English Premier League club, Arsenal have been told by their legend, Ray Parlour how to get back to winning ways after a disappointing last season.

The Gunners have had a fair share of the summer transfer window with the signings of Nuno Tavares from Benfica and Sambi Lokonga from Anderlecht and it is understood that they are set to confirm the signing Ben White from Brighton.

Arsenal are believed to be on the lookout for a number of other signings this summer as Arteta gears up for his second full season in charge at the club.

However, Ray Parlour said for the North London outfit to be able to compete for any title and return to top-four finish next season, they must make at least, two or three more signings this summer.

Speaking to talkSPORT, as quoted by Metro, Parlour said: “I think they need another striker. I think they need another midfielder, alongside [Thomas] Partey.

“I think they need another player who’s mobile in there. And defensively you could argue that they need a right back, [Hector] Bellerin is talked about that he could move on.

“There is a lot of hard work to do, it’s not easy to find these players if you’re going to be successful.”

The Gunners finished in eighth place and without a trophy last season. They also failed to qualify for any of the European competitions, the first time in many years.

Mikel Arteta is on a mission of returning the club back to winning ways and has identified young and talented players to carry out the task of bouncing back from a disappointing last season.

It would be recalled that the North London club have not won the title since 2004 and they will kick off their Premier League campaign with a trip to face newly-promoted Brentford on 13 August.

Football transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has stunned Arsenal fans by revealing that no bid has been received by Villarreal for Yeremy Pino from any if his suitors.

The transfer guru also disclosed that Arsenal will spend about £42 million to be able to sign the interesting winger who has been tipped to make a great future under Mikel Arteta.

Reports had claimed that Arsenal are keen on a winger and the youngster is being considered by the North London outfit and other top clubs in Europe

“Many clubs have been following Yeremi Pino for months, he is a top player of the future that at least three Premier League clubs have been monitoring for some time,” Romano told CaughtOffside.

“No proposals have been made yet to Villarreal, who would like more than €50m for their young star; it will not be an easy negotiation.

“As for the rumours about Arsenal – Edu was not travelling to Spain to meet Villarreal, also because Pino’s agents are based in the UK (Stellar Group).”

Jamie O’Hara apologized after making exit call for this Arsenal star

Published

on

Former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Jamie O’Hara has apologised to Arsenal star William Saliba for previously asking the North London outfit to sell him this summer.

Saliba has just returned from a loan spell at Marseille and gave a good impression during the preseason but that was not enough to convince the former player-turned pundit.

“Who?” O’Hara said on TalkSPORT when asked about Saliba earlier this month. “I mean you’re asking me about players, I have no interest in Arsenal whatsoever.

“If you have loaned him out and he has been there three seasons, you’ve loaned him out twice (then) he obviously ain’t (sic) good enough. Get rid of him.”

But after watching the Frenchman deliver a Man of The Match performance against Crystal Palace and another one against Leicester City, he owned up to his error and apologized.

Speaking about the former Marseille loanee on talkSPORT, he said: “I wasn’t sure of him because he’d gone out on loan, I hadn’t seen him play loads. I was thinking maybe he wasn’t up to scratch to play for this team.

“And I’ll apologise, I absolutely got that wrong. He is the real deal, what a signing.

“What a player he is and I know that he’s young but he could be sensational. He’s still got things to work on, like his positioning, but he looks really, really good.”

Liverpool tipped to snap up top Arsenal target as Gunners delay move

Published

Former Arsenal and Everton striker Kevin Campbell has tipped Liverpool to make a move for top Arsenal target Youri Tielemans this summer transfer window.

He noted that Youri Tielemans would be interested if Liverpool decided to make an offer as he is keen on exiting Leicester City.

Arsenal have made their interest known but have delayed making a move for the midfielder as time continues to tick

Meanwhile, Liverpool are in dire need of midfielders. Thiago Alcantara’s recent injury against Fulham adds him to the list of injured midfielders along with Curtis Jones and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

Also the Merseyside club are yet to replace Georginio Wijnaldum since his move to Paris Saint-Germain in the summer of 2021.

No doubt, a player like Youri Tielemans, who is almost injury-free all the time and with consistent performances to boot would be welcomed at Anfield.

The 25 year old Belgian is into the last year of his contract at Leicester City. He has been linked to the Reds in the past as well.

“When you look at Thiago, his game and what he brings to Liverpool, Tielemans could go someway to replacing that. Thiago brings craft to that Liverpool midfield. Tielemans brings that as well”

Kevin Campbell reveals Arsenal linked with another winger, but he’s not carried away, gives reasons

Arsenal have been linked with Bayer Leverkusen winger Moussa Diaby, one of the finest players in the Bundesliga.

Moussa Diaby is another name that has been mentioned outside Yeremy Pino of Villarreal as the Gunners continue to search for a winger that would replace Nicolas Pepe.

However, Kevin Campbell says he will not be carried away by the hype around the player ad he gives reasons.

When asked by Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs if Diaby would be an upgrade on the potentially departing Pepe at the Emirates, Campbell said: “You could say that.

“You never really know until they come in though.

“One thing we have do know is that Moussa Diaby is very direct and very skilful. He is a real creator. He can go both way, inside and outside.

“It looks like he tracks back and does the dirty work as well. That is what can be levelled at Pepe. He is good going forward but the other side of his game is lacking intensity.

“Diaby is a good player but you never really know until they come in. He has been coveted by a few clubs. [Mikel] Arteta and Edu do their homework.”

Fans already happy with this man at Arsenal but he’s been warned anything can happen if…

While players continue to exit and join Arsenal, manager Mikel Arteta is another name that could be mentioned as an exit from the Emirates Stadium, according to former player William Gallas if he fails to deliver top four finish.

The Gunners have gone beyond the £100million mark yet again with acquisitions of former Manchester City duo Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko.

This therefore means that expectations have been raised and a 2-0 win at Crystal Palace in their Premier League opener and another against Leicester City has seen Arsenal touted by many as qualifiers for next season’s Champions League.

But if that doesn’t happen, William Gallas said he Arteta could be sacked.

Speaking to Genting Casino, the Frenchman explained: “Of course he will be in big trouble if they don’t make top four. Arteta has been asked to make the top four and he didn’t do it last season. If Arsenal don’t play in the Champions League next season, it would cause a lot of drama.

“They have to have a great season, possibly win the Premier League, at least qualify for the Champions League. They have just bought new players, it’s in the hands of Arteta and the players.

“It will be a big problem for all of them if they don’t do their job to qualify in the Champions League.”

Arsenal told this midfielder is ‘more complete’ than N’Golo Kante

Published

Arsenal were earlier linked with a move for Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante this transfer window but they have been asked to consider Brighton star Moises Caicedo instead of the former Leicester City midfielder.

Caicedo is the latest name to be linked with top clubs including Manchester United, Atletico Madrid and Juventus but Arsenal can get the advantage over others because of their current form.

South American football expert Tim Vickery has therefore told the Gunners to consider the 20-year-old ahead of the Chelsea star while naming the nemerous advantages that would be enjoyed if the Ecuadorian is considered.

Speaking about the energetic midfielder to talkSPORT in February 2021, Vickery said: “He is a terrific athlete who makes football look easy. A box-to-box midfielder.

“A year ago he was saying that Kante of Chelsea is his role model but he is already more than that. He already offers more in the final third.

“That kind of box-to-box midfielder that’s very much in the tradition of the England game. Strong, quick, intelligent and cool. He really does look like the genuine article.”

CIES Football Observatory currently value the player between €15 million- €20 million (£13 million – £17 million), with Brighton paying around £4.5 million for his services 18 months ago.
