Man City told how to react to United’s signing of Cristiano Ronaldo

Former Manchester City defender Joleon Lescott has urged the club to sign Robert Lewandowski as a way of responding to Man United’s signing of Cristiano Ronaldo.

The Red Devils signed their former player and that makes them more of a threat than they have been, especially in the race to win the epl title.

Lescott said Lewandowski can fill their vacant striking position as Pep Guardiola has missed out on two top targets this summer in a bid to replace Man City legend Sergio Aguero.

Speaking on Saturday, Lescott name-dropped Lewandowski as the striker Guardiola should pursue next.

He told BT Sport: “What he brings to the club is a level of professionalism and mentality.

“Greenwood and Sancho, for example, are going to see what it takes to be the best they can be at all stages of their career. They aren’t going to take that lightly.

“It doesn’t weaken Man City for not getting those players. They’re still title contenders no matter what.

“In terms of City, they’ve got a stronger squad than they had last year. They’ve acquired Jack Grealish, who, for me, is proven at the level and is an exciting talent.

“When they lost out on Kane and Ronaldo, Pep said there are three players who can choose where they want to play.

“One of them being Messi and one being Ronaldo, and there was another. For me, that can only be Lewandowski.

“He’s spoken about wanting to leave and having another challenge, so it wouldn’t surprise me if he came through the door.”

Meanwhile, Guardiola hints that City will not look to sign Lewandowski before Tuesday’s 11pm transfer deadline.

Instead, a pursuit may have to wait until January or indeed the 2022 summer window.

Legend ignores Man Utd, names six teams that can win champions league

Danny Murphy

Experienced legend, Danny Murphy has listed the six clubs he thinks can win the Champions League this season.

His list include title holders Chelsea, Manchester City and Liverpool. However, Manchester United was not mentioned.

Danny Murphy predicts English clubs could be a dominant force in Europe this campaign, with Chelsea hoping to defend the title they won after beating Manchester City in last season’s champions league final.

For Liverpool, they reached successive Champions League finals in 2018 and 2019 and would be eager to challenge for another this seasonn.

Danny Murphy insists Manchester City are one of the favorites as with Chelsea, Liverpool, Bayern Munich, PSG and Atletico Madrid.

Asked which teams he expects to challenge for the Champions League title, Murphy told MailSport:

“I personally think the winners will come from one of six – Manchester City, Liverpool, Chelsea, Bayern Munich and PSG.

“Atletico are an outsider because Diego Simeone has matchwinners in Luis Suarez and Griezmann in addition to the remarkable team spirit he’s fostered.”

Why Man Utd may not win trophy

Rio Ferdinand, has said the Manchester United inexperience could stop themfrom winning the Champions League this season.

Man United manager has brought in Cristiano Ronaldo, Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane this summer, as he seeks to win his first title at Old Trafford.

However, the team have not won any silverware since the Europa League final in 2017.

Their rivals, Liverpool and Chelsea have won both the Premier League and Champions League while Manchester City have won last season’s fina, their third league title in four years under experienced coach Pep Guardiola.

“I think Man United’s not a problem, but where they’re behind the other three English teams, is the experience of winning things.

“All the other three English teams have won things, whether it be the Champions League or the Premier League. Man United have yet to do that as this group.

“That’s where they are lacking, and that’s where they’ve got to play catch up and they’ve got to do that this season. The transfer window for them has been impeccable, but that’s got to translate into trophies,” Ferdinand told BT Sport.

What Solskjaer said about Man Utd 2-1 defeat to Young Boys

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, has lambasted his side following a 2-1 defeat to Young Boys on yesterday.

Manchester United began their Champions League campaign with a shock loss to Young Boys.

The Red Devil took the lead when Cristiano Ronaldo scored his third goal since he returned to Old Trafford.

Later on, the game turned around after Aaron Wan-Bissaka received a straight red card for his challenge on Christopher Martins.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, has lay blames on his team following a 2-1 defeat to Young Boys on Tuesday.

The Switzerland side eventually drew level, thanks to Moumi Ngameleu’s strike.

The match should have been a draw but Lingard tried to find David de Gea but his pass found Theoson Siebatcheu.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has seriously warned his squad that they must learn from their mistakes if they are to avoid an early exit from the championship competition.

“A lack of concentration, you make a mistake and you get done. We did that last year, conceding two sloppy counter-attacks against Basaksehir and lost that game in the last seconds today.

“So we know we’ve given ourselves a more difficult task. We did last year when everyone thought we were through after two games.

“You need 10 or 12 points: win your home games and one away from home. We’ve lost the opportunity to get three points, but we’ve got two home games next and got to focus on those two,” Solskjaer said after the game.
