Kevin Campbell slams EPL over decision on Arsenal game against Newcastle over fans

Published

on

Kevin Campbell has slammed the Premier League over its plans to postpone Newcastle United’s game against Arsenal by 24 hours, because it would affect the fans.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Gunners and Everton striker said “it is sad” that fans who go to games are “an afterthought” for the governing bodies.

The game is supposed to be played on Sunday May 15 but the Premier League are planning to move the game to Monday night instead.

Such a change would make it very difficult for fans to return to London that night, especially via train.

When asked by Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs for his reaction to the report, Campbell said: “This conversation will be had 100 times.

“The Premier League don’t care about the fans. They just care about TV. If it’s on TV the fans are going to suffer. They don’t care at the end of the day because they are not just thinking about the UK.

“The fans that go to games are an afterthought. It is right? Absolutely not. But there is nothing we can do about it unfortunately. It is sad but it is true. The common fans suffers.”

A spokesman for the Arsenal Supporters Trust told the Daily Mail: ‘Time and again we see matches moved at short notice to times that are just impossible for fans.

“Arsenal as a club claim the views of fans matter. They need to do more than talk and start acting.”

No chance again, midfielder speaks on possible return to Arsenal

Lucas Torreira has stated clearly that there is no chance he would return to Arsenal in the nearest future.

Torreira’s bid for a permanent transfer to Fiorentina earlier in the summer has failed and he has been on the hunt for a new club, but he’s yet to find one.

Speaking to El Telegrafo, Torreira responded to a question about his chances of staying with Arsenal for the coming campaign.

“Chances? None,” Torreira insisted. “From the beginning, they told me that I didn’t have a place, so I don’t want to stay either because I suffered a lot, it cost me a lot to adapt and my idea is to go to Italy or Spain.”

He dismissed reports that his summer preference was to return to Fiorentina, while his representatives are now searching for an alternative.

“We are having conversations with many teams, but my representative is in charge of that, today I am enjoying my vacation.

“It was a long year with a lot of competition, and it was exhausting; I want to relax with my family. What I wanted was to stay at Fiorentina, but it didn’t happen for various reasons, so we’ll look for a new direction.”

This striker not going to Arsenal, Danny Murphy makes it very clear

Published

on

Former Liverpool man Danny Murphy s has made it clear that Robert Lewandowski is ‘not going to go to Arsenal’ this summer transfer window.

However, the Pundit told talkSPORT that Arsenal’s most realistic option is signing someone like Gabriel Jesus.

Murphy made this claim when he was asked who else Mikel Arteta could have brought in to score their goals.

“I think it’s a very good signing because I don’t what else they could do or who else they could get,” said Murphy. “Unless, they take a risk on somebody, polish and then make better. A diamond in the rough if you like, someone with potential.

“It’s a very simple equation when you are doing recruitment. It’s not the fancy world of computer football, where you say ‘I want him, so we will get him’.

“They can’t get Lewandowski, he’s not going to go to Arsenal. So, Jesus’ numbers, considering he’s not an out-and-out striker at Man City, he’s 1 in 2.4 games.

“If Arsenal are getting a striker who is 1 in 2 or less. Who is he? Where are they getting him from and how much is he going to cost? And will he even go there? I think they are getting the best in class that they can get.

“If he plays down the middle for them, and that regularly, then I think he can become a 1 in 2 or them. Arsenal need that type of striker.”

Journalist Martijn Krabbendam has claimed that Ajax will ‘almost’ be committing a ‘crime’ against Arsenal if they reject the Gunners offer for Lisandro Martinez.

The defender is wanted by both Arsenal and Man United with the Gunners claimed to have Made a second offer this week in the region of €40 Million (£34.5 Million).

This is according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano who tweeted: “Arsenal have submitted a new bid for Lisandro Martinez, as reported by @MikeVerweij. €40m with add-ons included, but Ajax always asked for €50m fee. Man Utd have also been in touch with his agent.

“Again , Ajax have no intention to sell both Lisandro and Jurrien Timber.”

However Dutch journalist Krabbendam has claimed that Ajax shouldn’t consider the player ‘indispensable’, and goes as far as to claim that it would be ‘almost a crime’ to turn down a bid in the region of 40-50 Million euro.

“Martinez is not someone of whom you think: he is indispensable ” Krabbendam told Voetbal Primeur (according to Sport Witness).

“Forty to fifty million they want. Fifty million for Martínez, that’s almost a crime if you don’t do it, isn’t it?

“You have an illustrious youth academy; then you get one out of it. Forty to fifty million euros: you have to do that immediately.”

When asked by Football Insider for his reaction to the latest, Campbell said: “He won’t go but football is a business at the end of the day.

“If Manchester City made it work in whatever way and it was beneficial for Arsenal then maybe they would be compelled to do the business.

“You have to remember, players will come and go. It would have to be worth Arsenal’s while if they were to let him go though.

“People talk about him being captain material. He has really suffered with injuries though. It might be something that Arteta looks at and says, ‘ Let’s do the business.’

Gabriel Jesus would-be new role at Arsenal hinted as pundit predicts his performance

Published

Noel Whelan has hinted that Gabriel Jesus could get a new role at Arsenal ahead of his move.

The Brazilian finally agreed terms with the Gunners and he is expected to be announced in the next few hours.

Noel Whelan predicts that Gabriel Jesus will shine at Arsenal as Mikel Arteta looks to revolutionise his attack in the 2022/23 season.

The former Leeds striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claimed the 25-year-old will be playing a different role to now-departed strikers Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette.

He told Football Insider‘s Ewan Kingsbury: “If Jesus is going to be playing through the middle for Arsenal, it could be that he is asked to play a slightly different role for Arteta.

“I think he’ll be looked at as a number nine. Arteta won’t want him drifting into the wide areas or into that number ten role.

“If you’re going to go out and buy a player like Gabriel Jesus, you need him running off the shoulder of defenders. That’s where we’ve seen him score so many goals – just by being in that six-yard box.

“It’ll be a different role than what we’ve seen the likes of Aubameyang and Lacazette do in the past.”

Jesus, whose Man City contract was set to expire in June 2023, will sign a lucrative five-year contract at the Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal incoming signing Gabriel Jesus, exposed to have been traumatised, deals given

Brazilian football expert, Tim Vickery has disclosed that Gabriel Jesus was traumatized some times ago because he failed to score a goal in the 2018 World Cup.

The Manchester City forward, who is now heading to Arsenal, had after the World Cup lamented that “I went to the World Cup as a key player and I ended up not scoring. It affects you.”

“I was scared by that. People will always remember Gabriel who did not score in the World Cup,” he told Globo TV.

He is now on expected to score goals for Mikel Arteta as the Brazilian is viewed as the replacement for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette.

Recall that Gabriel Jesus played the entire five games at the showpiece and failed to find the target once for Selecao in Russia as they crashed out to Belgium in the round of 16.

This weighed heavily on Jesus, whose poor form lasted for months into the 2018/19 season with City.

Vickery told talkSPORT, “The low point of his career was the last World Cup.

“In the World Cup he had a mare.

“He didn’t score a goal. Many maligned centre-forwards have scored for Brazil at the World Cup, but he didn’t manage one. It’s been a trauma for him ever since.”

Jamie O’Hara says he’s angry as Arsenal sign Gabriel Jesus, gives stunning reasons

Published

on

Former Tottenham midfielder Jamie O’Hara has confessed he is “angry” that Arsenal are set to complete the £45million signing of Gabriel Jesus from Manchester City.

The Gunners have sealed an agreement with the player’s camp and to become the fourth summer signing after Fabio Vieira, Matt Turner and Marquinhos.

According to the former Spur, the Brazilian striker was the “missing piece” for Mikel Arteta’s side, hence his anger at Tottenham for missing out.

“I’m angry because that is a great signing,” O’Hara told talkSPORT. “That puts them back amongst it, fair play to Edu and Arteta for getting him over the line. I think he is a brilliant striker. When I watch him for Man City I think he has got something special. He doesn’t want to play second fiddle to [Erling] Haaland and I think he is absolutely right.

“World Cup coming up and he wants to be involved in matches every week, and I think it is a top signing. I think that’s the missing piece that they didn’t have last season, they struggled for goals and I think it is a real top-class signing.

“It is annoying because I have gone big with Tottenham and I have said that we are going to win the transfer window and Arsenal again look like they are doing some decent business.

“If you can change the mentality of the group and get this squad of players in a better position when it comes to the crunch, because they flopped at the end of last season, they couldn’t handle the pressure. Another season of experience for this side with a few top-class signings, they could be onto a winner.”
