Latest development on Dominik Szoboszlai’s future favours Arsenal

Published

on

Football journalist David Ornstein has given the latest development on the future of RB Salzburg star Dominik Szoboszlai, and the interest from Arsenal ahead of the summer transfer window.

Arsenal have identified Dominik Szoboszlai as an alternative to French Ligue 1 outfit Lyon star, Houssem Aouar after failing to land the France international last summer transfer window.

Ornstein recently co-hosted the latest episode of The Athletic’s Ornstein & Chapman Podcast speaking about Dominik Szoboszlai and a number of Premier League stories.

David Ornstein noted that it will not be surprising for Dominik Szoboszlai to leave RB Leipzig after joining them, and he is sure of Arsenal’s interest in the player, hinting that all hope is not lost in his chase.

The 20-year-old has enjoyed 81 appearances, scoring 25 goals and 34 assists since joining the club in the 2020.

Arsenal will have to make extra efforts in landing Dominik Szoboszlai from RB Leipzig.

Also, RB Salzburg boss, who spoke about the interest in his player and what the future holds for him, said “Yes. The reality is that a guy like Dominik Szoboszlai is likely to have many suitors.

“He’s an incredible talent, and I say this: When you coach young players, you have to love them and love the fact that they’re going to move on and love that they’re going to have big opportunities to prove themselves and show how good they are. If you’re only worried about how it affects your success, then you’re not really going to ever be effective at coaching and leading young people.”

Unknown to many, Arsenal made a great signing this January

Danny Murphy has disagreed with the reservations by some fans about the signing of Jorginho as he claimed that Arsenal did a ‘great piece of business’ by brining in the Italian midfielder.

The former Tottenham ace who believes the midfielder is perfect back-up for Thomas Partey and Granit Xhaka added that his experience can can take the Gunners through the title challenge.

The former Napoli man completed a £12m move to the Emirates on Tuesday, signing an 18-month deal with the Gunners.

He comes in as an alternative to Moises Caicedo after the move failed.

Murphy disagrees with any criticism and says the Italy international will prove to be a shrew piece of business.

‘It’s a really clever piece of business that,’ Murphy told talkSPORT.

‘Partey is struggling a bit, he doesn’t tend to play a full season. He came off at half-time in the City game. You need some cover.

‘I think he is somebody who you know will cope with any high pressure group he’s put into, whether it’s off the bench or starting. If they’re still in the race with 10 games to go – which they should be – and Partey’s injured then Jorginho comes in the team and you know what you’re going to get.

‘He doesn’t quite have Partey’s physicality but knitting the game together, talking to people around him, knowing the position.

‘Anyone doubting him that move, I don’t see where the sceptiscim comes from to be honest with you. For the price – what is it? £12m? – It’s a great piece of business that.’

Gabby Agbonlahor says Arsenal fans have reasons to ve “worried” if there are plans to play Jorginho in a holding role after his deadline day arrival.

The former Aston Villa striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted the 31-year-old cannot play the same role as talismanic midfielder Thomas Partey.

Jorginho, in a shock move, joined Arsenal from Chelsea after the North London outfit failed to land Moises Caicedo from Brighton.

Agbonlahor told Football Insider’s Ewan Kingsbury: “He’ll bring a lot of experience, and a lot of know-how about winning trophies.

“But I do worry about him if Thomas Partey is injured. I worry about that midfield.

“He lacks the legs, the pace – he can’t play the role that Partey plays.

“With Odegaard and Xkaha bombing forward, I don’t think you can leave Jorginho as a sitting midfielder.

“It’s a worry for me – and it’s strange that they let Lokonga go as well.”

Meanwhile, a section of the fans are unhappy about the coming of Jorginho but manager Mikel Arteta has hailed him for having the experience to add to his squad.

Chris Sutton is of the opinion that Chelsea goofed to have allowed Jorginho join Arsenal.

The Gunners secured the signature of the Italian for a £12 million deal after they failed to land Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo.

Jorginho was not in the picture as at the start of the January transfer window but with the disappointment from Brighton, Mikel Arteta made his alternative choice clear.

Chris Sutton says he was ‘surprised’ Chelsea decided to ‘help’ Premier League leaders and London rivals Arsenal by agreeing to sell Jorginho.

According to him, the Gunners now look stronger and more like a title winning side .

‘I think, from Arsenal’s point of view, he may be the signing which helps him win the Premier League. I think that he’s a really talented player.

‘From Arsenal’s point of view, that’s a 10/10 signing. I really think that’s a no brainer and a smart piece of business.’

Arteta also hailed the move, saying, ‘Jorginho is a midfield player who has intelligence, deep leadership skills and a huge amount of Premier League and international experience.

Carragher reveals only concern about Jorginho’s move to Arsenal

Published

on

Jamie Carragher has claimed that the only concern about Jorginho’s move to Arsenal is his style of play and how it will fit into Mikel Arteta’s system.

Although he admitted that the former Chelsea player could be a ‘big help’ in Arsenal’s push for the Premier League title.

Arsenal completed a £12m deal to sign Jorginho from London rivals Chelsea on transfer deadline day.

‘Arsenal have gone for [Moises] Caicedo, but maybe they cannot get that done from Brighton, so they have gone for Jorginho, who is an interesting one,’ Carragher told Sky Sports.

‘I can totally understand it, but I was listening to people talk about it today, and he is not the sort of style for Arsenal’s play, which is so quick, fast and energetic now and he is the opposite of that and I get that argument.

‘But I also think that with maybe 10 games to go in the season, when they might actually need cool heads, when there is a pressure moment and the nerves are coming on in that title run, he may actually be a really good signing in terms of slowing things down with a cool head.

‘He is a player that has won the Champions League, he has won a European Championship in the last few years, so he is a top player, there is no doubt about that, but he is a different style of player.

‘But I am not saying that is for Arsenal week in, week out forever, but I think that could be a big help for them towards the end of the season when they get nervous.’

Fans will love what Lokonga said after leaving Arsenal on loan

Sambi Lokonga has claimed that it was ‘not easy’ to leave Arsenal this January transfer window.

According to him, it happened with the encouragement of Gunners legend Patrick Vieira.

He was identified as the fringe player in Mikel Arteta’s team as he failed to impress with the few opportunities handed to him for games.

However, after securing the deal, Palace chairman Steve Parish revealed on Tuesday that the club have been tracking Lokonga for a number of years.

Sambi has now joined the club after Arsenal secured the signature of Jorginho as he needed to get playing time elsewhere to enhance his development.

‘It was not easy [to leave Arsenal] because as you can see they are top of the league, but for me the important thing was the confidence of the coach,’ Lokonga told Palace’s website.

‘I had him on the phone and it was a good opportunity to come here, to show myself and to help the boys reach their objectives.

‘He said to me ‘welcome’. He is going to push me to be a better player – I am looking forward to it.’

Lokonga made 15 appearances for Arsenal this season but managed just two starting appearances in the Premier League.

Agent of interesting Spanish youngster gives stunning claim why move to Arsenal failed

Published

on

The agent of Real Valladolid defender Ivan Fresneda has explained why the teen’s move to the Emirates Stadium failed.

Both Arsenal and Borussia Dortmund wanted the youngster during the January market.

Luis Bardaji, the 18-year-old’s agent said Fresneda plans to “keep his feet on the ground” at the LaLiga club after the Gunners and Borussia Dortmund competed for a £13million deal.

“There have been around 30 teams interested,” he told AS. “But the truth is that he has hardly aroused interest in Spanish football, but in Germany, France or England there has been interest.

“Some because they had a specific need in this market and others with a vision of the future, but times are what they are.

“Fresneda will be at Real Valladolid until the end of the season. We want him to have his feet on the ground and in other teams he was not going to have the continuity he needs now.”

He therefore opened the door for a big-money move in the summer and described Arsenal and Dortmund as “two great clubs”.

” Over the weekend we already informed Real Valladolid that there was not going to be any offer, that he was not going to leave in the winter market,” he continued.

“For us it is not a bad situation, no drama, quite the opposite. Ivan is happy to play for Real Valladolid, to be under the orders of Pacheta, who is the one who has allowed him to enjoy the way he is doing now.

“If one day he has to leave, we would like it to be a historic sale for the club.”

Arsenal told they want to buy a player whose behavior is ‘downright stupid’

Published

on

Chris Sutton has says Arsenal target Moises Caicedo’s behaviour is ‘downright stupid.

The Gunners are keen on the midfielder as they seek to reinforce this transfer window and the player is also interested but a fee remains an hindrance to the deal.

Caicedo made it clear to Brighton that he wants to join the Gunners in a statement on Friday.

‘I am proud to be able to bring in a record transfer fee for Brighton which would allow them to reinvest it and help the club continue to be successful,’ he said in a statement.

‘The fans have taken me into their hearts and they will always be in my heart so I hope they can understand why I want to take up this magnificent opportunity.’

Sutton in his reaction, told the Daily Mail: ‘Moises Caicedo is either being very badly advised or he’s an idiot.

‘That social media post was downright stupid. He’s seen what Leandro Trossard did to get to Arsenal and he’s copying him.

‘But Brighton have every right to be standing firm on their £80m valuation.’

It is yet to be seen if the Gunners will end up signing Moises Caicedo as they are yet to have their offers being accepted.
