Manchester United and Arsenal for months but there’s been literally no movement. No offers. The player hasn’t kicked up much of a fuss to be fair to him but that’s because there’s not been anything to kick up a fuss about,” Jones said on the Football Terrace podcast.

“Now, I checked this out yesterday. Obviously Arsenal fans were chanting at Tielemans. I spoke to someone who is well connected there and they are still plotting a potential late move for Tielemans in this window. It’s all dependent on two outstanding issues in their current squad. The outcome of which will dictate whether they make a move for Tielemans or not. But yeah speaking to people, it is clear Tielemans is still a player Arsenal are considering a late bid for.”
