Reason Man United wants Dan Ashworth

Dan Ashworth

Manchester United are keen on Dan Ashworth due to his proven track record in player recruitment. With successful stints at Brighton, West Brom, and Newcastle United, Ashworth’s expertise aligns with United’s vision for squad revitalization.

His strategic approach and ability to identify talent make him an appealing target as the club aims to strengthen its recruitment strategy and remain competitive.

Dan Ashworth’s Top Signings

Peter Odemwingie

Peter Odemwingie left an indelible mark at West Brom, tallying 31 goals and 17 assists in 90 appearances from 2010 to 2013. Despite a controversial transfer saga with QPR, he remains a cherished figure among West Brom fans.

Dan Ashworth signed Odewinge for West Brom

Signed for a modest £1.5 million from Lokomotiv Moscow, Odemwingie hit the ground running, emerging as the top scorer with 15 goals in his debut season. His consistent performances propelled West Brom to commendable Premier League finishes, securing 11th, 10th, and 8th places.

Odemwingie’s 30 Premier League goals still stand as a club record. Former sporting director Dan Ashworth lauds him as one of West Brom’s finest signings, alongside Romelu Lukaku, underscoring his immense value to the team.

Alexis Mac Allister

Dan Ashworth’s time at Brighton was like hitting the jackpot, especially with signings like Alexis Mac Allister. Ashworth had this knack for finding hidden talents, and Mac Allister was one of his best discoveries.

The guy was just 20 when he joined in 2019, and he went on loan to both Argentinos Juniors and Boca Juniors before settling in Brighton. It took some time to get going, but once he did, he scored 20 goals and made nine assists in 112 games.

And then Liverpool came knocking, paying around £35m upfront, with the potential to go up to £55m. Talk about a success story for both Mac Allister and Ashworth!

Moises Caicedo

Dan Ashworth did a great job at Brighton. He had a clever way of finding good players. One of his best signings was Moises Caicedo from Ecuador. He wasn’t well-known, but Ashworth saw his potential.

Brighton got him for just £4.5 million. Then, within two years, they sold him to Chelsea for a whopping £115 million! This shows how good Caicedo was and how brilliant Ashworth was to sign him.

Ashworth also found other talented players from South America for Brighton. So, people praise him for his intelligent moves in making Brighton a successful team.

Dan Ashworth signed Mitoma for Brighton

Kaoru Mitoma of Brighton FC

Kaoru Mitoma

Dan Ashworth keeps finding great players for Brighton. Leandro Trossard and Marc Cucurella are good, but Kaoru Mitoma stands out. People get excited whenever the Japanese have the ball because of his flair and talent. Brighton got him from Kawasaki Frontale for just £2.7m.

Even though they initially loaned him out, Mitoma has been outstanding since joining Brighton in August 2021. He’s scored 13 goals and made 14 assists in 66 games.

Many top Premier League teams are interested in him now. This shows how good Ashworth is at spotting talented players like Mitoma and helping them shine.

Dan Ashworth at Newcastle United

Dan Ashworth’s transfer magic didn’t stop at Brighton; he brought his wizardry to Newcastle, too, thanks to the backing of Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund.

Ashworth’s nose for a deal remained sharp despite a different game plan. Take Nick Pope, for example. He joined from Burnley for just £10m and hit the ground running, much like Lallana or Veltman did at Brighton.

Then there’s Alexander Isak, Newcastle’s big-money move at around £60m from Real Sociedad. Ashworth and his recruitment buddy Steve Nickson practically camped in San Sebastian to seal the deal. Isak’s had his injury woes, but when he’s fit, he’s been a revelation, banging in 24 goals and setting up three more in 52 games.

With such an impressive record of tangible results, it’s no wonder Manchester United is going all the way for the seasoned sports director.

Ashworth’s eye for talent and knack for sealing the deal continue to shape Brighton’s and Newcastle’s fortunes, making him a transfer guru worth his weight in gold.

Free Players at the end of the season

The Premier League’s free-agent list for 2024 is quite the lineup, filled with big names weighing their next moves. We’ve got Varane at United, Thiago contemplating leaving Liverpool, and Silva’s future at Chelsea.

There’s also intrigue at Arsenal with Elneny, and Aurier’s role at Tottenham under new management is uncertain.

Over at Everton, Coleman might be considering a change, while Willian has decisions to make at Fulham.

In La Liga, it’s about Modric and Kroos deciding their following chapters, while Ramos seems set on extending his career.

Serie A sees Giroud still making waves at AC Milan, while Rabiot ponders his future at Juventus.

Liverpool is already considering Federico Chiesa from Juventus as a possible replacement for Mohamed Salah if he leaves. Chiesa’s been doing well for Juventus, bagging eight goals and a couple of assists this season.

The Reds are watching him, especially with Salah’s future uncertain. The recent clash between Mo Salah and Jürgen Klopp has increased the uncertainty of the striker remaining at the club.

The used-to-be-prolific striker, Mo Salah has lost form recently and that is when Liverpool needed him the most to keep up in the title race.

However with interests from Saudi Arabia, Salah may decide to follow his brother Sadio Mane who went to Saudi at the beginning of the ongoing season. Though Arne Slot is keen on keeping the striker.

It’s interesting to see Liverpool making moves early, showing they’ll be on time if Salah decides to move on.

Liverpool target

Manchester United and Liverpool are in for a showdown over Barcelona’s rising star, Mikayil Faye. This 19-year-old defender has been turning heads with his performances for Barcelona B, and now he’s got some big clubs circling him.

Bayern Munich, Lille, Monaco, and Nice are also in the mix. Faye’s agents even chatted with Barcelona’s sporting director, Deco, to sort things out.

Joe Gomez is open to exiting this summer

Liverpool might find themselves in a defensive pickle this summer, with Joe Gomez potentially eyeing the exit door. He’s not precisely kicking it down, but he’s open to a new adventure, especially if it takes him back to London.

Losing him would be a blow for the new coach and the team, given his reliability and versatility all over the pitch this season.

When finding a replacement, they keep tabs on players like Lutsharel Geertruida from Feyenoord, known for being a bit of a utility player. And then there’s Ferdi Kadioglu from Fenerbahce, who’s shown he can fill multiple roles, too.

Liverpool won’t hold Gomez back if he wants to move on, but they’ll likely be looking for a decent fee, maybe around £22 million.

It’ll be the end of an era if he does leave, considering he’s been around since Klopp first arrived.

Also, they’ve got their sights set on a few other defenders, like Willian Pacho and Goncalo Inacio, to help fill the void.

As the season wraps up, all eyes are on Varane and Thiago Silva from Manchester United and Chelsea and Thiago Alcantara from Liverpool – they’re the big names set to become free agents.

Toni Kroos, Luka Modric, Sergio Ramos, and Oliver Giroud are also set to become free agents by the end of the season.

There’s some serious rivalry brewing between Manchester United and Liverpool over Mikayil Faye.

Liverpool is eyeing up Federico Chiesa as a potential replacement for Mo Salah.

The Merseyside Reds are also Keeping an eye on Joe Gomez – he might be saying goodbye to Anfield and heading to a top club in London.

Exciting times ahead!

Football News: Tottenham and Nottingham Forest Suffers Another Loss

Arsenal’s showdown with Tottenham was nothing short of a roller-coaster ride! The Gunners surged early on with goals from Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg (own goal), Saka, and Havertz, setting the stage for a tough game.

However, Tottenham fought back fiercely, narrowing the gap with two goals from Cristian Romero and Son Heung-min.

It was a nail-biting affair until the final whistle, but Arsenal ultimately clinched a vital 3-2 victory.

This win showcased Arsenal’s determination and highlighted areas for improvement, especially in defense. Nevertheless, a thrilling display of skill and resilience left fans on the edge of their seats throughout the match.

This season has been one of the most impressive in Arsenal football history. For instance, Saka did great, scoring over 19 goals in total and 15 in the English Premier League. No English player for Arsenal has done that in over 25 years.

Also, Gunner’s demolition of Chelsea (5-0) earned them their Hundredth goal of the season, first time since 2004/2005 season.

Havertz did well, helping with 18 goals this season, which is more than Bruno Fernandes (17), Luis Diaz (16), and Diogo Jota (13).

Arsenal scored 16 goals from corners, the most since 2016-17.

Rice made six assists in 2024, more than anyone else in the league this year.

Arteta hasn’t lost to top teams, and Arsenal won for the first time in 36 years back-to-back away games against Spurs.

City downed Nottingham Forest

Manchester City Downed Nottingham Forest

Manchester City didn’t exactly cruise to victory against Nottingham Forest, but they got the job done with a 2-0 win, keeping the heat on Arsenal at the top. Josko Gvardiol and Erling Haaland found the net, with Haaland making a smashing return from injury.

Forest had their chances but couldn’t finish, unlike Haaland, who made it count. It wasn’t all smooth sailing for City, though, with Ederson getting injured again and Forest putting up a fight. City’s knack for grinding out wins, even on tough days, shows their championship mindset.

Anderson’s injury doesn’t look good.

Pep Guardiola dropped a worrying bombshell about Ederson’s injury after Manchester City clashes with Nottingham Forest, admitting, “It doesn’t look good.”

Seeing Ederson leave with his arm in a sling was a tough sight for City fans. With Phil Foden and Ruben Dias also out sick, City has a few headaches.

Ederson’s injury from a clash with Willy Boly raises doubts about his availability for the crucial run-in, especially with a big game against Manchester United looming.

It’s a nervy time for City supporters, hoping their star keeper can shake off the knock and keep their title hopes alive.

City will play Wolves at home this Saturday, and the next game will be six days later. Then, they’ll hit the road to face Fulham on the penultimate weekend.

A midweek showdown against Tottenham awaits, leading to their last game against West Ham at home.

It’s crystal clear for the Blues: bagging victories in these remaining fixtures could see them snatch the title from Arsenal’s grasp.

Tottenham Hotspur lose to Arsenal despite the penalty

Guardiola Spoke up on Foden’s absence.

So, Guardiola spilled the beans on Foden’s absence, saying, “He’s not ready. He’s ill.” It’s a bummer because Foden’s been killing it this season with 16 goals and seven assists.

Stuff happens in a long season. So, City had to switch gears without their star player, leaning on De Bruyne and Grealish for some attacking firepower against Nottingham Forest.

Manchester City won against Nottingham Forest, while Arsenal celebrated a thrilling victory over Tottenham.

But there’s some worry, too. Ederson got injured during the game, and Phil Foden couldn’t play due to illness.

With 3 to four matches to go, Arsenal and Manchester City are on a tight run with all at stake as the winner takes it all.

Even with all the ups and downs, fans keep cheering their teams on, knowing that every match adds to the excitement and drama of the season.

Football News: Liverpool and Manchester United News

Welcome to another episode of premier league results. We’ve got matchups involving Liverpool, West Ham, and Manchester United to dissect.

From heated exchanges between Mo Salah and Jürgen Klopp to sarcastic draws of Manchester United.

Burnley held down Manchester United to get away from relegation

Burnley held down Manchester United to escape Relegation.

Manchester United missed a chance for a crucial win as they drew 1-1 against Burnley at Old Trafford. Anthony’s goal in the 79th minute seemed to seal the deal, but Burnley’s Zeki Amdouni equalized with a late penalty.

The game was action-packed, with a total of 43 shots, 17 of them on target. Despite United’s efforts, including hitting the post and impressive saves from goalkeeper Andre Onana, they couldn’t hold on to their lead.

The draw makes United’s hopes for a top-five finish in the Premier League uncertain, while Burnley missed a chance to climb out of the relegation zone. It also highlights United’s defensive weaknesses compared to previous seasons.

Although United continue to create scoring opportunities, their defense remains a concern, especially with the upcoming FA Cup final against Manchester City. Burnley’s Dara O’Shea stood out with his solid defensive performance, including a crucial last-minute tackle.

Liverpool dropped more points in the Title Race.

Liverpool had another disappointing moment in their title chase against West Ham, settling for a frustrating 2-2 draw. Despite a spirited fightback with goals from Robertson and an unintentional gift from West Ham’s keeper, Liverpool couldn’t seal the deal, conceding late to Michail Antonio.

Klopp’s touchline tiff with Salah added to the drama, hinting at underlying tensions. Visibly disappointed but unwilling to dwell on the title race, Klopp focused on the missed opportunities and the team’s efforts amidst a grueling schedule.

It’s a tough pill for Liverpool, sitting third and chasing shadows behind City and Arsenal. With every game crucial, Klopp’s farewell season risks ending on a sour note if they can’t turn things around soon.

The frustration is palpable as Liverpool’s chances slip away, leaving fans and players alike wondering what could’ve been. It’s a rollercoaster ride of emotions, but with time running out, Liverpool needs to find their winning form fast to keep their title dreams alive.

Jürgen Klopp and Mo Salah heated argument

The Salah-Klopp showdown at Liverpool has fans buzzing with speculation about Salah’s future.

After that heated touchline clash caught on camera, Salah dropped a cryptic bomb, saying there’d be “fire” if he spilled the beans. Klopp tried to play it down, saying they hashed it out behind closed doors, but Salah’s silence speaks volumes.

With Liverpool’s season taking a nosedive lately – crashing out of cups and losing ground in the league – Salah’s exit feels more real than ever.

Despite his heroics, his age and contract situation are like ticking time bombs. Remember that hefty offer from Al-Ittihad last summer? Liverpool said no, but a summer transfer might be on the cards with Salah hitting 32 and his contract winding down.

Sure, Liverpool will pocket less cash this time, but every penny counts. Just look at Sadio Mane’s saga – left for Bayern, now chilling in Saudi Arabia

Liverpool can’t afford to miss the boat again. As Salah’s future hangs in the balance, Liverpool’s bigwigs have some serious thinking to do. It’s a game of timing, and they better get it right.

The last games of the Premier League have been nothing short of intense. Liverpool’s frustration against West Ham and the heated exchange between Klopp and Salah say much about the Duo’s future at Anfield.

Manchester United’s draw with Burnley highlights defensive struggles.

Liverpool is far behind other title contenders— Arsenal and Manchester City- and it’s safe to say that they are no longer title contenders.

Transfer News: Lindelof, Andriy Lunin, Miguel Gutierrez and Manchester United

Lindelof Out Miguel Gutierrez in for Man United

As reports suggest, Manchester United is eyeing a summer move for Girona defender Miguel Gutierrez. The 22-year-old Spaniard has attracted interest from the Premier League following an impressive season, contributing with one goal and six assists from left-back.

With United looking to bolster their defensive line, Gutierrez emerges as a potential target, especially with the backing of Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s investment in the club. However, competition from Arsenal and West Ham could complicate matters.

Meanwhile, Turkish publication A Spor reports that Galatasaray targets Victor Lindelof for a summer transfer. The 29-year-old Swedish centre-back only has a year left on his contract with United and is seen as a prime defensive option for the Turkish club.

Miguel Gutierrez to Manchester United

With United expected to strengthen their defence, Lindelof could be surplus to requirements, potentially fetching a fee of £15-20 million.

Liverpool shows interest in Chelsea’s Levi Colwill.

Liverpool is seriously considering a move for Levi Colwill from Chelsea, with talks ongoing between the two clubs. Colwill, valued at around £40 million, has caught Liverpool’s eye due to his potential and talent.

Despite Chelsea’s reluctance to part ways with him, the club’s need to balance finances may push them to consider offers for Colwill and other homegrown players.

Chelsea’s disappointing season, marked by a lack of European qualification and missed cup opportunities, has pressured the club to restructure.

With Colwill’s contract expiring soon and interest from other clubs, including Tottenham, Chelsea may be forced to make tough decisions about their roster.

Liverpool, in need of defensive reinforcements following Joel Matip’s departure, sees Colwill as a viable option. The 21-year-old’s loan spell at Brighton showcased his abilities, leading to interest from multiple clubs.

While Chelsea has resisted previous offers for Colwill, Liverpool’s persistence and the player’s openness to a move could sway the decision.

Reports suggest that Chelsea is considering offloading Colwill and other homegrown talents like Conor Gallagher and Armando Broja to fund new signings.

Despite Colwill’s potential and Chelsea’s reluctance to sell, financial considerations may ultimately dictate the club’s decision.

Manchester United set their sight on Andriy Lunin.

Manchester United is in the mix to snatch Real Madrid’s goalkeeper Andriy Lunin, alongside Paris Saint Germain and Bayern Munich.

It seems United isn’t entirely satisfied with their current goalie situation despite signing Andre Onana last summer for a hefty £47 million from Inter Milan.

Onana’s had his fair share of ups and downs, especially with some noticeable blunders in the Champions League. But even though he’s been stepping up in the Premier League lately, the rumour mill keeps churning about United eyeing another shot-stopper.

Lunin’s the latest name in the mix. The 25-year-old’s been warming Real Madrid‘s bench for a while but got his chance due to some goalie shuffles with Thibaut Courtois and Kepa Arrizabalaga. Now, with interest from United, PSG, and Bayern, he’s contemplating a switch.

His agent, Jorge Mendes, is probably juggling offers from these big clubs, making it a crucial moment for Lunin’s career. Even though Real Madrid wants to keep him, and his contract runs until 2025, the allure of playing for clubs like United might sway him.

Today’s football transfer updates showcased the strategic tango between clubs, players, and agents.

From Manchester United’s potential move for Andriy Lunin to the buzz around the signing of Miguel Gutierrez.

Chelsea’s discussions over Colwill and Victor Lindelof’s potential departure from United add to the drama.

Stay tuned for more twists and turns as clubs vie for talent in the ever-evolving world of football transfers.

Olise linked to Arsenal and ManchesterUnited

Arne Slot to Replace Jürgen Klopp at Liverpool

Arne Slot is expected to take over as the new manager at Liverpool, replacing the outgoing Jurgen Klopp. Negotiations with Feyenoord are underway, with Liverpool keen to secure Slot’s release.

Slot believes an agreement will be reached soon, despite Feyenoord holding out for a record fee of £10-£12m. He expressed confidence in the negotiation process and his desire to join Liverpool.

Slot’s agent, Rafaela Pimenta, has a good relationship with Liverpool, and personal terms are not expected to be an issue. Slot has been successful at Feyenoord, winning the Eredivisie title last season. Not only that but also reaching the Europa Conference League final in 2022.

Arne to Liverpool Liverpool’s pursuit of Klopp’s successor has been data-driven, and Slot fits the criteria set out by Fenway Sports Group.

The club has been restructuring behind the scenes, appointing a new sporting director and strengthening the recruitment department.

Arsenal handed a four-person transfer boost

Arsenal’s gearing up for a power-packed summer, with former Gunner Mikael Silvestre tipping them to go all-in for some top talent. He’s got his eye on Victor Osimhen or Ollie Watkins up front, plus Crystal Palace gems Michael Olise and Eberechi Eze out wide. Silvestre reckons these signings could give Arsenal the firepower they need to keep their Premier League title dreams alive.

He’s singing the praises of Osimhen and Watkins, saying they could bag 30-40 goals a season with the exemplary service from Arsenal’s midfield maestros. And when it comes to Olise and Eze, he’s all about their flair and unpredictability, seeing them as game-changers on the wings.

Oshimen to Arsenal

Watkins has been lighting up the pitch for Aston Villa, notching an impressive 26 goals and 12 assists this season. Osimhen’s been no slouch either, hitting 15 goals for Napoli. And over at Palace, Olise and Eze have been making waves with their goal-scoring and playmaking skills.

But snagging these talents won’t be a walk in the park, especially with Watkins recently committing to Villa with a new deal.

Still, if Arsenal can pull it off, these signings would give them the edge they need to compete for silverware next season. It’s an exciting time for Arsenal fans, with dreams of glory on the horizon.

Michael Olise has a clever contract clause that may cost Man Utd millions more to land a deal.

Crystal Palace’s Michael Olise is on Manchester United’s radar for the upcoming transfer window, but luring him might come with a hefty price tag. Ollise has been turning heads lately, especially alongside Eberechi Eze under manager Oliver Glasner.

United’s interested, but Palace won’t let Olise go cheaply. They’re asking for over £60 million, and Eze’s in the same boat.

Both players signed long deals, but these tricky release clauses are involved. Last year, Chelsea tried to swoop in for Olise, but Palace stood firm.

Despite the speculation, Olise seems happy where he is, only eyeing a move to a club that matches his style and ambition. Even former United striker Dwight Yorke thinks Olise and Eze would be game-changers in the United attack, urging the club’s owners to make a move.

What a day in football! It looks like Liverpool’s getting closer to naming Arne Slot as their new coach, which could shake things up at Anfield.

And Arsenal fans, myself included, are buzzing about the rumours of us snagging Osimhen, Watkins, Olise, and Eze – talk about a boost! And now, to top it off, it seems Manchester United’s eyeing Olise, too.

The summer transfer window’s heating up, and I can’t wait to see how it all unfolds!
