Kevin Campbell not convinced Arsenal will spend £30m on this goalkeeper

Former Arsenal striker Kevin Campbell has expressed doubt that the Gunners will splash £30 million on Sheffield United goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale this summer.

Arsenal have parted ways with Emi Martinez who has joined Aston Villa and have impressed in his first season. They are now left with Bernd Leno and seek to land an alternative that will give him the deserved competition.

Aaron Ramsdale has therefore, been the subject of much interest from the Gunners while he is also on the watch list of Tottenham Hotspur and Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Although the Blades keeper was initially left out of Gareth Southgate’s 26-man contingent after being included in the Three Lions’ provisional squad but he eventually made it after a hip issue sustained by Dean Henderson.

But after enduring a long international tournament, he is set to face his club future with Arsenal believed to have submitted a bid to him but was rejected.

Although, the young goalkeeper has reportedly reiterated his desire to remain with Sheffield United but Arsenal are still trying their hot on the goalkeeper.

Former Gunners forward and pundit Kevin Campbell does not believe the deal will happen. He said “I can’t see Arsenal paying £30 million for a back-up goalkeeper.

“Not in a month of Sunday’s. No chance.

“You can pay £30 million for a goalkeeper. But £30 million is a bit too heavy. I don’t think we are going for Ramsdale. I don’t honestly think that.

“What makes me say this is that there are better keepers out there that are cheaper.

“I don’t think it’s real. I don’t think Arsenal will spend £30 million on him. Listen, I might be wrong.”

According to reports the Gunners are planning a £250m spending spree after missing out on Europe last season and keen on a goalkeeper who can provide genuine competition to their number one Bernd Leno.

Arsenal legend begs Edu, Arteta to sign this star player

Mikel Arteta

Arsenal icon Kevin Campbell has urged manager Mikel Arteta and transfer chief, Edu to move for Yves Bissouma this summer.

The north Londoners have been linked with the Brighton star for a number of months now with the player open to a move to the Emirates Stadium.

In June, football.london reported that the 24-year-old had instructed his agent to try and get him to Arsenal with the same outlet claiming in January that the Gunners had made contact with Bissouma’s representatives.

With a £40million price tag Campbell is convinced that the Gunners would benefit by having the Malian in their ranks.

“Bissouma, for me, he is the ideal partner in there for Thomas Partey,” he told Highbury Squad.

“He is combative, he is a lot better on the ball than people give him credit for, the kid can play.

“He is young, he knows the Premier League, he is tough, he tracks back, he puts the tackles in, he is box-to-box, if you need him he can hold.

“That’s my guy!”

“He’s got that quality (to play in the Champions League), he’s got those attributes that you need at that level,” said Potter. “It’s about him being consistent enough to do that. I think he’s made steps with that but there’s still more to do and more to come.”

“It’s just nice that our players have taken a step forward, it’s nice for Yves that he’s taken a step forward. You never know anything in football these days. But from his perspective, I think he’s happy here, he wants to help the team, so we are quite relaxed about everything,” he added

It is yet to be seen if Arsenal will listen to their former player to sign the midfielder as they are also keen on a partner for Ghanaian international Thomas Partey, with the future of Granit Xhaka also unsure.

Arsenal can strike £67m in double deal

Arteta

Sheffield United manager Slavisa Jokanovic has expressed fears that he could lose Aaron Ramsdale and Sander Berge amid interest from Premier League giants Arsenal.

Arsenal are reportedly stepping up their pursuit of England goalkeeper Ramsdale after having two bids rejected. They are now preparing to submit a third bid close to the £32 million demand by Sheffield United as MIkel Arteta is keen to land a competition and alternative for Bernd Leno.

Powerhouse midfielder Berge has also been linked with Arsenal, as well as Liverpool, West Ham and Aston Villa.

When faced with the question of the future of the duo, the former Fulham boss Jokanovic said “If you ask me if I will sell, no.

“I will be hurt if they leave. I understand this possibility exists but I hope that will not happen.

“I have used them today and tomorrow they will be with me on the training ground. They are my players and I enjoy working with them.

“Sander is a young man, he’s really clever and a happy man. I don’t have any sensation that he is unhappy where he is.

“I am not worried. I am happy with them and I trust they will stay with me and I trust they can be happy working with me and their Sheffield United teammates.”

Meanwhile, ex-footballer Darren Ambrose recently gave his opinion on Arsenal’s interest in the goalkeeper. He said “It seems all talk at the moment,” the 37-year-old stated. “I’m sure there will be some movement relatively soon.

“If you are an Arsenal supporter, then you certainly hope there is.

“They finished eighth last season and they need to improve on that.

“If you are an Arsenal supporter then you know that’s not good enough.

“Are they signing the right players?

“I think there is inflation, particularly on the two players.

“Give that they are English, and particularly with Ben White- he’s had a couple of England caps.

“So that all gets inflated because it always does when you are an English International.

“They need to start signing players and not just talk about signing players, and I think the supporters will be getting frustrated.”

Tammy Abraham ‘fits the bill’ as an Arsenal signing, says Winterburn

With Arsenal interested in the signature of Chelsea striker, Tammy Abraham, they have been told by their hero, Nigel Winterburn that the England international fits the profile of a potential signing for the club.

Tammy Abraham looks set to leave Chelsea this summer as the Blues continue their pursuit of Erling Haaland. He is also out of favour at the club with lack of playing time. He earned 22 Premier League appearances last term, scoring six goals which is not enough for him.

Reacting to the news, Winterburn said (via Goal): “He certainly would fit the bill of recent Arsenal signings, young with a point to prove.

“People will question his consistency but what you want is for these young players to get a run in the team.

“Is he going to get a run in a team if Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is playing well? Probably not unless Aubameyang can be switched to the left-hand side – although you then need to leave out either Nicolas Pepe or Bukayo Saka.

“With Abraham, there’s potential there and development for a young, young player. So, I think it’s an option [for] Arsenal, although with Alexandre Lacazette being linked with a move away, it could be just a name that has been thrown into a hat.”

He will replace French striker, Alexandre Lacazette who is also opened to leaving the Emirates Stadium for £15 million after scoring 17 goals in all competitions last season.

When asked about Lacazette, Winterburn continued: “Arsenal shouldn’t sell Lacazette unless they’ve got an upgrade in place. I wouldn’t let him go until we have secured another striker. I’ve said that all along.

“Lacazette is a different striker to anything Arsenal have at the club. When he’s in top form, he holds the ball up well, his link-up play is good.

“I suppose his strike rate is not the very, very best of what you want, but then we are not at the very, very top of the league either at the moment as well.

“So personally, at the moment, I don’t want to see him go, unless we’ve got someone coming in that’s going to excite me.

“I wouldn’t let him go and then we haven’t got anybody else to bring in. For me, that’s just way too risky.”

He’s been linked with a surprise move across London. Reports have suggested Arsenal are monitoring his situation and could make an offer if Chelsea decide to leave him leave.
