Arteta given ‘phenomenal fallout’ warning if Edu sanctions £35million Arsenal transfer

Published

on

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has been warned against sanctioning a move for midfield star Emile Smith Rowe despite interest from Aston Villa.

Two bids have so far been received from Aston Villa and it is feared how the Gunners fans will react as he is well placed in their heart as one of the club’s best players.

Former Aston Villa defender Alan Hutton gave this warning to the North London outfit as he expressed fears over the reactions from fans.

The Birmingham outfit have already reportedly had two offers knocked back for the 20-year-old, with some suggestion that Dean Smith could even table a third.

The fact that Villa may offer £35million for the youngster could tempt the club into sanctioning his sale and that wont mean well for the club.

Should the midfielder be sold, Hutton is anticipating an extremely negative reaction from Gunners supporters.

Talking to Football Insider, the ex-defender said: “I thought they’d [Villa] put in another bid and it looks like it’s coming.

“I just don’t know where Arsenal are at, at the moment. I’m kind of on the fence.

“I was thinking are they going to let him go? The fans will go mental so I’m in the middle at the moment.

“If he does leave Arsenal, wow. The fallout from that I think would be absolutely phenomenal.”

Hutton also suggested that his former club’s pursuit of Smith Rowe indicates the Gunners’ drop-off in recent years, whilst simultaneously indicating Villa’s recent rise.

“It just shows you there’s a shift in big clubs at the moment. Obviously, Aston Villa are throwing about their weight,” he said.

“They’re not scared to put their money where their mouth is and they’re just attacking it.”

Smith Rowe has impressed since given first team opportunity, particularly last season – having netted four goals and provided eight assists in all competitions.

His current Gunners contract expires in 2023 but the North London club will work hard to convince him of a contract extension.

Arsenal urged beat Villa to Bissouma after £40m update

Kevin Campbell has urged Arsenal to beat Aston Villa in their race for the signature of Brighton’s Yves Bissouma this January winter transfer window.

The North London outfit want a midfielder, especially as Thomas Partey and Mohamed Elneny are away on national assignments for the African Nations Cup.

Mikel Arteta admitted that he is short in the midfield and wants to have at least, an addition.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Arsenal and Everton striker said the 25-year-old would make Mikel Arteta’s side “so much stronger” as Aston Villa are reportedly willing to sign him for £40 million.

Campbell wants the London club to meet Brighton’s valuation for the player this month.

“Don’t mess around Arsenal,” he told Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs.

“This is a move that has been spoken about for 18 months and I think we will do it. Just do the deal. Go and get him in. Pay the £40million.

“I think Arsenal need two midfielders though, if I am honest with you.

“Lokonga is a good young player but he is not strong enough to be a mainstay in that midfield yet. We need some experience in there.

“Bissouma is young and has experience. I think they need another one as well though. Bissouma would make us so much stronger for the second half of the season.”

Martin Keown urges Arsenal to sign “awesome” winger capable of replacing Pepe

Published

Arsenal legend Martin Keown has urged manager Mikel Arteta and Edu to sign “awesome” Wolves winger Adama Traore.

He has been linked with arch-rivals Tottenham as he is out of contract at Molineux in 2023.

Spurs are keen on signing Traore on loan until the end of the season, with an obligation to buy, according to the Telegraph.

For Arsenal, he is tipped to perfectly replace Nicolas Pepe who has been struggling to maintain a consistent performance for the club since his big money move.

According to Keown, the winger is perfect for the Gunners, knowing he already has an idea of the English Premier League.

Wolves reportedly want around £20million for the winger, a drop from the £50m that was requested last summer.

There are suggestions that the player will not renew his contract at the Premier League club, meaning they could cash in on him this month.

And former Arsenal defender Keown has urged Mikel Arteta to strike a deal for Traore.

“I feel Traore is awesome at times and just for once, we have the satisfaction of seeing it,” Keown told BBC Final Score.

“It’s a lovely finish from him. I’d sign him if I was a manager. Arsenal – get in and buy him.”

Former Leeds United goalkeeper Paddy Kenny has told Arsenal that the signing of Dusan Vlahovic will take the club to “the next level”.

Arsenal seek to replace Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and the Fiorentina striker has been named as a good fit.

The former Leeds United stopper, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, is positive that the striker will be able to replicate his incredible goalscoring form in the Premier League.

“He’s only 21, and for club and country, he has one in two, I mean, wow,” Kenny told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“It would be one hell of a statement. It would be a massive statement for them.

“Arsenal have really picked up this season and putting a striker like that in the team might take them to that next level.

“I think they have been looking a bit toothless in front of goal at times.

“They are missing that top-quality striker that the other big six teams have.

“If they get this guy, and I think they can, it would be a massive, massive signing for them.

“He looks deadly and if he’s scoring that many goals in Italy there is a good chance he can do it in England as well.”

Manchester United and Arsenal have been handed a major transfer boost in their pursuit of Borussia Monchengladbach star Denis Zakaria as the club’s sporting director Max Eberl made it clear that he can leave.

Both Arsenal and United have been linked with the midfielder as they are both in need of an addition.

Eberl has admitted that Zakaria is free to depart this month, leaving the suitors with the opportunity of submitting a bid.

“There’s nothing on my desk,” the Gladbach sporting director told Kicker.

“It’s not surprising that there is speculation about both of them and especially Denis, but it’s no longer our topic.

“They both still have a half year of contract. But we have also said again and again that if something comes up that we have to deal with for financial reasons.

“I cannot rule out that both will leave the club in winter – or one. There will be changes in the summer. We’ve worked with one squad for almost three years now.”

Interestingly, Zakaria was left out of the Gladbach squad that suffered a 2-1 defeat to Bayer Leverkusen on Saturday.

Arsenal star Bukayo Saka has revealed he should have been playing for either Tottenham or Chelsea because he had trials at the two clubs a youngster.

He was only able to become a Gunner because Arsenal were ‘always in his heart’, with the presence of Arsene Wenger having a big say on his decision.

Asked how close he came to being a Tottenham player, Saka laughed and told Sky Sports: ‘I remember one session, and I don’t think I went to another one.

‘But, yeah, I think it was just to go and try different clubs but we always had Arsenal in our hearts.’

Asked who else tried to sign him as a youngster, Saka continued: ‘There was Arsenal, Chelsea I was at for a bit, there was Watford, there was Tottenham.

‘Arsenal was the one I always wanted to go to. It seemed like they had a lot of faith in their youth and there was a clear pathway.

‘You could see the players coming up from Hale End to London Colney, and my dad also really believed in the project and he loved Arsene Wenger a lot.

Pundit exposes Arteta’s transfer decision he described as “stupid”

Published

Football pundit Kevin Phillip has claimed that Arsenal were stupid to let Ainsley Maitland-Niles leave without a replacement.

Phillips claimed Granit Xhaka‘s unavailability due to the dismissal against Liverpool will give Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta a “really massive test”.

“It looks a stupid decision to let Maitland-Niles leave now, you have to say,” he told Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs.

“It’s always a gamble when you let a player go, for whatever reason.

“He obviously wanted to leave Arsenal, he wanted to play. However, they’ve left themselves very light in that area with two midfielders at the African Cup of Nations.

“It’s an area that has been talked about for years at Arsenal. They’ve needed that defensive midfielder who can control games, and Thomas Partey is starting to come to the fore.

“But he’s away and to have Xhaka suspended as well, it’s going to be a really massive test for Arteta and the players.”

Maitland Niles impressed under manager Mikel Arteta and would have been a perfect replacement for Granit Xhaka who would be away for the next game but he was keen on regular playing time that was not handed to him6.

Gilberto Silva tells Arsenal fan who he will sign if he is to make a choice for Arteta

Arsenal are currently in the January winter transfer window to make some additions and that is expected to happen before the window is shut.

Mikel Arteta already called out Josh Kronke, asking him to make release the cash for some transfer activity to take place despite spending about £150million in the summer as the Spaniard’s rebuild got underway with the likes of Ben White, Martin Odegaard and Aaron Ramsdale.

“If it’s the right player, we can afford and we can do want we want to do, we will discuss it and come to the best possible decision. We are open,” he said.

“I think with the amount of things and the way we want to evolve the squad, we have to maximise every window in many different ways. We are alert. (Technical director) Edu and his team are working very hard because we know exactly what we need to do.

“Whether we can accomplish that in January or the summer is a different question and related to lots of other stuff but we are there.”

However, a number of names have been mentioned and Arteta is believed to be working on a number of deals, a fan approached former Gunners, Gilberto Silva asking him to name the player he would love to sign for his former team.

He replied by naming Kylian Mbappe and in the form of Yves Bissouma.

“Thank you for your reply. I think we would need to bring striker in to support Laca. Mbappe maybe! I also really Bissouma sorry @SeagullsSocial” he tweeted.

Howbeit, the chances of Arsenal landing the PSG star is very slim than Brighton’s Bissouma.

What Martin Keown speaks on potential Arsenal signing will impress you

Martin Keown has backing Arsenal’s attempts to bring in Juventus midfielder Arthur Melo to the Premier League.

The Gunners are set to agree a loan deal with Juventus for the midfielder with a deal expected to breakthrough in coming days.

Mikel Arteta has hinted that he is short in the midfield and will have to make some additions especially as Mohamed Elneny and Thomas Partey are away for the African Nations Cup while Ainsley Maitland Niles have been sent out on loan.

“Arsenal need to move in that area (central midfield),” says Gunners legend Keown on the move for Melo.

“(Arthur) is only 25,” Keown adds. “He was injured and hasn’t featured much but they need to get talent in that area. They are crying out for some experience.

“They’re taking Azeez back from Portsmouth; a young player I know behind the scenes they think is an outstanding talent.”

Should a deal happen in the next couple of days, Arsenal will enjoy the service of Authur Melo who is believed to have the experience to get along with the young squad.

The target for Arsenal is to have a return to European football as the team is on course but there is a need to be consistent until the end of the season.
