Ole Gunnar Solskjaer already speaks of Jesse Lingard’s United return

Published

on

Even before his loan deal was confirmed to West Ham United, manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has stated that he wants Jesse Lingard to return to the Old Trafford after his loan term.

Jesse Lingard was not favoured with playing time and has to leave. Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is left helpless as he wants to keep the player but he has got several options in his team ahead.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer also urged the midfielder to prove how good he is at West Ham before returning to Manchester United at the end of the season.

The 28-year-old was initially a crucial player at United when the Norwegian arrived. But his form has since declined and has fallen down the pecking order.

Solskjaer has now urged the academy graduate to take advantage of his time at the London Stadium and rediscover his mojo to be able to get back into his team when he returns.

“We want Jesse to come back here revitalised and having shown at West Ham how good a player he is, of course,” he said.

“He’s just been unfortunate with a couple of issues – some periods that he had to stay away from us with the Covid and isolation, with the close contact. The rest of the team has done well. We’ve had little to no injuries and he’s not forced his way into the team, unfortunately.

“I just want him to go there and enjoy himself, show how good a player he is and come back. He’s a Man United player through and through.

Meanwhile, Amad Diallo is the only player the Red Devils have welcomed as additions this month but have seen several players leave.

Marcos Rojo could be one of those that would leave as he is linked with a move to Argentina while goalkeeper Sergio Romero is poised to see out his deal at Old Trafford.

“Likely that Jesse’s loan deal with West Ham is going through, likely that Marcos goes back to Argentina,” Solskjaer added. “Little bit of paperwork left to be done, I think.

“Sergio, I’ve not heard anything there apart from that he’ll be with us for the rest of his contract.”

Kante finally speaks on Chelsea future amidst interest from Man United

Published

on

Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante has responded with questions about his future beyond the end of this season.

Kante is subject to speculations for a move to Manchester United because new manager Erik ten Hag is a fan.

However, the midfielder refused to reveal where he’ll be playing next season as he’s only focused on the current campaign with the Blues.

Kante told Sky Sports: “The only thing is sure that I have one more year and the only thing is to finish this season.

“I’ll think about it in the right time.”

Although Noel Whelan has discouraged United as he said they should not be targeting players over 30 this summer.

He also suggested Kante’s lack of resale value makes a deal an unattractive proposition.

“I’d like to see Man United looking to bring in much younger players,” he told Football Insider‘s Ewan Kingsbury.

“I don’t see the point of getting players in who are 31 or 32. They need freshening up all over the park, and to do that they need to get young talent through the door.

“Don’t get me wrong, N’Golo Kante is an exceptional player. He can still be one of the best midfielders in the Premier League on his day.

“But what is the point of signing players for two years?

“It’ll take a transfer fee – and they won’t get anything back for him in a couple of years.

“The fans will like to think Ten Hag is looking to build something for the future rather than just looking for a quick fix.”

“If we manage to clean up the club’s finances, we will have fair play, cash…

“I don’t know if there will be [player] sales.”

Meanwhile, football pundit Noel Whelan had earlier claimed that the deal will not happen.

The former Leeds striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claimed McTominay, 25, would not be “an enticing enough prospect” for the Catalan giants.

“There have been games where he’s looked incredible, but that isn’t saying much when you consider where they are.

“He wants to work hard and I like his attitude – but would he be an enticing enough prospect for Barcelona? Probably not.

“I don’t think I can see a swap deal for Frenkie de Jong happening. That just doesn’t seem right.

“I think Barcelona fans would be fuming if that were to go through.”

Possibility of Harry Kane to Man United hinter by Pundit

Published

on

It has been hinted that there is no possibility of a move for Harry Kane from Tottenham Hotspur to Man United in the summer.

He has been a top target for the Red Devils but the negative results of the club and the inability to secure a place in the Champions League could have affected a lot of things.

Noel Whelan has therefore, stated that Kane will “have a real go at making history” at the North London outfit.

The former Leeds striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted a Man United switch for the 28-year-old would be a “really strange and backwards move”.

However, Whelan suggested the three-time Premier League Golden Boot winner wouldn’t be “as prolific” if he were to leave Spurs.

“The only place you could realistically see him going is Man United or Man City,” he told Football Insider‘s Ewan Kingsbury.

“Man City have gone out and got Haaland. Going to Man United right now would be a really strange, backwards move.

“I don’t think he would be as prolific at Man United. He suits Tottenham down to the ground.

“The only other option for him would be the top European clubs. But I’m sure he wants to have a real go at making history with Tottenham.”

United summer activities have started yielding results as a major deal is set to be hijacked from AC Milan

Published

on

Man United seems to have started making moves for the summer transfer window as they are understood to be making efrortw to hijack AC Milan’s deal for Sven Botman.

The Italian giants are in advanced talks to sign the defender, 22, in a deal worth around £25million but he could end up at Old Trafford.

This is coming after new manager Erik ten Hag held a transfer summit with director of football John Murtough, long-time Ajax assistant Mitchell van der Gaag and Steve McClaren in Amsterdam last week to discuss potential transfer targets.

Botman is understood to have come up in those talks with a defender highly needed at Old Trafford and it was agreed that preliminary talks would take place.

Botman matches the profile of a left-sided centre-back that Ten Hag feels is needed to bolster his squad and is among a number of defenders being monitored ahead of the summer.

The Dutch defender went through the ranks at Ajax before joining Lille in the summer of 2020 and this could help Erik ten Hag to easily convince him to make a move in the summer.

Chelsea handed Rice advantage after new name is mentioned to Ten Hag’s ears

Published

on

Chelsea seems to have been handed a free run in their bid to sign Declan Rice after Erik ten Hag is advised by former Chelsea and Republic of Ireland midfielder Andy Townsend to sign his West Ham teammate Jarrod Bowen in his first transfer window .

Chelsea and Man United have been in the race for Declan Rice before now but the Red Devils have been urged to consider Bowen.

Townsend said he expects West Ham to receive ‘a bid or two’ for in-form Bowen this summer.

This is because Bowen has thrived since joining West Ham from Hull City in 2020 and is one of only seven players to have recorded 20 or more goal involvements in the Premier League this season.

Townsend telling talkSPORT: ‘Jarrod Bowen has been great. He’s been so good lately.

‘I tell you what, I bet you West Ham get a bid or two for him in the summer, I bet they do.

‘Would you have him at Manchester United? Like a shot you would.

‘He can play anywhere. I’ve seen him play up the middle for West Ham, on one side. For United, he’d get in the team wherever he likes! I would play him off the right-hand side.’

Asked whether Bowen should expect a call up from England boss Gareth Southgate ahead of the Qatar World Cup, Townsend added: ‘He’s a good player.

‘Should he be on the plane? He probably won’t get on the plane, will he? It’s just happened a bit late and I think that most of the seats on that plane are taken.

‘With all of the players at the top of the field that Gareth has got to choose from, I don’t quite see him getting on the plane unless he features in some of these Nations League games and plays unbelievably well.

‘But he’s a dangerous boy, there’s no doubt about that.’

More to overhauling, winning, Ten Hag handed serious warning over United job

Published

on

While it has been stated that overhauling and returning to winning ways is a major job for Man United new manager Erik ten Hag, Kevin Campbell has warned him that has “a hell of a job” to sort out the dressing room issues.

The ex-Arsenal and Everton striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted that the dressing room is “the big problem” that needs to be resolved at Old Trafford.

This might have been identified by Erik ten Hag as he earlier stressed the importance of “the dressing room” when discussing how he would handle the English media.

When asked by Football Insider if the dressing room was the biggest problem facing Ten Hag, Campbell said: “Ten Hag is spot on.

“That is the big problem at Manchester United, 100 per cent.

“The dressing room is the hub of any football club. If the dressing room isn’t right, you do not see the performances out on the pitch. You see disjointed performances. We have seen disjointed performances from Manchester United because not everybody is on the same page.

“Ten Hag is right. That dressing room has to be sorted out. Everybody needs to be on the same page.

“He has a hell of a job on his hands to sort it out though.”

Neville reminds United how they refused to listen to his advice to sign this special player

Published

on

Gary Neville has reminded Man United of how they fail to go by his recommendation to have signed Joao Cancelo when the full-back was playing under him at Valencia.

Recall that Neville briefly managed Cancelo six years ago during his ill-fated spell in charge of Valencia in the 2015-16 season and knew the talent the player is made of.

However, his recommendation fell on deaf ears as Louis van Gaal was in charge at the time, though he was sacked not long after and replaced by Jose Mourinho – and Cancelo left Valencia for Juventus two years later.

Speaking about the City full-back during an Instagram Live, Neville said: ‘He’s unbelievable, he’s brilliant.

‘I think Cancelo is a brilliant full-back. I never had any doubts when I was at Valencia for those four months that he was going to be a top player.

‘I literally told United about him. I said, “Honestly this boy is someone special you’ve got to look at getting him.”

‘And then he went to Juventus to be fair, [Valencia] sold him for £40million to Juventus, and then obviously City bought him for £60m. He went to Inter Milan [on loan] as well.

‘He had two big moves, he’s got massive experience now, he’s got great courage on the ball, left and right foot, brilliant player.’

Erik ten Hag told the Chelsea player he should sign, not Kante

Published

on

Marco van Basten has urged Erik ten Hag to sign Chelsea midfielder Hakim Ziyech for Manchester United this summer.

This is as the club is also linked with the signature of N’Golo Kante.

However, during Ziggo Sport’s show ‘Rondo’ on Monday evening which featured Ten Hag as its guest, Van Basten suggested that Ziyech could also thrive under the new United manager at Old Trafford.

‘What comes to my mind now is that I think Ziyech who already plays in England could be a very good footballer at Manchester United for Erik,’ Van Basten said.

However, Ten Hag refused to respond to Van Basten’s suggestion and insisted that he is already used to dealing with transfer speculation before joining United.

‘Of course this was already the case at Ajax,’ said Ten Hag.

‘You take that in and then you have to continue to work well with the dressing room and with people within the club.

‘You have to analyse well and make the right choices.’

The Red Devils boss also also confirmed that he is already preparing for United’s pre-season campaign after deciding to not travel with Ajax’s squad for the post-season trip to Curacao.

‘I have started working today,’ Ten Hag said.

‘I already did the first things with Manchester United today. Tomorrow I will continue with that.

‘I will stay here. I will meet people from Manchester here.

‘I will organise the staff, make the schedule for next season, and prepare the squad for next season.’
