Ray Parlour hints at what will happen toMan United if they sign these two players

Arsenal legend, Ray Parlour has predicted that Manchester United will be in a stronger position to challenge for the Premier League title if they land Raphael Varane and Kieran Trippier.

The Red Devils reached the final of the Europa League but failed to win it as they also missed out of the Premier League title with manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side conceding a number of avoidable goals last season.

The club has already made a statement to come out stronger by agreeing on a deal with Borussia Dortmund for Jadon Sancho and they are in line to sign Raphael Varane from Real Madrid.

The Real Madrid and France defender will cost £50million, taking the club’s summer spending to over £100million. Kieran Trippier is also being linked and could join the club.

According to former Arsenal man Parlour, all three deals will move United closer to a title charge.

“Well certainly Varane is a top quality player, I was really impressed with him during the Euros, he’s an excellent defender, so that will be a great signing for Manchester United,” the pundit told talkSPORT.

“Trippier, we know what he can do. Whether they can play three at the back at times, [Aaron] Wan-Bissaka obviously is the main man, [Trippier] can play left-back as well, so he’s very good cover and he’s a great pro as well.

“That’s what [Man United] have got to do, they’ve got to compete and try to get closer to Man City, who everyone is chasing,” he added.

“Liverpool are the same, they’ll be trying to make signings as well. You can’t stand still in the Premier League.

“I think that Maguire and [John] Stones were a very good partnership during the Euros and I can imagine Maguire and Varane will be a decent partnership.

“If you’ve got a good defence you’ve always got a chance, and with the attacking players they’ve got, and with Sancho coming in, it will give them a much better chance of getting closer and challenging for that title.”

Experienced legend, Danny Murphy has listed the six clubs he thinks can win the Champions League this season.

His list include title holders Chelsea, Manchester City and Liverpool. However, Manchester United was not mentioned.

Danny Murphy predicts English clubs could be a dominant force in Europe this campaign, with Chelsea hoping to defend the title they won after beating Manchester City in last season’s champions league final.

For Liverpool, they reached successive Champions League finals in 2018 and 2019 and would be eager to challenge for another this seasonn.

Danny Murphy insists Manchester City are one of the favorites as with Chelsea, Liverpool, Bayern Munich, PSG and Atletico Madrid.

Asked which teams he expects to challenge for the Champions League title, Murphy told MailSport:

“I personally think the winners will come from one of six – Manchester City, Liverpool, Chelsea, Bayern Munich and PSG.

“Atletico are an outsider because Diego Simeone has matchwinners in Luis Suarez and Griezmann in addition to the remarkable team spirit he’s fostered.”

Why Man Utd may not win trophy

Rio Ferdinand, has said the Manchester United inexperience could stop themfrom winning the Champions League this season.

Man United manager has brought in Cristiano Ronaldo, Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane this summer, as he seeks to win his first title at Old Trafford.

However, the team have not won any silverware since the Europa League final in 2017.

Their rivals, Liverpool and Chelsea have won both the Premier League and Champions League while Manchester City have won last season’s fina, their third league title in four years under experienced coach Pep Guardiola.

“I think Man United’s not a problem, but where they’re behind the other three English teams, is the experience of winning things.

“All the other three English teams have won things, whether it be the Champions League or the Premier League. Man United have yet to do that as this group.

“That’s where they are lacking, and that’s where they’ve got to play catch up and they’ve got to do that this season. The transfer window for them has been impeccable, but that’s got to translate into trophies,” Ferdinand told BT Sport.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, has lambasted his side following a 2-1 defeat to Young Boys on yesterday.

Manchester United began their Champions League campaign with a shock loss to Young Boys.

The Red Devil took the lead when Cristiano Ronaldo scored his third goal since he returned to Old Trafford.

Later on, the game turned around after Aaron Wan-Bissaka received a straight red card for his challenge on Christopher Martins.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, has lay blames on his team following a 2-1 defeat to Young Boys on Tuesday.

The Switzerland side eventually drew level, thanks to Moumi Ngameleu’s strike.

The match should have been a draw but Lingard tried to find David de Gea but his pass found Theoson Siebatcheu.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has seriously warned his squad that they must learn from their mistakes if they are to avoid an early exit from the championship competition.

“A lack of concentration, you make a mistake and you get done. We did that last year, conceding two sloppy counter-attacks against Basaksehir and lost that game in the last seconds today.

“So we know we’ve given ourselves a more difficult task. We did last year when everyone thought we were through after two games.

“You need 10 or 12 points: win your home games and one away from home. We’ve lost the opportunity to get three points, but we’ve got two home games next and got to focus on those two,” Solskjaer said after the game.
