How Chelsea star ‘reduced’ Frank Lampard with Thomas Tuchel claim

Published

on

Spanish defender Marcos Alosno unwittingly reduced Frank Lampard by claiming that Chelsea took a step forward by appointing Thomas Tuchel as a replacement after the Blues legend was sacked.

According to him, Tuchel picked up the pieces and guided them to European glory, saying in an interview with Spanish outlet AS: ‘We were a very balanced team. In these close qualifiers, the little details make the difference.

‘We were a team in every way. We defended very well, we were an uncomfortable team to play with, we defended all eleven and the small details made the difference.

‘At this point in the Champions League everything is very even and it depends on very small details.’

Reports, meanwhile, suggested Lampard was furious Alonso for leaving the Hawthorns after he was dragged off at the break with his side trailing 3-0.

But Alonso said earlier this year: ‘I was not happy, of course, with how the game went and everything, but it was not any intention to do that (storm out).

‘I spoke to my team-mates straight afterwards, if someone felt offended or something. But everyone was OK.

‘The manager didn’t take it well but I explained everything that happened. He thought I left before the end of the game but I told him no.’

Liverpool given reasons why they should beat Barcelona, Arsenal, Chelsea, for signature of EPL star

Published

Former Liverpool striker Stan Collymore has urged Reds boss Jurgen Klopp to enter the race for Brazilian winger Raphinha, who has been strongly linked with Arsenal, Chelsea and Barcelona.

Raphinha is understood to be on his way out of Leeds but has been urged in his destination as he is one of the hottest in the current transfer window.

‘My message to Liverpool is, “Go on, get in there and get him, and future proof for the prospect of Mohamed Salah leaving in a year,’ Collymore told the Daily Mirror.

‘If Jurgen Klopp can show the boy how to play with more tactical discipline, the Reds will have one hell of a potential threat down the left or right with a promise of goals if he stays high up the pitch rather than drifting.

‘I look at Chelsea and think they are all right for that kind of player, they have good players left and right.

‘People will say that if you can hone his talent and skills, he can give you the same ‘Wow!’ factor , or at least a similar one, to Eden Hazard, even though they’re different players. But I just don’t see him as an automatic pick there.

‘With Arsenal, he would go there and carry on in the same vein as he plays at Leeds, where I don’t think he is as tactically aware as I’d like him to be, a lot of what he does is off the cuff.

‘But if you’re looking at Klopp and what he has done with Salah and Sadio Mane then he could do the same with Raphinha.

‘If Liverpool, on the back of good business with Darwin Nunez and Fabio Carvalho, were to get Raphinha and tell him to watch Salah for the next year, not only will he learn but it would also put Mo under a nice bit of pressure to make him think, ‘Am I going to stay or am I going to go?’

‘Nobody is comparing Raphinha to Salah because you can’t compare anyone to Salah. But he has rapid pace, amazing skills and ability, and he can be polished to score more goals and get more assists.

‘If Klopp can do that then, all of a sudden, by this time next year, Liverpool could have an all-new front three and it will be as if people have blinked and not even noticed, which would be amazing.’

Darren Bent reveals his would-be mood if this Chelsea star joins Arsenal

Published

on

Former attacker, Darren Bent has told TalkSPORT that he would be “over the moon” if Romelu Lukaku moved to Arsenal ahead of this summer transfer window.

It is no longer news that Arsenal want a striker and have given preference to Man City’s Gabriel Jesus but Bent said prefers the Chelsea striker to the Brazilian.

Lukaku struggled at the Stamford Bridge as he managed just eight goals in 26 Premier League appearances during 2021-22.

The Belgium international is now linked with a return to Inter Milan where he scored 64 goals in 95 games.

Asked if he would have had Lukaku at Arsenal, Bent said he would be over the moon to sign him – and would even prefer him to Brazil international Jesus.

“I’d take Lukaku at Arsenal 100%. I’d be over the moon if we got Lukaku. I look at Lukaku and I think he wants to go somewhere where he feels most loved. He scored a lot of goals at Inter [in 20-21] and felt real passion from the fans.

“The fact he is taking a pay cut, it feels like he cannot wait to get out of this country quick enough.” Asked who he would rather – Lukaku or Jesus, Bent said: “I’d rather Lukaku. I’ve seen him score goals. He’s in the 100 club.”

Jack Wilshere tells Arsenal why they must sign EPL star ahead of Chelsea, Tottenham

Published

Former Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere has urged Mikel Arteta to sign Leeds United star Raphinha this summer ahead of rivals Chelsea and Tottenham.

The Gunners have shown interest in signing the Brazilian winger as Mikel Arteta looks to strengthen his attacking options ahead of next season.

Arsenal wants to add Raphinha to their books alongside his national teammate Gabriel Jesus this summer after already confirming the arrival of 19-year-old talent Marquinhos from Sao Paulo.

While Wilshere thinks that Raphinha would need little time to settle in at the Emirates Stadium, he should be signed ahead of Chelsea and Tottenham.

Speaking on talkSPORT, Wilshere said: “For someone who’s only been in England for two years, he’s got a lot of experience.

“He came to England and just clicked straight away. He was in a relegation battle last year so he knows he’s up for a fight. I think he’d be a good one for Arsenal. He’ll be expensive, of course he will.”

Meanwhile Raphinha is valued by the CIES Football Observatory at around £34million, but Leeds are expected to hold out for a high fee for one of their key players.

The Gunners have hit the ground running with the summer transfer window as they are set to unveil Fabio Vieira from Porto.

Why I snubbed Man United, Chelsea, new Real Madrid signing reveals

Published

on

Real Madrid’s new signing Aurelien Tchouameni has explained why he snubbed the lines of Man United and Chelsea for the La Liga giants.

Tchouameni disclosed that he once considered one of his suitors but immediately Real came calling, he had no interest in moving anywhere else.

‘I’m really happy to be here, to start a new chapter with the best club in the world,’ the player said.

‘I had the chance to choose other clubs, yes – but as soon as I knew Real Madrid wanted me, I never doubted. I spoke to my agent, my family and the club [Monaco] to try to get the best deal for everyone.

‘Kylian [Mbappé] stayed at Paris Saint-Germain; he knew that I was going to go from Monaco at the end of the season and he wanted to see if maybe I would go to PSG. But my first decision was always Real Madrid, and he respects that.’

Tchouameni appears to be joining Los Blancos at the best possible time, with Carlo Ancelotti’s side winning La Liga and the Champions League in some style last season.

‘I want to leave my mark on football history, and I think Madrid is the best place to do that: the biggest club in the world, with incredible players and the best club for me,’ Tchouameni added.

‘I can now say that I’m a Real Madrid player and that’s a marvellous feeling. I really am accomplishing a dream.

‘I have to show my quality in training and I’m really looking forward to doing so. I try to deliver my best out on the pitch. It’s a challenge, but I can’t just focus on the World Cup in November, but on the daily training sessions and matches with Real Madrid.’

Former player tells Chelsea they will be sensible to beat Arsenal for another PL star aside Gabriel Jesus

Published

Glen Johnson has told Chelsea that Everton forward Richarlison would be a ‘sensible’ signing for the Blues if they are able to beat Arsenal and Tottenham for his signature.

The Gunners have been linked with the signature of the Brazilian alongside Tottenham as the forward is keen to leave Everton.

However, Glen Johnson said his former club should not be paying over the odds for Richarlison.

Asked if Chelsea should launch a move for Richarlison, former Blues defender Johnson told BettingOdds. ‘I certainly believe he would suit the way Chelsea play more than Romelu Lukaku.

‘Whether he’s good enough to be their main man and get 20 goals a season, then I’m not so sure.

‘I do like him though and I think he’s a good player and it could be a sensible move if the fee is reasonable.’

Meanwhile, Richarlison was asked about his future at Everton earlier this month and said: ‘I’ve already made it clear to the board.

‘I’ve already talked to (Frank) Lampard too, with my agents and they know what I want. Let’s wait for June.

‘Now I can’t talk, because when we talk about leaving a club I’m kind of like this, because of the history I have at Everton, the affection that the fans have for me. When we talk about leaving I’m a little speechless.’

Former PL player gives valid reasons why he is worried about Gabriel Jesus’ potential move to Arsenal

Published

on

Stan Collymore has made it clear that he is worried about the potential move by Gabriel Jesus to

He therefore said the player should join Chelsea if he must leave Man City.

The Gunners are hoping to seal the deal after agreeing personal terms with the forward to replace Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette.

The former Liverpool star told the Mirror: “I don’t think anyone can say Jesus has filled the boots of Sergio Aguero but his goals-to-games ratio has been very good and, when he has been asked to step up, he has done. There are rumours of Chelsea sniffing around as well and I don’t think Arsenal will be the only club in the race for him this summer.

“But let’s say Arsenal get him, my general worry and concern about Arsenal, as ever, is could we trust Mikel Arteta to get the best out of Jesus, could he be the manager who makes him fulfil his potential, if Pep Guardiola couldn’t? I don’t think so.

“But if he goes to Chelsea he could be the player Romelu Lukaku was promised to be but wasn’t. At Chelsea, they create loads of chances, they will stick the ball in the box and Jesus can be the fox in the box I’ve so often said they need. If Jesus just concentrated on doing some really good work in the box, he could be that man.

“At Arsenal, with the support cast they have, which is still two rookies in Emile Smith Rowe and Bukayo Saka — and we don’t know for sure that they will still be wearing Gunners shirts in two years’ time, with Saka being linked with Liverpool and City — if I was Jesus I would be thinking of myself in the blue shirt at Stamford Bridge.

“I’d be thinking that Mason Mount, Kai Havertz and, if he stays, Timo Werner would be putting it on a plate for me and I’d be getting my 25 goals as a regular starter next season. What he’s not going to do is fire Arsenal into the Champions League next season because it’s not just a case of them needing a finisher.

“They need to buy in players who have belief in the project and yet I don’t even see any of their big-name rookies putting out any signs that they have a massive belief Arsenal are going to get to the Champions League this time next year.

“So if you’re Jesus, signed as The Man , which puts a lot of additional pressure on you as well, then why go there when you could go to the Emirates when you could go to Stamford Bridge and be at a place where you’re much more of a natural fit. With that in mind, my advice is, ‘Go to London, Gabriel, but go to the blue side, not the red.”

Thierry Henry gives reasons why he wants Gabriel Jesus at Arsenal or Chelsea

Published

on

Arsenal legend Thierry Henry has backed Gabriel Jesus to move away from Man City and he thinks a move to either Arsenal or Chelsea will he a good one for him.

Tottenham are also in the race but the French legend insists on Arsenal or Chelsea.

Gabriel Jesus is expected to leave City after the signature of Erling Haaland was made public as he will not be favoured with playing time.

The former Arsenal striker outlined what he liked about Jesus after his best performance of the season.

“What he can give offensively to the team. We saw that he scored four goals at the weekend [vs Watford],” Henry told CBS Sport. “When he is in the box, he’s one of the three that is playing, or since [Sergio] Aguero left, he has that [number] nine instinct. He has what the number nine would smell.

“What I like with him is that he puts pressure, whether it’s on the left, on the right or in the middle. He doesn’t have a problem to defend in those situations by coming back and helping his team.”

A striker remains the priority for manager Mikel Arteta as he is now without Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette ahead of next season.

The first transfer advice given by Arsenal legend that Arteta might ignore

Published

on

Arsenal legend Paul Merson has advised Mikel Arteta to make a move and sign Chelsea star Romelu Lukaku as the Gunners seek for a new striker in the summer.

Lukaku is keen to leave Chelsea for a return to Italy the Merson saying Arsenal should take advantage of the development and sign him.

Writing in his Daily Star column, he said: ‘Arsenal should make a cheeky £60m bid for Romelu Lukaku this summer.

‘Because if Chelsea are so desperate to let him go that they’re talking about loaning him to Inter Milan, surely they would take the money! Arsenal haven’t had someone who is big and strong and dynamic like that since Kevin Campbell.

‘I know he hasn’t scored a lot of goals this season but Lukaku is an elite goalscorer. Arsenal play great football up to the edge of the box but then it often fizzles out. Arsenal go through the lines. They want their striker on the edge of the box. It would suit him.’

Lukaku struggled last season with only eight league goals and lost his starting place to Kai Havertz after falling out-of-favour with Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel.

There is no doubt that he doesn’t fit into Mikel Arteta’s plan because of his style and age and the Spanish manager is expected to ignore the deal.

Speaking earlier this year, Arteta revealed the qualities he is looking for in Arsenal’s new centre-forward.

He said: ‘He puts the ball in the net, that’s priority number one. Goal threat. Any successful team needs enough goal threat in the squad. Without it, you have nothing. You can play good football but you need enough goal threat in the team.’
