Mikel Arteta given advice to complete this cut-price transfer “puzzle”

Published

on

Former Man United star Owen Hargreaves has given a major advice to manager Mikel Arteta to add to his squad as the window enters its final days.

The Gunners had a busy window, spending over £100 million to bring in Gabriel Jesus, Oleksandr Zinchenko, Matt Turner Marquinhos and Fabio Vieira.

This signings have proven to be effective as they have helped Arteta’s team to secure maximum points from three games.

However, Owen Hargreaves said Arsenal can do more to strengthen before the end of the window while asking Edu to round off the summer by finding the final piece of their “puzzle”.

“Interestingly I think for Mikel and Edu, two central midfield players – I’d say that the weakest part of that team right now is probably there. I think that is probably where they have really good pieces of the puzzle,” he told Optus Sport.

“I think you can invest big on a guy there to carry you to take the next step. I think they are really close but maybe one guy that can make a difference is that central midfield position.”

This advice from Owen Hargreaves is however, timely as Leicester City have reportedly decided to lower their asking price for Youri Tielemans to £17 million to avoid the midfielder from leaving the club for free next summer.

All may not be well with Arsenal January target as his agent pleads with fans

Following the failed move to Arsenal, Roberto De Zerbi, who thinks his client will no longer be in the good books of Brighton supporters, pleads on his behalf.

Moises Caicedo had pushed for a move to Arsenal but Brighton blocked the move with outrageous fee, hence the midfielder has to return to the club.

Caicedo had written openly on his Social media plage, urging Brighton to let him go but the club seems unhappy with that.

De Zerbi insists the midfielder should not be criticised for his push to join Arsenal.

‘I was always honest and clear with you and I want to also be this time honest and clear,’ De Zerbi said on Friday.

‘I am very happy Moises stays with us until the end of the season.

‘I want to speak to our fans because I want them to support him. I don’t want them to criticise him. I love Moises, the people who work inside of Brighton love Moises, he’s a good guy.

‘I don’t know if he made a mistake or not but the transfer market is closed and the fans must follow me because I take responsibility for him. And if I say something so clear about Moises, they have to believe in me.’

What latest Arsenal signing did that makes him celebrates at the Emirates Stadium

Jakub Kiwior was celebrated at the Emirates Stadium as he broke three records in his first training sessions with Arsenal, according to reports.

Kiwior, who joined the North London outfit from Spezia has immediately ensured a solid back up for William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes, who have formed a solid partnership at the heart of Arsenal’s defence this season.

More to this, the 22-year-old has set new benchmarks for the fastest short sprint, highest agility jump and standing spring record.

Speaking at his press conference on Friday, Mikel Arteta described Kiwior as a ‘young talent with incredible potential who’s going to adapt really well to our way playing’.

Also, his agent revealed that a number of tops Italian Serie A teams were interested in Kiwior.

‘All the important Italian clubs other than Inter showed interest, including Napoli, AC Milan and Juventus,’ agent Sasha Baranov told TV Play.

‘However, with Napoli’s current situation, they didn’t need to change their team in January and wanted to continue talks in the summer. You all know what happened at Juventus [points deduction], while Milan also waited, and you know what happens when the Premier League clubs come in.

‘When a side like Arsenal come along, it becomes difficult for a 22-year-old to say no. If it was Juventus or another big club coming in, it may well have been the same situation, but Arsenal are the only side who really pushed the talks forward.

‘We honestly didn’t expect it to all move so fast, we thought he would stay in January and leave Spezia in June. Arsenal came in and the player did not put pressure on his club, he just said that if the move was to happen, then good, otherwise he was happy to wait.’

Arteta tells fans what they didn’t know that made Arsenal miss out on two January targets

Published

Arsenal missed out on two targets with Mykhaylo Mudryk from Shakhtar Donetsk and Brighton’s midfielder Moises Caicedo.

This did not go down with the fans as they called out Edu for ‘failing in his responsibility’

However Mike Arteta has defended the club’s sporting director Edu, saying it was only natural for a club of Arsenal’s financial limitations to be in a position where they would consistently need to adapt.

He said: ‘I’m really happy with what we’ve done. For what you plan and what you can actually do in this industry, normally that doesn’t happen, so you have to mould and adapt.

‘We’ve done that and the most important thing is the profile of the person, and the quality that we bring in makes us better, and I’ve no doubt that we have done that.’

Arteta also spoke about the coming of Jorginho who will step in for Mohammed Elneny after the Egyptian had a season-ending injury.

He said: ‘We knew that in this market, you have to adapt and you have to be flexible. You have to be ready for inconvenience.

‘We had one with the latest news on Mo’s injury and we needed a player in that position.

‘He’s a player I’ve always admired. He’s a great character and he’s someone who is going to bring leadership and quality in that position. He’s going to help the team a lot.’

Arsenal fans told this ‘controversial’ signing is a phenomenal addition, gives stunning reasons

Spurs expert John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels has told Arsenal fans that Jorginho is a phenomenal addition to their team.

The signature of Jorginho on transfer deadline was greeted with controversies as some fans were against his coming.

The Gunners wanted Moises Caicedo but Brighton were unwilling to part ways with him, hence a need for someone who will stand in for injured Mohamed Elneny.

However, Wenham admits Arsenal have secured a major upgrade to their midfield options.

“When I call Arsenal a ‘Chelsea retirement home’, I do so in jest,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“Jorginho is a very good signing. The question is, is he an upgrade on Elneny who is injured for a couple of months?

“Is he better than Lokonga who looks a million miles away than the required level? The answer to both is yes.

“It’s a phenomenal upgrade so straight away you now have three top-table Premier League midfielders in Partey Xhaka and Jorginho.

“Just look at what he’s won in the last two years, Champions League, Euros, FA Cup, Club World Cup, it’s a no-brainer for Arsenal.

“To get him for £10million or £12million is a phenomenal piece of business.”

Arsenal fans told the intelligent player out of the 3 January signings, fans may not agree

Alan Hutton is has described Mikel Arteta’s signing of Jorginho as an intelligent one.

Arsenal brought in Leandro Trossard, Jakub Kiwior and Jorginho this January winter transfer window.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Tottenham and Aston Villa defender said that although at first glance Jorginho doesn’t appear to be an Arsenal signing, he will inevitably come good.

Hutton suggested the signing is not as strange as people might think.

“I think Chelsea are just in a world of their own at this moment in time,” he told Football Insider.

“The amount of players that they are bringing in, you have to shift players out. You can’t just retain those sorts of numbers, especially when they are that level of football player you have to move them on.

“So I think it is a good move for Arsenal, I think it is an intelligent one. Even though at first glance he might not fit into their way of playing, I think there will come a time where he will be needed.

“Later on in the season, he is cool with the ball and that could be something that they could need later on because he has got that experience.“

Crystal Palace manager Patrick Vieira has dropped a major hint on why he signed Sambi Lokonga on loan from Arsenal.

He also hinted that he would deploy the youngster in his side’s clash against Man United this weekend.

In his pre-match press conference, the former Arsenal captain said: ‘[Lokonga] has experience of knowing the Premier League. He has got technical ability to play well and to improve our play.

‘I still believe that there is more to come from him, because he is capable of running in behind and getting involved in the opposition box. His mobility and strength will help us.

‘What is important is for him to get more involved and play more games. We will give him that opportunity. Of course, he will have to work hard to deserve to get that space.

‘But he believes that this was the right decision for the next step for his career, and we will work with him and improve him like we did with a couple of other players we had on loan.

‘I’m really pleased with the two players that we managed to bring in. It’s a different profile to what we have and that will give me a different option in the games. Both of them will be in the squad tomorrow.’
