Sergio Romero finally ‘says goodbye to Manchester United staff’

Published

on

Argentina international goalkeeper, Sergio Romero is finally leaving Man United as he has been allowed to return to Argentina ahead of a transfer away from Old Trafford.

Sergio Romero has wished to part ways with the Red Devils after he was relegated from being the backup goalkeeper to David De Gea after Dean Henderson returned from his loan spell.

The Argentina international was relegated to the third-choice and has now been taken off the team as he is not in the team’s squad for the season.

Sergio Romero then made moves to leave the club but it was blocked by the Red Devils which made him frustrated

However, with less than six months remaining on his contract, both parties are keen for the stopper to find a new team before the end of the January window, as the 33-year-old has already bid goodbyes to the United squad and staff.

It is suspected that Sergio Romero will return to his homeland ahead of completing a switch to Boca Juniors in the coming days.

After his failure to complete a move to Everton last summer transfer window, his wife Eliana Guercio blasted the Red Devils for blocking her husband’s move and failing to respect his decision.

“Sergio Romero worked hard for his club. The last trophy they won, they lifted it with him. He helped the team [reach] 4 finals/semifinals, and then he was left on the bench only to lose them all. It is time to return the opportunity and let him go. RESPECT FOR ONCE.”

Sergio Romero made only seven Premier League appearances for the club in five seasons but has featured in 61 total games as he’s established himself as Man Utd’s cup goalkeeper.

In his stay as a Red Devils player, he featured 23 times in the Europa League, with 12 of those starts coming in the club’s run to the title in 2015-16.

The Argentina international can also boast of lifting an FA Cup, Carabao Cup, and a Community Shield during his time at Man United.

Howbeit, it is unlikely for Man United to replace Sergio Romero in this January winter transfer window.

Manchester United and Arsenal have been handed a major transfer boost in their pursuit of Borussia Monchengladbach star Denis Zakaria as the club’s sporting director Max Eberl made it clear that he can leave.

Both Arsenal and United have been linked with the midfielder as they are both in need of an addition.

Eberl has admitted that Zakaria is free to depart this month, leaving the suitors with the opportunity of submitting a bid.

“There’s nothing on my desk,” the Gladbach sporting director told Kicker.

“It’s not surprising that there is speculation about both of them and especially Denis, but it’s no longer our topic.

“They both still have a half year of contract. But we have also said again and again that if something comes up that we have to deal with for financial reasons.

“I cannot rule out that both will leave the club in winter – or one. There will be changes in the summer. We’ve worked with one squad for almost three years now.”

Interestingly, Zakaria was left out of the Gladbach squad that suffered a 2-1 defeat to Bayer Leverkusen on Saturday.

Mikel Arteta made it clear that his team is short in the midfield and he is keen to add more depth to his squad.

What Dortmund chief said about Haaland’s claim about his future

Published

Borussia Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc has claimed to be “surprised” by in-demand star striker Erling Haaland’s comments about his future.

The Norwegian striker had admitted he was under pressure over his future at Signal Iduna Park, amid a scramble for his signature.

He currently has two years remaining on his current deal at Dortmund, but the 22-year-old had to speak out as he is wanted by European giants, including Man United, Chelsea and Manchester City.

“Erling’s statements surprised us a bit,” Zorc said, speaking to Kicker.

“There is currently no deadline, no deadlines, and there have not even been any discussions. But that we want and have to have talks at some point is clear, understandable and only professional.”

Recall that Haaland had said: “Well, the last six months I have chosen not to say anything out of respect for Dortmund, but now the club has started to press me into making a decision, but all I want to do, is play football.

“But they press me to make a decision now about my future. So that means I have to make a decision soon.

“As I said they have put a lot of pressure on me and I have to accept that. I have chosen not to say anything out of respect for my club and the fans. But now it says itself that a lot of pressure is coming from the club, so now is the time to get things started.

“Yeah, that is what they want [for me] to decide future. It means that things will happen now. I have said from the beginning that I want to focus on football because that is when I am at my best.

“Not when other things come into my mind. They have put pressure [on] for a while. So it is time to get started [negotiating].”

Man United told the gamble to take on next manager

Published

Paul Merson has advised Manchester United to snub the big-name candidates to become their next manager and take a gamble on Brighton’s Graham Potter.

United must appoint a permanent manager by the end of the season after sacking Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and appointing Ralf Rangnick on an interm basis.

A number of names have been linked but Merson wants someone who is proving a point already in the EPL.

Mereson told Sky Sports: ‘I’m a big fan of his, he plays brilliant football. If I was Manchester United I’d be watching Potter. The way they play their football, they haven’t got the quality of Manchester United players and they play this great football.

‘If I was Manchester United I would be monitoring. I’d be thinking why not go for him. They won’t because he’s not a name. It’s as simple as that.

‘The fans will go ‘what are we getting someone from Brighton for?’ But for me I think he was outstanding.’

Meanwhile, PSG manager Mauricio Pochettino has been mentioned as a strong candidate for the job as he also keen to part ways with the French giants at the end of the season but that is only subject to the decision by the club and what is obtainable at that time.

Rangnick makes another claim on the future of Donny van de Beek, Dean Henderson

Published

on

Man United interim manager Ralf Rangnick has had to speak again on the future of Donny van de Beek and Dean Henderson at the club as both players are keen to leave because of the lack of playing time.

Ralf Rangnick in his recent interview reiterated that he is keen to retain the services of the two players despite their lack of involvement this term.

“I’m glad to have him in the squad. He came on for the last 15, 20 minutes against Villa in the cup game and he did well,” Rangnick told reporters when asked about Van de Beek.

“I had a conversation with him a few weeks ago after training… I told him that I would advise him to stay until the end of the season. And then, of course, with the World Cup coming up in the winter, he wants to play in the World Cup for his country.

“I can understand his wish and desire to play – on the other hand, we have a lot of competition in our squad exactly in those positions.”

Meanwhile, when asked about Henderson and a potential exit, Rangnick responded: “I told him that I would like him to stay because he is a fantastic goalkeeper.

“I would really like to have him on board… I can fully understand that he wants to play because he is at an age where, as a goalkeeper, you should regularly play, but on the other hand, we are still in three competitions, and therefore we need the two and three goalkeepers we have right now.

“I told him that I can understand his desire to get regular game time as a number one elsewhere in the Premier League.”

Football journalist Alex Crook, has disclosed that unknown to fans, Man United have held talks with the representatives of Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Denis Zakaria ahead of a potential move.

The 25-year-old is in the final six months of his current contract with the Bundesliga outfit and is not expected to put pen to paper on fresh terms, opening the door to a potentially imminent exit.

Arsenal have also been linked with the interesting and young midfielder as manager Mikel Arteta wants to add more options to his midfield.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, has also revealed that Zakaria has communicated his ‘plan to leave the club as a free agent at the end of the season’ after failing to agree terms on a new deal.

Romano also revealed that aside Man United and Arsenal, the likes of Bayern Munich, Barcelona and Juventus are interested in signing the 40-cap Switzerland international.

However, Alex Crook told GiveMeSport: “I think if they did that, it’d be to keep him out of the clutches of the likes of Liverpool. I think certainly there’s been talks between United and his representatives.

“No fee agreed yet, and there would be a minimal fee, I think it’d be less than £10 million to sign him this month.”

“He’s a great player, I really like playing with him, everyone knows about Cavani’s quality, you know, what a great player he is. He helps our team a lot, a great striker. He runs a lot for us, right, for us. South American player, fierce, right? And he’s a guy I want to have him for a lot longer because he’s a guy who helps us a lot. I hope he can stay here longer.”

Regarding the chances of Cavani’s move to Corinthians, Fred claimed it would be surprising if it indeed happens.

“For sure, I would be very surprised. I think he should stay with us at least until the end of the season, which is where his contract ends.”

Newcastle United told the two players they should sign from Man United

Published

on

Former Magpies star Jermaine Jenas has told Newcastle United to attempt to sign Manchester United duo Dean Henderson and Jesse Lingard in this January winter transfer window.

Both players are keen to leave the club as they find playing time difficult to come by. They have both been linked away from Old Trafford with interim boss Ralf Rangnick making efforts to find a way around it.

Newcastle United now have a new owner and are believed to have the funds to compete in the transfer market with Kieran Trippier as their first signing after completing his £12m move from Atletico Madrid last week.

Ex-Newcastle midfielder Jenas hopes his former club will attempt to sign Henderson and Lingard next.

“I would really like to test Dean Henderson and Manchester United’s resolve,” Jenas told William Hill.

“He must be really frustrated to have no football in a year where we’ve got a World Cup and I’d be interested to see if United would be open to anything.

“I’d also be looking at Jesse Lingard because there are no winners in his current scenario.

“Surely if he could get some games under his belt for the rest of the season and show everyone how good he is, he would.

“He’s almost the perfect fit in my opinion for Newcastle right now.”
