Arteta finally reveals the truth about January activity, fans might not be comfortable anymore

Published

on

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has finally confessed about not being aware of the extent of activities in this January transfer window because he is not sure of the financial power and position of the club.

This might let fans down, amidts expectations that a deal or two would happen.

Speaking to the club’s official website, he said “I don’t know the financial power and position of other clubs. You hear a lot of rumours as you hear about us. Some of them can be possible and some others they are not even considered.

“I think clubs are always willing to try to improve. We know that there are a couple of clubs in England now that have the possibility to buy players in January, some of them have already done. I’m expecting more activity than last year because clubs are in a better position, but I don’t know how far we’ve come still through this pandemic.”

On if it’s realistic to pull off a big-money signing without European football, he said “I don’t know. Historically this club has always been targeting the best players in the world and the best players in the world are always interested to come here and I can say that situation hasn’t changed.

“Anytime I have spoken to any player, they were so willing to come, I haven’t faced any other situation and that’s one of our biggest powers, our capacity to get the attention of people to come and join our club, it’s something that is a big advantage for us”

Despite major praise of improvement, Merson says Arsenal must make this summer transfer signing

Published

on

Arsenal’s defenders have been hailed for their performances during the preseason and the two games played so far this season.

William Saliba has been on top of the praise as the youngster gave a Man of the Match performance in the league opener against Crystal Palace.

This has made Pundit to conclude that Mikel Arteta is good in that department but Paul Merson has another opinion as he says the Gunners must bring in another defender before the end of the transfer window.

“If that’s the case, Arsenal are going to need another centre back this summer because you can’t rely on Ben White, Gabriel Magalhaes and Rob Holding. Especially if they are in the Champions League because you have to have a big squad full of quality, proven players to survive playing that many games a season.

“You need four top-quality centre-backs for a start – and they should sign one who’s Premier League ready. How long can they keep waiting for Saliba? You hear that he’s doing well in France, but that league is nowhere near as competitive as the Premier League.

“If Arsenal don’t have confidence in him to perform over here, there’s no point bringing him back from Marseille just to loan him out again. They might as well sell.”

Arsenal join Man United in race to sign interesting EPL midfielder

Published

on

Arsenal have joined other Premier League sides in the race to sign Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Moises Caicedo this summer transfer window.

Mikel Arteta and Edu have both assured that the club will still do some businesses before this summer transfer window ends and a midfielder is one of the positions being considered.

Leicester City midfielder Youri Tielemans was the main target for the Gunners but interest seems that have cooled off for his services with Moises Caicedo now being mentioned.

However, Arsenal will battle Manchester United among suitors looking to snap the Ecuadorian starlet up before the summer transfer deadline.

Brighton only signed Caicedo from Independiente del Valle in a £4.5million deal in February 2021 and he is already being linked away after impressing last season.

According to the Sunday Mirror, Arsenal and United join West Ham United, Atletico Madrid, Bayer Leverkusen and Juventus in monitoring his situation and could be picked up by the highest bidder.

Caicedo has earned his plaudits as a defensive midfielder, boasting of pace, power and technical ability. This makes it difficult for Brighton to let go of him because they have got no viable replacement and they are not under any pressure to sell.

Dean Jones reveals the truth, Arsenal yet to make any offer for reported target

Published

on

Dean Jones has revealed that Arsenal are yet to make any offer for Youri Tielemans despite reports that he is the main target for Mikel Arteta.

Youri Tielemans has been mentioned for the past months as the main target for Arsenal but the Gunners have concluded five deals since then and yet to sign Youri Tielemans.

This is after reports claimed that personal terms have been agreed upon with the player.

However, Jones is “surprised” that Arsenal have not put in an offer for Tielemans, who has been described as “divine” by Jaquob Crooke, with the midfielder being “available at a reasonable fee.”

“At the moment, there’s no offer.

“I’m surprised because he’s there and available at a reasonable fee at the moment.

“And if you’re going to get it done, you probably want to do it before James Maddison leaves or if he does leave, because they’re not going to lose both of those players in the same window. ”

Howbeit, Football.London reports that Mikel Arteta’s side are prepared to wait until the summer to secure the signing of Tielemans on a free transfer, with the 25-year-old’s contract expiring at the King Power Stadium next summer.

This might not be the case anymore if Arteta makes any midfield signing before the end of this transfer window.

Zinchenko reveals his thoughts when he heard Gabriel Jesus was coming to Arsenal

Published

on

Oleksandr Zinchenko says he never doubted that “world class” Gabriel Jesus would hit the ground running at Arsenal when report of his move to Man City first emerged.

Jesus has has had an impressive start to life at the Emirates Stadium after arriving this summer from Manchester City for £45million.

The Brazilian scored seven goals in pre-season and he marked his home debut on Saturday by scoring twice as Arsenal beat Leicester 4-2.

Zinchenko, who played with the striker at City before joining him at Arsenal, isn’t surprised by his fast start.

“Of course I wish him well,” he said. “And I never had any doubts about him, because he’s a world-class player in terms of his numbers.

“You can see it as well in how he works along with his attitude every day in training. He’s an example [to others].

“He’s the guy who is always happy for the team. The team is always first and the club always in front of any individual thing. The most important thing was three points, that’s so important. We need to be as a team.”

However Zinchenko insists the squad won’t get carried away by the early wins this season.

“It was important to get the win but we need to improve a couple of things,” he said.

“It’s just the beginning of the season and I think we need to analyse. Still we conceded two goals and from a defensive line that is a lot. That is why we need to keep going – but I’m so happy for the team and the club.

“We have an unbelievable squad. Everyone is working hard every day and everyone deserves to play. We’re an unbelievable team.

“I’m trying to do my best and do what the manager has asked me to do. We’re trying to keep the ball better, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t.”

Arsenal told they will be making a “statement signing” if they land this midfielder

Published

on

Arsenal have been told they would be making a “statement signing” if they land AC Milan and Italy midfielder Sandro Tonali this summer.

Journalist Pete O’Rourke, who was speaking to This is Futbol about the Gunners’ remaining transfer business, made this claim while noting that the Gunners have gone cold on signing Leicester City and Belgium midfielder Youri Tielemans

It is understood that Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal have been in talks with the Serie A side about a potential move for Tonali this summer, with the Italian giants telling Arsenal they will not consider a sale, unless they stump up a fee of £46.4m.

O’Rourke believes that whilst a move for the Belgian seems to be becoming less likely, a move for Tonali would really send a statement out to the rest of the Premier League.

“It looks like the Tielemans deal has gone a bit cold.

“Whether Arsenal will make a late move we’ll have to wait and see but Tonali, if they could lure him from AC Milan, it would be a real statement signing.”

Mikel Arteta has already given the hint that he will still add to his squad and a midfielder is one of the positions being considered.

United urged to copy Arsenal and be slow in making this sack decision

Published

on

Man United have been urged to act like Arsenal and be slow in making a sack decision for manager Erik ten Hag.

The former Ajax boss has had a difficult start of his spell at Old Trafford with the latest 4-0 humiliation against Brentford.

However, Man United correspondent for Goal, James Robson on his Twitter handle said Erik ten Hag should be given time.

“Obvious echos of Arsenal’s start last season & look at them now. Arteta’s plan for young players & dumping big names was backed at huge expense. Two summer windows and they are transformed. #mufc bought into Ten Hag’s vision, but haven’t given him the players he needs.

“This isn’t to say Arsenal are the perfect model or that they’ll even get into the Champions League this season. They won’t trouble City or Liverpool – but they are about as good as United can hope for unless they spend the sort of transformative money to get in contention.

“City finished third in Guardiola’s first season because the players couldn’t play his way. They spent £260m+ on a squad that already had KdB, Aguero, De Bruyne, Gundogan, Kompany, Sterling, Sane, Stones…

“That is how successive United managers thought they would be able to operate. It doesn’t excuse of wasted money wasted – but when you spend every window trying to find that one transformative signing, it leads to panic buys and an imbalanced squad.

“Ten Hag is trying to spread his v limited budget thin to bulk out his squad, with the majority put aside for De Jong. But the early signs are that it’s not touching the sides.
Existing players can’t play his way. New players are getting swamped in the ensuing mess.

“How many times can anyone remember seeing Eriksen caught in possession like he has been in a United shirt? He gets the ball and there are so few options to move it on that things like yesterday happen.

“I don’t see Rabiot changing that dynamic on his own. But really wouldn’t be surprised if he was the only other midfielder United sign this summer.”

Arsenal handed major boost as manager insists target not in his plans

Published

on

Arsenal have been handed a major boost as reports suggest that Juventus are actively trying to sell their transfer target, Arthur Melo this summer window.

The 26-year-old midfielder was previously linked with a move to Arsenal despite the club already signing Oleksandr Zinchenko.

He is still being linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium as Mikel Arteta and Edu have both made it clear that the club will still do some business before the end of the window.

However transfer specialist and CaughtOffside columnist Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Juve are actively trying to sell Arthur, who was also not included in the Old Lady’s squad amid transfer rumours.

He tweeted “Juventus manager Allegri: “We’re not including Arthur Melo in the squad as there are transfer rumours about his future, he’s also not 100% fit”

“Juve want to sell both Adrien Rabiot and Arthur – no agreement with Valencia as of now. Next target: Leandro Paredes.”

While Edu and Mikel Arteta have refused to disclosed their plans for the reminder of the summer window, it is understood that a winger and a midfielder will be the target as more players are expected to leave the club before the window is shut.

Gabriel Jesus has disclosed why he’s happy with Arsenal move, reveals what has happened to him

Published

on

Arsenal forward Gabriel Jesus has disclosed why he is happy with the move to the Emirates Stadium this summer transfer window.

Gabriel Jesus was Brazil’s centre-forward in Russia four years ago but failed to score a goal and that led him to being converted to a winger even at Man City.

However, a move to Arsenal has helped the Brazilian return as a centre forward which also helped him score more goals and that alone is a delight to him.

The former Man City star scored a brace against Leicester City at the weekend m

“I am lucky, blessed, to have the characteristics to play across the three positions in the front, and even as a second striker with another No.9,” Jesus told ESPN.

“After the World Cup, it ended up that in the national team I started to play more as the winger, at Man City too, so it’s normal as a player to take it and think that you can’t play as a No.9, and I had this in my head for a long time.

“Now I have a different mind, I believe in myself a lot more, I’m back to smiling, to having confidence playing and that’s why things are working out.

“For a long time I thought like that, but I’ve returned, the usual Gabriel, thinking that I can play as a No.9, that I’m there to finish, to help, not just to score goals, but to come short, play, get back up.”
