Cedric Soares reveals what Arsenal players now know that would help return winning streak

Published

on

Fullback Cedric Soares has claimed that Arsenal players now know and feel the relationship and support of the fans as it has improved over the past 12 months.

According to him, this development has helped and would help push the team for more success.

“Arsenal has a big responsibility as a club,” he told Arsenal’s match programme. “We know we need to give the fans a much better season than we gave them last season.

“Lately in our home games I’ve really felt the stadium is completely behind us. The comeback win against Wolves in February was like that.

“We were 1-0 down but the fans understood that we were pushing, and trying, and really going for it. I heard the whole stadium behind us.

“When you are on the pitch, of course most of the time you are focused on the game. But during that game, maybe when the action stopped for a bit, I could really feel that the crowd was completely behind us. It was massive. I believed we could turn it around, and in the end we made it happen together.

“We fought so hard to win the game. We applied our principles and in the end, with a lot of emotion, we exploded with a 2-1 win. Then after that, you need to celebrate your wins – especially when they are important.”

Arsenal have been told that the agents of their target and PSV star Cody Gakpo are already working hard to secure him a deal away from his country home.

Cody Gakpo has been in the news for two reasons, firstly, his impressive performance at the ongoing World Cup and the interest in him from top European clubs, especially Arsenal and Man United.

Gakpo has played in all three of his nation’s group games, and has scored in each match, making him one of the hottest prospects at the moment.

Both Arsenal and Man United seek to reinforce their teams and the player is being monitored.

CBS Sports journalist Ben Jacobs has made it clear that Mykhaylo Mudryk is more interested in a move to Arsenal as he is impressed by Mikel Arteta’s style of play.

A number of top European clubs have identified Mykhaylo Mudryk as their targets but words from the winger, having learnt of interest from Arsenal suggests he is keen on a move to the Emirates Stadium.

Mudryk makes it to the Gunners shortlist as he is being tipped to be the best option for the club in January.

Although, the North London outfit must be willing to pay hugely for the winger as his stocks have risen.

Jacobs believes Arsenal could yet be able to bring in the youngster for a considerably lower figure of £56m – and that there certainly seems to be a willingness on the player’s side.

Jacobs told GiveMeSport: “From Mudryk’s point of view, he wants Arsenal, it’s as simple as that.

“He said that many times, including directly to me in an interview that I did about two months ago, he said he can’t say no to Arsenal.

“He’s spoken directly with Zinchenko, his countryman; he’s very impressed by Mikel Arteta and the style that the team play.”

Presented with two midfielders, Arsenal told who to pick and sign

Published

Arsenal have been handed the suggestion of either signing Jude Bellingham and Declan Rice as the club is keen on a midfielder ahead of the January transfer window.

Of lately, Jude Bellingham has been linked away from Borussia Dortmund and there are indications that he could leave in 2023 with the Gunners being linked.

However, former Gunners man Kevin Campbell said his old side should go for Rice if they have to choose between the two.

He told The Highbury Squad: “I truly believe this is the truth. If you are going to pay £100m, who would you buy? Would you buy Bellingham or would you buy Rice?

“I’d buy Rice. All day long. Bellingham is good and he is younger.

“But the game Rice has is perfect for what we have or what we are going to need. I am thinking he is a natural successor to Thomas Partey, who does things in a different way, but he can control a game himself, like Bellingham.”

Meanwhile, Man United are also keen on the signature of the Borussia Dortmund youngster as manager Erik ten Hag is also working hard to stabilize his team ahead of the second half of the season.

Charles Watts has confirmed that Arsenal will attempt bro bring in a midfielder in the January winter transfer window.

Manager Mikel Arteta has already made it clear that the club will attempt to make some signings in January so as to add depth to the squad.

“I believe Arsenal did actually make a bid for him towards the end of the summer transfer window and were told in no uncertain terms: look, it’s not happening now.

“Now, that may well change in January because Palmeiras are in a position now where they can start looking at accepting offers, potentially, and Arsenal will be doing a lot of groundwork when it comes to him.

“They’ve been talking to the club, been talking to their representatives for a long, long time. Everyone kind of knows where everyone stands in that situation, but it’s just a case [of] firming up that interest.”

Arsenal, United target told the club he should join

Published

Should Arsenal and Man United target Cody Gakpo listen to the advice of former Liverpool forward Ryan Babel, he would be heading to the Anfield to join the Reds.

This is as Babel urged the in-form forward to join Liverpool if he to make a choice.

Although, the former Liverpool star noted that Arsenal would be a perfect choice to make at the moment.

Babel believes Gakpo needs to take a range of factors into consideration when deciding his next club.

He told The Athletic: ‘You see him linked to clubs in England, such as Manchester United. Everyone has the right price so let’s see how he develops in the tournament. He has shown enough quality that he is ready for the next step, whether it’s in January or next summer.

‘As a Liverpool fan, I would tell him to go to Liverpool if they make an approach! Arsenal would also be an incredible team for him, with the current manager and the project that they’re building. He has to follow his heart.

‘When you are a young Dutch player, it is flattering to be linked to big clubs in England, but going from the Dutch league to the Premier League is a big step. Not every player is able to adapt and able to survive in the Premier League.

‘There are a lot of players who are written as the next star, then they go to the Premier League and they can’t cope. Dutch mentality is different to English mentality, and you have to learn a new set of rules.

‘In terms of pace, physicality, and the different game styles both you and the opponent will play week-to-week. Also the travelling, the preparation, it’s a lot to deal with.

‘When I went to Liverpool in my twenties it was like a whole new world opened. In Holland, when I was at Ajax I still lived at home with my parents and then not only was I living abroad but living by myself too.

‘It was hard not to lag behind, learning the rules of Liverpool and the English culture and the Premier League as a whole. If I was to advise Gakpo, I would say, “Choose your next club based on their style of playing.”

‘I know there have been scouts watching him, he has come to the tournament and he is fearless. Great movement for the goal and fantastic finishing. He is going to be on everyone’s wish list.

Asked by former Netherlands international Nigel de Jong if he would pay £80m for Gakpo, Cole added: ‘I would, 100 per cent.

‘Because he’s young, we know there is value in youth, if he doesn’t quite work out you are going to cut your losses elsewhere but he looks like the real deal.

‘I know it’s Qatar, I know it’s not one of the strongest nations but against Ecuador he scored, against Senegal he scored, he is affects the game and players who affect the game, that is where the value is.

‘I really like him, I have liked what I have seen at PSV and I am pretty sure there will be some offers on the door at PSV in January.’

Gabriel Jesus sends message to critics before return from World Cup

Published

on

Gabriel Jesus has told his critics that his lack of goals in recent games should not be something to worry about.

This is as he assured that he will score goals when he returns from the World Cup with Brazil in Qatar.

The former Man City star who spearheaded Arsenal’s resurgence this season, has just five league goals to his name and he is yet to score since October 1st.

Speaking to Apostagolos after Brazil’s 1-0 win over Switzerland on Monday evening, Jesus insisted that his lack of goals did not matter, saying: ‘Of course I’m the player who should score every now and then, I’m here for the goals.

‘When I’m on the field I try to score, but I also try to help. When we win, I’m happy too. To be honest, I’m not thinking about that. If I get a chance, I’ll score. I’m sure.

‘No, I don’t think [my finishing is a problem]. We can talk about finishing, but the most appropriate thing is to talk about the chances I had. It’s different football here and at Arsenal.

‘Even though I had a few chances and I lost, I’m sure it’s not about submitting. I started the season so well and nobody was asking about it. But it’s not a problem. I’ll kick the ball into the net soon and I won’t stop again.’
