Kalvin Phillips has already made his choice between joining United or Liverpool

Published

on

Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips is subject to interest from Man United and Liverpool but reports claim he has already made his choice.

It is understood that he would prefer to join Liverpool ahead of Manchester United.

The report also claims that Phillips’ preference would be to join Liverpool as he is ‘concerned’ about the negative impact he and his family could endure if he moved to Old Trafford due to the bitter rivalry between Leeds and Manchester United.

Analysis have proved that Phillips would fit into Man United if he is to join.

Speaking earlier this month, former Leeds defender Danny Mills believes Phillips would have no issue with getting in United’s team.

‘Alan Smith went and I think the fans understood it but didn’t particularly like it and some will never forgive him for that,’ Mills told Football Insider.

‘I understand that because there will always be a bitter rivalry between the two.

‘Would he fit in Manchester United’s team? Would he play? Without a shadow of a doubt, yes. Would he improve them? Yes.

‘Whether you like it or not as a Leeds fan, Manchester United are a global entity, you can’t argue with that.’

Howbeit, the attention for Man United at the moment is getting back to winning ways and not signing up new players.

Liverpool tipped to snap up top Arsenal target as Gunners delay move

Published

on

Former Arsenal and Everton striker Kevin Campbell has tipped Liverpool to make a move for top Arsenal target Youri Tielemans this summer transfer window.

He noted that Youri Tielemans would be interested if Liverpool decided to make an offer as he is keen on exiting Leicester City.

Arsenal have made their interest known but have delayed making a move for the midfielder as time continues to tick

Meanwhile, Liverpool are in dire need of midfielders. Thiago Alcantara’s recent injury against Fulham adds him to the list of injured midfielders along with Curtis Jones and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

Also the Merseyside club are yet to replace Georginio Wijnaldum since his move to Paris Saint-Germain in the summer of 2021.

No doubt, a player like Youri Tielemans, who is almost injury-free all the time and with consistent performances to boot would be welcomed at Anfield.

The 25 year old Belgian is into the last year of his contract at Leicester City. He has been linked to the Reds in the past as well.

“When you look at Thiago, his game and what he brings to Liverpool, Tielemans could go someway to replacing that. Thiago brings craft to that Liverpool midfield. Tielemans brings that as well”

The deserving way Arsenal will keep Bukayo Saka away from Liverpool, Man City, suggested

Published

on

Alan Hutton has suggested to Arsenal and Mikel Arteta that they should keep Bukayo Saka away from the likes of Liverpool and Man City by offering him a new deal that will make him one of the top paid players at the Emirates Stadium.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Tottenham and Aston Villa suggested Saka will be a “main player” for the Gunners this season and deserves a huge compensation.

The England international, who currently earns £70,000 per-week, is understood to be on the verge of signing a new and improved deal as Man City and Liverpool are monitoring his situation at the club.

When asked if he thought the 20-year-old deserved to be one of the club’s top earners, Hutton told Football Insider: “I think he should be.

“You look at what he’s done since he broke into that team. When Arsenal were really struggling he was the go-to guy.

“At such a young age, he’s broken into the England team, he’s an England international, that’s no easy feat. And he’s still the go-to guy at this moment in time for Arsenal.

“He’s come through the club, he knows what it’s all about to play. It can be difficult sometimes at Arsenal but he’s taken that on his shoulders.

“He’s been through a lot already in his career and I think he deserves to be rewarded for that. I think he’s a main player definitely this season for Arteta and Arsenal. You want to keep your star players and he’s definitely one of them.“

Arteta tipped to follow Jurgen Klopp’s style with this transfer style

Published

on

Former Arsenal striker Kevin Campbell has tipped his manager Mikel Arteta to copy the transfer style of Liverpool’s Jurgen Klopp by signing a versatile forward before the transfer window slams shut.

This style was employed by Klopp when he brought in Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah.

Mikel Arteta has signed five players this summer, splashing in excess of £110million on Gabriel Jesus, Oleksandr Zinchenko, Matt Turner, Marquinhos and Fabio Vieira but he is urged to do more.

“We are still hoping to do something else if the market allows,” the Spaniard admitted when asked about signing more players this summer. “You have seen some movement in the last few days as well.

Campbell therefore said the Gunners’ need to bring in an additional forward, comparing their frontline to Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool who are stacked with quality options. “We need another forward,” he told Football Insider.

“I would sign a versatile forward who can play across the front line. This is where Liverpool and Man City have got it right in my opinion. They have interchangeable pieces up top.

“If [Mohamed] Salah, [Luis] Diaz and [Darwin] Nunez don’t play, you have [Diogo] Jota, [Roberto] Firmino and Harvey Elliott. There is interchangeable pieces. They have those options even after [Sadio] Mane has gone.”

“We want to get the perfect balance and the plan we wanted from the beginning. Whether we accomplish that or not is another story.”

Liverpool assistant manager disclosed he should have been at Arsenal, reveals talks with Arteta

Published

on

Liverpool assistant manager Pep Lijnders has disclosed that he should have been at Arsenal with Mikel Arteta as the Spanish boss wanted him to make the move to the Emirates Stadium.

Recall that Arteta succeeded Unai Emery as Arsenal boss in 2019 after leaving Manchester City’s coaching staff and duly made a play to bring the Dutchman to the Emirates Stadium with him.

Arteta had met Lijnders while on a course to earn their UEFA badges and asked the 39-year-old to join him as he began life in the Arsenal dugout.

“Mikel Arteta had asked me to be his assistant manager when he was preparing for his new step into management,” wrote Lijnders – who has brief management experience with Dutch side NEC Nijmegen – in his new book ‘Intensity’.

“We were together years earlier on the Pro Licence course, [though] his request came out of nothing. Mikel had said he felt: “There was just a difference playing Liverpool before and after you came in.

“This was the biggest compliment I ever got from somebody, I think, but I politely said no to him.”

Since picking up the job, Mikel Arteta has won the FA Cup and the Community Shield for the Gunners.

Bukayo Saka given transfer advice, told where he fits

Published

on

Former Chelsea right-back, Glen Johnson, has told Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka to leave the Emirates Stadium for Liverpool, noting that he would be a ‘perfect’ fit for Jurgen Klopp’s side.

Saka was one of Mikel Arteta’s standout performers last season, scoring 11 goals and providing seven assists in the Premier League. He has also been named Arsenal’s Player of the Season for the last two campaigns.

However, the England international made it clear, his desire to play in the Champions League,a development that have had him linked with top Premier League sides as Liverpool and Man City.

However Johnson has asked the Gunners star to make a move to Anfield because he fits the club perfectly.

“I would like to see Bukayo Saka go to Liverpool,” Johnson told The Games Cabin.

“He would suit Liverpool perfectly.

“But he’s playing well for Arsenal, and he clearly enjoys being there. He’s obviously a good lad, and you can see that from the way he interacts with other players.

“He’s still super young, so maybe a few more years at Arsenal would work too. As long as he continues to stamp his authority there, then the big teams are still going to want to sign him.”

Liverpool given reasons why they should beat Barcelona, Arsenal, Chelsea, for signature of EPL star

Published

on

Former Liverpool striker Stan Collymore has urged Reds boss Jurgen Klopp to enter the race for Brazilian winger Raphinha, who has been strongly linked with Arsenal, Chelsea and Barcelona.

Raphinha is understood to be on his way out of Leeds but has been urged in his destination as he is one of the hottest in the current transfer window.

‘My message to Liverpool is, “Go on, get in there and get him, and future proof for the prospect of Mohamed Salah leaving in a year,’ Collymore told the Daily Mirror.

‘If Jurgen Klopp can show the boy how to play with more tactical discipline, the Reds will have one hell of a potential threat down the left or right with a promise of goals if he stays high up the pitch rather than drifting.

‘I look at Chelsea and think they are all right for that kind of player, they have good players left and right.

‘People will say that if you can hone his talent and skills, he can give you the same ‘Wow!’ factor , or at least a similar one, to Eden Hazard, even though they’re different players. But I just don’t see him as an automatic pick there.

‘With Arsenal, he would go there and carry on in the same vein as he plays at Leeds, where I don’t think he is as tactically aware as I’d like him to be, a lot of what he does is off the cuff.

‘But if you’re looking at Klopp and what he has done with Salah and Sadio Mane then he could do the same with Raphinha.

‘If Liverpool, on the back of good business with Darwin Nunez and Fabio Carvalho, were to get Raphinha and tell him to watch Salah for the next year, not only will he learn but it would also put Mo under a nice bit of pressure to make him think, ‘Am I going to stay or am I going to go?’

‘Nobody is comparing Raphinha to Salah because you can’t compare anyone to Salah. But he has rapid pace, amazing skills and ability, and he can be polished to score more goals and get more assists.

‘If Klopp can do that then, all of a sudden, by this time next year, Liverpool could have an all-new front three and it will be as if people have blinked and not even noticed, which would be amazing.’

Pundit hints Liverpool will help United with this big deal, gives hos reasons

Published

Football pundit Noel Whelan has hinted that Liverpool will help Man United to land the signature of former Arsenal player Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain this summer transfer window.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is on the wish list of the Red Devils for a deal this summer and the pundit says Jurgen Klopp will want to do “whatever he can” to help the England international find a move this summer, an act that will favour United.

The former Leeds striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, suggested the 28-year-old’s “good relationship” with the German will see player and club split amicably in the transfer market.

It is understood that the midfielder will cost around half of the £22million asking price clubs were quoted last year to make a deal possible.

Whelan claimed Klopp will be “fair” when negotiating a potential exit this summer.

“He’s had his injury problems during his time at Liverpool,” he told Football Insider‘s Russell Edge.

“You’re going to get fairness out of Jurgen Klopp. They’ve got a really good relationship.

“I think he’ll want the player to have the best possible end to his career at a club he thinks Oxlade-Chamberlain can thrive at.

“Klopp will want to do whatever he can to make him happy if he’s not going to stay at Liverpool.

“That will show just what a good manager he is and what a good relationship they have.”

United to lose big target to Liverpool as Pundit makes big claim

Man United could lose out on Christian Eriksen after former Liverpool defender Jose Enrique urged the Reds to move ahead and seal his signature.

Eriksen, who has revived his career has been linked with a move to rivals Manchester United.

However, Enrique believes that United’s fierce rivals Liverpool should throw their hat into the ring as well.

‘Another interesting player that could be our solution to our midfield and spending nothing because he [Eriksen] is a free agent,’ the Spaniard said on his Instagram story.

‘He is a short-term solution but then we can wait for [Jude] Bellingham next season. He will play if he deserves to play like everyone else.

‘Eriksen is a top player and I believe he can compete for a starting spot in our XI. The season is very long.

‘He is that kind of player, like Thiago, but maybe a little bit more offensive. But Thiago is our magician.’

Meanwhile, Eriksen has said that he is happy to take his time deciding his next club, saying: ‘I have different offers and options, which we are considering, and then we make a decision.

‘I’ll have my cell phone turned on. I know my agent well enough that he will call me if anything interesting comes along, and if not, he won’t call me.’
