Chelsea given serious Erling Braut Haaland transfer advice

Published

on

Former Chelsea midfielder Emmanuel Petit has called the West London outfit to sign Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Braut Haaland.

The Norwegian goal scorer has been on the radar of many top European clubs as they are all lined up for his signature.

This is after he scored 41 goals in 41 appearances for the German giants last season.

Knowing his value, the Bundesliga outfit will not let him leave for a cheap fee because he remains their prized asset with the expected exit of England international Jadon Sancho to Man United.

Having spent over £200m on transfers last summer after a two-window embargo, the Blues team may have to invest of £120m in the star player to be able to land him

However, Petit is keen for Thomas Tuchel to find an outright goalscorer and told Paddy Power: “I’ll make it simple. Olivier Giroud is on his way out of Chelsea, Tammy Abraham is probably leaving on loan, and Timo Werner is still struggling to score goals consistently and Kai Havertz is not a striker.

“Chelsea need a new striker and someone who scores lots of goals. Erling Haaland is the answer. He’s strong, powerful and young with a bright future in front of him. Haaland’s value is already very high, and connections with Tuchel increase his chance of joining Chelsea.

“Offensively, he could become the finisher that Chelsea really need. I can imagine his relationship with Mason Mount, Havertz, Christian Pulisic and Hakim Ziyech making him score lots of goals at Stamford Bridge. Chelsea need a top striker, it’s as simple as that.”

Haaland joined BVB in January 2020 and has gone on to score an impressive 57 goals in 59 appearances for the club.

The Blues will have to battle the likes of Spanish La Liga outfits Barcelona and Rea, Marid as they are also keen on his service.

It is understood that the English Premier League side have already opened talks with Borussia Dortmund for the player with the outcome expected to be known coming days.

He is top on the list for Thomas Tuchel as the manager is ensuring that he gets his players ready in good time to improve his team.

Romelu Lukaku

Former prolific midfielder, Joe Cole, has revealed that in Romelu Lukaku, The blues now have a “killer” in their squad who will score more goal.

Romelu Lukaku scored the only goal as Chelsea began their Champions League campaign with a slim 1-0 victory over Zenit St Petersburg on Tuesday.

That was Romelu Lukaku fourth goal in four matches since returning to Stamford Bridge in a £98million deal from Inter Milan this summer.

Joe Cole has accepted the fact that Romelu Lukaku was not at his best against Zenit, but said his powerful nature makes him the perfect man to lead the team under Thomas Tuchel.

“I’m going to throw this out there, I think he’ll be top scorer in the Champions League this season.

“Lukaku didn’t even have one of his better games, he was a little bit scruffy but he’s a finisher now, a killer. Once that ball was delivered there was only going to be one winner, he’s a great finisher,” Cole said on BT Sport.

Tammy Abraham ‘fits the bill’ as an Arsenal signing, says Winterburn

tammy

With Arsenal interested in the signature of Chelsea striker, Tammy Abraham, they have been told by their hero, Nigel Winterburn that the England international fits the profile of a potential signing for the club.

Tammy Abraham looks set to leave Chelsea this summer as the Blues continue their pursuit of Erling Haaland. He is also out of favour at the club with lack of playing time. He earned 22 Premier League appearances last term, scoring six goals which is not enough for him.

Reacting to the news, Winterburn said (via Goal): “He certainly would fit the bill of recent Arsenal signings, young with a point to prove.

“People will question his consistency but what you want is for these young players to get a run in the team.

“Is he going to get a run in a team if Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is playing well? Probably not unless Aubameyang can be switched to the left-hand side – although you then need to leave out either Nicolas Pepe or Bukayo Saka.

“With Abraham, there’s potential there and development for a young, young player. So, I think it’s an option [for] Arsenal, although with Alexandre Lacazette being linked with a move away, it could be just a name that has been thrown into a hat.”

He will replace French striker, Alexandre Lacazette who is also opened to leaving the Emirates Stadium for £15 million after scoring 17 goals in all competitions last season.

When asked about Lacazette, Winterburn continued: “Arsenal shouldn’t sell Lacazette unless they’ve got an upgrade in place. I wouldn’t let him go until we have secured another striker. I’ve said that all along.

“Lacazette is a different striker to anything Arsenal have at the club. When he’s in top form, he holds the ball up well, his link-up play is good.

“I suppose his strike rate is not the very, very best of what you want, but then we are not at the very, very top of the league either at the moment as well.

“So personally, at the moment, I don’t want to see him go, unless we’ve got someone coming in that’s going to excite me.

“I wouldn’t let him go and then we haven’t got anybody else to bring in. For me, that’s just way too risky.”

He’s been linked with a surprise move across London. Reports have suggested Arsenal are monitoring his situation and could make an offer if Chelsea decide to leave him leave.
