Man United, Chelsea keen on Declan Rice

Published

on

The news of interests in West Ham United midfielder Declan Rice is almost unending as he has amassed a lot of suitors for the past transfer windows without making any move yet.

West London outfit Chelsea were keen on the signature of England’s international as Chelsea sees him as a top target but the deal did not work out in the last summer transfer window as both London clubs failed to find a common ground on the fee.

Manchester United are also linked with the signature of Declan Rice and it is now claimed that manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is an admirer of the midfielder and willing to bring him to Old Trafford as soon as possible.

The Red Devils are said to be making moves to bring in four new faces over the next two transfer windows, and a new central midfielder is allegedly high on the club’s wishlist with Declan Rice as the best fit.

Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is now set to land his transfer targets after claims that the players bought by the club in the last summer transfer window were never his wish. This time Declan Rice tops the list.

However, the Red Devils must be ready for a battle against Chelsea for the 21-year-old as he is also linked with a return to Chelsea over the summer. Both clubs will have to meet the asking fee as West Ham United have made it clear that they would not entertain offers of under £80m.

Declan Rice is an important player for West Ham United as he did not miss a single minute of Premier League football for West Ham this season and has worn the captain’s armband.

Any club that must win his signature must assure him of a regular playing time as he is also important to the England national team.

The former Chelsea youth player has a contract at the London Stadium until June 2024 but he is unlikely to see it out if the interests in his service persist.

What Thomas Tuchel and Klopp said about Ralf Rangnick, might not be what you expected

Published

on

Man United have reportedly settled for German manager, Ralf Rangnick as their interim boss and he is expected to take charge of the game between the Red Devils and Arsenal early December.

Chelsea and Liverpool managers, having worked in Germany and played against him, have reacted to the reported recruit of Rangnick as it is yet to be official.

Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel had to react to Rangnick’s expected arrival. He did not speak of the challenge he would bring to the EPL as expected but hailed the tremendous impact his compatriot has had on his own career at his pre-match press conference.

‘He helped me a lot because he was my coach and then he was one of the main figures to convince me to try coaching so he had a huge influence on all of us at this time,’ the Chelsea head coach said.

‘He showed us it’s not necessary to follow people to the toilet in football games because that was the belief in these days, that the defenders follow the strikers wherever they go. He showed us it’s possible to defend everybody in a zone.

‘But listen, before I get carried away and talk too much, he is not appointed yet and let’s respect everybody.

‘Let’s respect Ralf and the club’s decision and when things are done then you can maybe talk about it.’

Also on his part, Liverpool head coach Klopp, speaking at his press conference, said that United were ‘unfortunately’ making a very shrewd move by bringing in Rangnick as their manager until the end of the season.

‘So it’s a bit tricky, usually we don’t talk about things that are not confirmed yet but if you tell me it will happen then I might believe you,’ Klopp told reporters ahead of Liverpool’s clash with Southampton.

‘Yeah, unfortunately a good coach is coming to England, that’s how it is, to Manchester United.

‘He’s obviously a really, really experienced manager. He built most famously two clubs from nowhere to proper threats and proper forces in Germany with Hoffenheim and Leipzig.

‘He’s done a lot of different jobs in football but always his first concern was being a coach actually, being a manager, and that’s what his best skill is obviously.

‘United will be organised, I think, on the pitch. I think we should realise that and that’s obviously not good news for other teams.

‘But like all coaches in the world, we need time to train with our teams and Ralf will pretty quickly realise he has no time to train because they play all the time so that makes it a bit trickier for him.

‘But apart from that a really good man and an outstanding coach, if it happens, will come to England.’

Asked to expand on Rangnick’s reputation in Germany and their personal relationship, Klopp added: ‘Between the coaches he is very highly regarded obviously.

‘Where he was, he did incredible jobs. It started early as a very, very young man at Stuttgart coaching the second team, going from there.

‘I don’t know all the early clubs he had but I’m pretty sure he went to Ulm and brought them to the Bundesliga which was absolutely insane at that time and then made his way up from there.

‘We faced each other for the first time really when I was a really young coach and he was at Hannover.

‘He might have forgotten that but they played always our opponent a week later so he called me the young manager of Mainz and asked plenty of questions.

‘I was happy that big Ralf Rangnick was calling me but he got all the information he needed and they got promoted and we didn’t so he owes me still something and apart from that in the football world in Germany he is very, very well regarded and rightly so.’

Soon to be Manchester United manager Ralf Rangnick reportedly rejected an offer in the past to take charge of Chelsea due to the terms of the contract handed to him.

The German is expected to replace Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who was dismissed from his role following United’s embarrassing 4-1 defeat against Watford.

However, he could have been in charge at Chelsea but he refused the terms of the contract.

It is understood that he was approached by the Blues after Frank Lampard, was sacked for a temporal role but the German coach was against the idea.

Rangnick is poised to join the Manchester club on an initial six-month contract before taking a two-year consultancy role off the pitch.

Speaking to The Times in February, Rangnick revealed: “I said: ‘I would like to come and work with you, but I can’t do it for four months. I’m not an interim coach.”

Later he was asked if he would move to England, to which he replied: “It would have to be something special. It depends on the club and whether you want to work with a German coach.”

The Blues eventually settled for Thomas Tuchel, who ended up leading the team to Champions League glory in his first season.

Thomas Tuchel has so far done well s he has helped Stamford Bridge-outfit to remain top of the league.

But former Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny has named Chelsea as the best team in Europe following their 4-0 demolition of Juventus in the Champions League on Tuesday evening.

Szczesny said Chelsea made Juventus look like a ‘middle-class team’.

When asked by Polsat Sport if his experience of playing Chelsea at Stamford Bridge is the same as it was during his time at Arsenal, Szczesny replied: ‘Yes, only their team plays even better, because at the moment I think they are the best team in Europe.

‘You have to congratulate them and try, maybe not in the near future, but try to catch up with them.

‘Chelsea were in control of this game and we weren’t really able to face them.

‘Much was missing. In practically every element of the game, we faced a better team.

‘The score really reflects what the difference between the teams was today, so it’s hard to say one thing that made that score.

‘Rather, we just had a big-class and middle-class team on the pitch.’

Chelsea record big win against Juventus but has this bad news to bear with

Published

on

Chelsea enjoyed a sweet 4-0 win over Juventus in the Champions League on Tuesday night, but went home with some bad news as they lost two major players to injuries.

Both N’Golo Kante and Ben Chilwell suffered knee injuries and will be away for a couple of games.

The win was enjoyed for a moment with Trevoh Chalobah, Reece James, Callum Hudson-Odoi and Timo Werner all on the score sheet.

However, manager Thomas Tuchel confirmed the bad news, saying that Kante limped off in the first half, replaced by Ruben Loftus-Cheek, while Chilwell looked in more pain in the second half as he was helped off the field, replace by Cesar Azpilicueta.

He however, did not give details of how long they will be away.

‘He [Chilwell] has a sharp pain in the knee, unfortunately N’Golo as well, he twisted his knee a little bit,’ Tuchel told BT Sport. ‘I can tell you more tomorrow, they will both be examined.

‘That was the only two things that were very sad because N’Golo was again fantastic until the moment he went off.

‘Chilly is in a fantastic moment, so, so important for him personally, so, so strong. Let’s hope for the best.’

Shaun Wright-Phillips gives these two players reasons why they must not return to Chelsea now

Published

Shaun Wright-Phillips has warned Conor Gallagher and Billy GIlmour against cutting their respective loans short because of a January return to Chelsea.

Gallagher has been able to establish himself at Crystal Palace, picking up four goals and three assists in 11 Premier League starts for the south London club, no wonder he got a call from Gareth Southgate for the England national team.

Meanwhile, it is a different story for Gilmour as he has found game time a lot harder to come by at Norwich this term.

With reports that they could both be called back to the Stamford Bridge in January, Wrights believes they should remain until the end of the season.

‘If I was either of those two players, especially playing the way that they are both playing. I think the best bet for them personally is to stay where they are,’ he told Metro.co.uk.

‘Especially Conor, he’s loved at Crystal Palace, Patrick Vieira plays him all the time, he’s doing really really well. He’s getting assists and goals.

‘Billy, since the sacking of the manager and Dean Smith’s gone in, apart from Scotland Billy is playing outstanding well. He played magnificently for Norwich on Saturday.

‘The way he plays for Scotland, he’ll fit into a lot of Premier League teams’ starting XI’s every game and possibly some teams’ first name on the team sheet.

‘For me, while they’re playing so well and gaining all this Premier League experience and learning I think they should just stay there and get on with it.’

Rio Ferdinand tells Chelsea what to do with Antonio Rudiger after performance against Leicester

Antonio Rudiger had a masterclass performance against Leicester City on Saturday, help Thomas Tuchel’s side with a 3-0.

Meanwhile, he is yet to sign a new deal as talks stall.Chelsea reluctant to cave into Rudiger’s demands, with the defender looking for a salary in excess of £200,000-a-week.

But Rio Ferdinand has urged Chelsea’s board to pay contract rebel Antonio Rudiger whatever he wants because he deserves to be one of the club’s highest earners.

Speaking on BT Sport after the Leicester game, Ferdinand said: ‘Well I think they’ve got to pay him so he is feeling that he’s getting paid what he feels he should be, which is at the upper echelons of the squad.

‘Wherever the highest earners are, I think he sees himself as part of that. If you look in this squad of players you wouldn’t want to lose, for a number of week or a number of games, he’d be one of the first on your list in terms of you’d want to keep him in there.

‘Because his influence, he’s aggressive, he sets the tone a lot of the time, and when they need to shut the door at the back he’s normally the one who puts his foot in where it hurts.’

Published

on

It will not be out of place for legendary manager, Arsene Wenger to apologize to Arsenal fans after revealing that he had the chance to sign France international, N’Golo Kante for the Gunners but he refused to do so.

Although, when the opportunity came, the Chelsea star was not yet at his best as he was just starting his career. This could be the only consideration for Wenger, to suggest that he could not see the star in the midfielder at the time.

Asked which player he regretted not signing the most in an interview with Ian Wright, Wenger told LADbible: ‘Certainly Cristiano Ronaldo.

‘I thought it was possible and if we had been a fraction quicker, a few days, because we had agreed [a deal], and Man United came in five or six days later.

‘So I would say at the start of my career, Cristiano Ronaldo. At the end of my career, N’Golo Kante.’

‘He told me, “Please, I have a player we know is unbelievable but nobody wants him in France.”

Howbeit, N’Golo has gone to become one of the best midfielders in the world, starting from when he was at Leicester City, where he won the EPL.

EPL: Chelsea fans need hear this, big claim made about Blues team

Published

on

Chelsea fans will have reasons to be happy as Glenn Hoddle predicted that the Blues will win the Premier League title ahead of Manchester City and Liverpool due to their consistency.

Liverpool have dropped points so far this season, especially after their last defeat against West Ham United at press time, a development that sees them behind the Blues.

For Man City, they have been a consistent side but Hoddle says he tipped the Thomas Tuchel side to win at the end of the season.

When asked who he’s tipping for the title, the former Blues and England manager told talkSPORT: ‘Chelsea. I saw Man City outplay them at the Bridge and beat them 1-0, Chelsea couldn’t get near them.

‘But to be honest, they haven’t got to play Man City every week, have they!

‘They look the most consistent team, they’re more consistent than anyone.

‘Who will be in the top four? City, Chelsea, Liverpool… it’s a bun fight.

‘I can’t say Arsenal.’

Meanwhile, Thomas Tuchel has spoken about his side in the race, saying he won’t look too far.

‘Yes because if you are in the middle then it proves you are in the right place,’ the German boss told a press conference on Friday.

‘Nobody expected the title race to be decided in November so it is good news if we are in it.

‘But it is November, it doesn’t help if we speak too much about it like City and Liverpool have proved over the last years. We want to be in it.’
