Experienced EPL boss tipped to replace Lampard

Frank Leboeuf has named Brendan Rodgers as an ideal Frank Lampard replacement as there are speculations that the English legend could be sacked.

Under Frank Lampard’s watch, the West London outfit recorded another 2-0 defeat to Leicester City on Tuesday night. They are now in eighth place on the table after 19 games after losing five of their last eight league matches.

While there are talks of a sack, the likes of Paris Saint-Germain and Borussia Dortmund boss Thomas Tuchel, ex-Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri and Leicester’s Rodgers have been mentioned as replacement for Frank Lampard.

Leboeuf feels Rodgers is the ideal replacement for Lampard should he be relieved of his duties because of his experience in the Premier League

“Brendan Rodgers knows English football very well so I think he will be the perfect guy,’ the former Blues defender told ESPN FC.

“Allegri knows Italian football, Tuchel knows German football and French football but they’re new in English football. There is a very specific philosophy and mentality that you have to have to coach a team in England.

“We can see talent is not enough, you need something special you need a team, you need the stamina to keep on fighting every game. You need a character which is missing around Chelsea players right now. Brendan Rodgers is fantastic and I would love to see him.”

However, the French World Cup winner confessed that it might be too early to properly assess Lampard’s potential successor, and doesn’t see Rodgers leaving the Midlands club anytime soon.

“But it is premature, there is somebody that you have to respect, Frank Lampard is still in charge,’ he added.

“I think Rodgers won’t come to Chelsea, I think it would be a complete betrayal towards the club and the fans because he just signed a long contract. I think he wants to achieve something, they are building something special, top of the league, what is the point to go to Chelsea?”

However, Frank Lampard has admitted he is under pressure but cannot decide his future himself. “(My future) is not my decision, that’s something that will always be there. You always understand some things are beyond your control.” He stated

Chelsea player that is “a killer” revealed

Romelu Lukaku

Former prolific midfielder, Joe Cole, has revealed that in Romelu Lukaku, The blues now have a “killer” in their squad who will score more goal.

Romelu Lukaku scored the only goal as Chelsea began their Champions League campaign with a slim 1-0 victory over Zenit St Petersburg on Tuesday.

That was Romelu Lukaku fourth goal in four matches since returning to Stamford Bridge in a £98million deal from Inter Milan this summer.

Joe Cole has accepted the fact that Romelu Lukaku was not at his best against Zenit, but said his powerful nature makes him the perfect man to lead the team under Thomas Tuchel.

“I’m going to throw this out there, I think he’ll be top scorer in the Champions League this season.

“Lukaku didn’t even have one of his better games, he was a little bit scruffy but he’s a finisher now, a killer. Once that ball was delivered there was only going to be one winner, he’s a great finisher,” Cole said on BT Sport.

Legend ignores Man Utd, names six teams that can win champions league

Danny Murphy

Experienced legend, Danny Murphy has listed the six clubs he thinks can win the Champions League this season.

His list include title holders Chelsea, Manchester City and Liverpool. However, Manchester United was not mentioned.

Danny Murphy predicts English clubs could be a dominant force in Europe this campaign, with Chelsea hoping to defend the title they won after beating Manchester City in last season’s champions league final.

For Liverpool, they reached successive Champions League finals in 2018 and 2019 and would be eager to challenge for another this seasonn.

Danny Murphy insists Manchester City are one of the favorites as with Chelsea, Liverpool, Bayern Munich, PSG and Atletico Madrid.

Asked which teams he expects to challenge for the Champions League title, Murphy told MailSport:

“I personally think the winners will come from one of six – Manchester City, Liverpool, Chelsea, Bayern Munich and PSG.

“Atletico are an outsider because Diego Simeone has matchwinners in Luis Suarez and Griezmann in addition to the remarkable team spirit he’s fostered.”

Tammy Abraham ‘fits the bill’ as an Arsenal signing, says Winterburn

With Arsenal interested in the signature of Chelsea striker, Tammy Abraham, they have been told by their hero, Nigel Winterburn that the England international fits the profile of a potential signing for the club.

Tammy Abraham looks set to leave Chelsea this summer as the Blues continue their pursuit of Erling Haaland. He is also out of favour at the club with lack of playing time. He earned 22 Premier League appearances last term, scoring six goals which is not enough for him.

Reacting to the news, Winterburn said (via Goal): “He certainly would fit the bill of recent Arsenal signings, young with a point to prove.

“People will question his consistency but what you want is for these young players to get a run in the team.

“Is he going to get a run in a team if Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is playing well? Probably not unless Aubameyang can be switched to the left-hand side – although you then need to leave out either Nicolas Pepe or Bukayo Saka.

“With Abraham, there’s potential there and development for a young, young player. So, I think it’s an option [for] Arsenal, although with Alexandre Lacazette being linked with a move away, it could be just a name that has been thrown into a hat.”

He will replace French striker, Alexandre Lacazette who is also opened to leaving the Emirates Stadium for £15 million after scoring 17 goals in all competitions last season.

When asked about Lacazette, Winterburn continued: “Arsenal shouldn’t sell Lacazette unless they’ve got an upgrade in place. I wouldn’t let him go until we have secured another striker. I’ve said that all along.

“Lacazette is a different striker to anything Arsenal have at the club. When he’s in top form, he holds the ball up well, his link-up play is good.

“I suppose his strike rate is not the very, very best of what you want, but then we are not at the very, very top of the league either at the moment as well.

“So personally, at the moment, I don’t want to see him go, unless we’ve got someone coming in that’s going to excite me.

“I wouldn’t let him go and then we haven’t got anybody else to bring in. For me, that’s just way too risky.”

He’s been linked with a surprise move across London. Reports have suggested Arsenal are monitoring his situation and could make an offer if Chelsea decide to leave him leave.
