Chelsea finally join the race for this prolific player

Published

on

West London outfit Chelsea have joined the race for France centre-back Dayot Upamecano ahead of the coming summer transfer window.

The 22-year-old recently signed a new deal with RB Leipzig which contains a release clause of around £40 million as he is attracting several clubs, inc;luding Man United and Liverpool.

The West London outfit are now the latest to make a move for the star player and are willing to activate his release clause as long as other suitors do not come first.

RB Leipzig were determined to hold onto Dayot Upamecano before now but that seems to have changed as RB Leipzig CEO Oliver Mintzlaff confirmed that they will now accept the right offers for the defender and the club captain, Marcel Sabitzer.

“We have a squad that is also very broad in terms of quality. So we will also sell top performers again if it makes financial sense and we can absorb it from a sporting point of view.

“When I think of Werner, Cunha, Keïta or Demme, we’ve already made a lot of money and still made progress in terms of sport. Overall, we have invested a lot in our team, no question about that. But look: the current squad had a market value of less than 250 million when the individual players made their debut.” Mintzlaff said

However, Chelsea will take advantage of the latest development to move before Man United and Liverpool in order to make more options for Thiago Silva and Kurt Zouma, knowing that the Brazilian will not be at the club for a longer period. He is now 36.

Howbeit, the Blues also have other big suitors, including Spain’s Real Madrid and Barcelona and RB Leipzig’s Bundesliga rivals Bayern Munich.

However, in one of the interviews, Dayot Upamecano stated that “For the moment I am with Leipzig but it is true that I was able to discuss with certain clubs. As I said, for now I am focused on Leipzig and I will continue to play for Leipzig. And then we’ll see. ‘You never know what can happen in a football season.”

Darren Bent discloses what would happen with Michy Batshuayi’s future at Chelsea

Published

on

Darren Bent might have passed a judgment on Michy Batshuayi already by claiming that there are possibilities that the player has already played his last ever game for Chelsea
.
This is because the Belgian international is currently on his fifth loan spell since signing for Chelsea back in 2016, this time with Besiktas, meaning he is not needed by the club again.

The fact that has only completed only two full seasons with the Blues following that £33m (BBC) move from Marseille over half a decade ago with no reports that he is impressing in his current loan spell gives a major hint according to Bent.

However, there are chances that the player will want to return to the Stamford Bridge but that will depend on what happens in coming weeks.

Speaking on talkSPORT, the former Sunderland striker suggested that Batshuayi’s career at Stamford bridge had run its course.

“It’s people like Batshuayi. For me, his time at Chelsea is over,” said Bent on the Blues’ policy regarding their loan army.

“That’s him activating his last year and I understand it.

“He’s clearly not going to get the same money anywhere else as he is at Chelsea, so he’s going to want to stay on that contract for as long as possible.”

Emmanuel Petit has told manager Thomas that AC Milan defender Theo Hernandez will be a perfect buy for the club.

The Blues have been linked with the defender as they are keen to recruit in that department.

Two pundits finally agree, tell Tuchel what should happen about Chelsea star’s future

Published

on

Two football legends and pundits, Joe Cole and Jamie Carragher have both agreed that Antonio Rudiger is an improtant part of the Chelsea team, urging manager Thomas Tuchel to keep him.

Although, Thomas Tuchel has always hoped that Rudiger will commit his long-term future to Chelsea, despite Europe’s elite circling.

Cole believes keeping such players on board will be key if the club are to build on their success.

‘I played with him at Roma. Great personality, great attitude in training, always pushing to want to be the best,’ the ex-England left-back told Sky Sports before Rudiger’s early goal against Spurs helped Chelsea into the Carabao Cup final.

‘He’s been integral in this Chelsea team in the way they play. He’s aggressive, not letting players come off him and go into little pockets that normally centre-backs don’t like to go in.

‘He’s aggressive, he keeps Chelsea on front foot.

‘I hope he stays because I think he’s been brilliant, especially for the younger players. The younger players always come back to us and always mention how good he is with the.

‘You need to keep players like him in and around the dressing room.’

In his reaction, Jamie Redknapp agreed that Rudiger had been at the heart of Chelsea’s recent success and believes the German finds himself in a ‘brilliant position’, with clubs queuing up for his signature.

‘I’m sure they are [doing everything to keep him],’ the former Liverpool, Spurs and England midfielder said.

‘There are not many like him in world football. A lot of centre-backs now, they’re nice. Not many of them are going to be aggressive or kick you, be in for a fight every time you play against them.

‘When I look at Rudiger that’s what he brings, he’s a one-off to that extent. If you’re Chelsea you are doing everything. But from Rudiger’s point of view, he’s in a brilliant position because everyone would want him.

‘If it’s my team, Liverpool, you can imagine him playing alongside Virgil van Dijk, it’s a free transfer in the summer, just obviously a massive wage is what he will want.

‘But he has been a revelation since Thomas Tuchel came. He’s been fantastic.’

Thomas Tuchel makes new transfer request as Lucas Digne deal now unlikely

Published

on

From all indications, Chelsea are set to lose out on the signature of Everton star Lucas Digne, forcing manager Thomas Tuchel to make a new transfer request to the club.

Thomas Tuchel now wants to recall Emerson Palmieri with a deal for Everton’s Lucas Digne now looking unlikely.

This has been disclosed by transfer guru Fabrizio Romano who said Palmieri might return as Tuchel has requested the club to do so after losing Ben Chilwell for the rest of the season.

‘Chelsea are still trying to recall Emerson Palmieri as left back, Tuchel wants him,’ he tweeted.

‘OL turned down first approach but Chelsea are pushing again – prepared to offer compensation.

‘Lucas Digne deal now looking very unlikely. Nothing advanced. Everton ask for permanent move.’

Meanwhile Rafa Benitez confirmed on Friday that Digne’s unavailability is not for transfer reasons.

Chelsea would save themselves some cash if they can persuade Everton into a loan deal until the summer or recall Emerson from Lyon.

‘I don’t want to lie,’ said Tuchel last week when discussing his transfer plans.

‘We are looking into the situation because we have now a new situation with Ben Chilwell.

‘One of the possibilities is a player we know and we love as a person, Emerson. But we need to check the details.

‘We are discussing and reflecting and this will go on for the next days, maybe weeks.

Tuchel might have been forced, makes January transfer u-turn claim

Published

on

Chelsea boss, Thomas Tuchel, has made a transfer u-turn, hinting that he may look to bring in some reinforcements this month as cover.

This is followed by the sideline of left-back Ben Chilwell for the rest of the season due to a serious knee injury and Reece James, currently on the sidelines with a hamstring problem.

Speaking at a news conference before the 5-1 FA Cup win over Chesterfield, Tuchel said: “We are in talks with the staff and the board and the scouting, checking possibilities which we would always do. Given the fact we have some long-term injuries, we are looking into the market, but not under the very highest pressure.

“Things have to make sense for us personality wise and position wise, and also quality wise. We have options and we will check them.

He continued: “If we play in the back-five, it’s [Cesar Azpilicueta], if we play a back-four and the need is maybe a bit more defensive full-back with different characteristics to protect the offensive players, it is also Azpi. Maybe it could be Trevoh Chalobah but he is out with injury.

“So you lose options not only personnel-wise but also in tactics and formation. That’s why we look into the market and we check our options but in the end it needs to make sense, it’s not only pure numbers. It’s needs to be a good mix of high quality, high-level attitude and character.

“If we had a full squad I would love to say we do nothing [in the transfer market] because we’re only happy, but we have this issue and that’s why we look into what’s possible.”

Carragher tells Liverpool how to deliver transfer blow to Chelsea, United by signing England youngster

Published

on

The former Reds defender Jamie Carragher has told Liverpool to go ahead of Chelsea and Man United to sign England’s Borussia Dortmund star Jude Bellingham.

Both Blues and the Red Devils are linked with the signature of the young talent and have been tipped to make a move for him as early as in this January transfer window but Carragher has asked the Reds to go ahead of them.

Bellingham has made 15 league appearances this season, scoring twice and assisting five times. He has also made six Champions League appearances to add to his top flight experience, despite his side dropping into the Europa League

The Sky Sports pundit tells Thomas Tuchel that bringing in the youngster could help him in refreshing his midfield for the future, with Jorginho and N’Golo Kante now entering their 30s.

Meanwhile, Tuchel s not keen to engage is this January transfer window and that could land a major boost to Liverpool and Man United as the frontrunners for the youngster.

The Red Devils could boast of an advantage as well, knowing that they have an existing relationship with the Bundesliga outfit, having recently secured the signature of Jadon Sancho from the club but it would be a difficult task to convince Borussia Dortmund into releasing their prized asset.
