Arsenal have been told that Manchester City winger Raheem Sterling could take Arsenal to the next level if they sign him this summer.

This is according to former Gunners and Everton striker, Kevin Campbell while speaking exclusively to Football Insider.

Arsenal have shown interest in the forward who has a big reputation in the EPL and they are ready to explore a move for him.

Sterling has just over 12 months on his contract at the Etihad and has parked talks over a new deal until the summer at the earliest.

How relationship with Arteta during his time as Pep Guardiola’s assistant between 2016 and 2019 may help convince Sterling to consider a move to Arsenal.

When asked by Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs for his thoughts on a potential move for Sterling, Campbell said: “We would take him.

“He would be a marquee signing.

“If he came in the top end of the pitch is sorted. There would be experience and youngsters. Arteta would have pace, talent and know-how in the forward positions. We would be sorted.

“It would be a heavy outlay to bring in Sterling but if you want to be up there challenging you need players like him. He is the type of player you need.

“He’d be a brilliant signing but how feasible it is I don’t know.”

It would be safe to state that Arsenal are good as signed Gabriel Jesus from Man City even though it has not been confirmed by both parties.

The Brazilian has a year left in his contract with City but with the coming of Erling Haaland, he has decided to part ways with the club for more playing time.

Gabriel Jesus is top on the list for Mikel Arteta and efforts are made by the Gunners to sign him.

However, Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea are keen to snap up the deal and sign the attacker ahead of Arsenal but the Gunners have held their grip and have continued to lead in the race.

Reports also confirm that the striker has preferred to join Arsenal ahead of other suitors.

His relationship with Mikel Arteta while they both worked together at Etihad Stadium has also helped him to consider a move to Arsenal ahead of other suitors.

Howbeit, transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has iced the transfer saga by confirming that Arsenal have finally reached an agreement with Man City for the signature of the striker.

He added that personal terms will now be decided for the Gunners to seal a £45 million move to the Emirates Stadium.

His tweet reads “Arsenal and Manchester City have reached full verbal agreement today for Gabriel Jesus. Deal in place after new meeting – been told guaranteed fee is £45m.

Arsenal are now working on personal terms with Gabriel’s camp – final step to get the deal completed very soon.

Pundit faults Arsenal transfer business despite confirmed deals already

Former West Ham striker Frank McAvennie laments that Arsenal do not have the needed experienced players in their team as they should have.

Frank McAvennie also noted that from the signings so far, the team still have a lot to do because experience is highly needed in the season.

This is as he urged the North London outfit to immediately conclude the signature of Gabriel Jesus from Man City, noting that the 25-year-old could easily score 20-goals per season for Mikel Arteta’s side.

When asked if he thought Jesus would fit in at the Emirates, McAvennie told Football Insider: “I think he could fit in anywhere.

“I think he’d be a good signing if he went to Arsenal, I think that’s the kind of player the fans want. He can score goals for fun.

“He would be their 20-goals a season man easily because his movement is great, and he knows where to go. He’s banging in goals left, right and centre.

“So I think if Jesus came in it would be great. Sometimes you’ve got to just shoot, 15, 20 yards out you just have to shoot. Let the strikers get the rebounds.

“If I was an Arsenal fan I would want some experience coming in, somebody that can walk into the dressing room and just take over.

“They’ve not got any big players now – they’ve not got [Patrick] Vieira, Tony Adams, Martin Keown, Thierry Henry, these boys just oozed quality and class. That’s the kind of players I would like Arsenal to bring in and that’s the kind of players I think Arsenal should be bringing in.

“They’ve got enough players with potential, they should be bringing in ready-made, experienced players.”

Fans receive bashing for criticizing Nketiah’s new deal, Jersey 14

Published

Gabby Agbonlahor has blasted “stupid” critics of Eddie Nketiah’s new after he took the famous number 14 shirt at Arsenal.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England attacker insisted times have moved on from Thierry Henry and Nketiah must back himself to thrive under the pressure.

“It will add a bit of pressure but I like it,” Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.

“He’s bold in doing that. There have been players in other clubs like Joelinton who had the nine shirt, Alan Shearer’s number, at Newcastle and didn’t like the pressure so he changed. Some players can handle it, some can’t.

“You’re using Thierry Henry’s number but that was 16 or 17 years ago the last time he wore it, maybe longer. You can’t think ‘I’m not going to wear that shirt’.

“Harry Winks wears number eight for Spurs, Gazza’s number.

“I don’t think it matters. The shirt’s available, you back yourself, you’re young, still improving, why can’t you wear it?

” I don’t see the issue and I don’t think Arsenal fans will see the issue. Times move on. There’s nobody else who you think should have that 14 shirt.

“Anybody who’s commented on it saying he shouldn’t have it is stupid, to be honest.”

He was a surprise signing as the move was not known to the media until it was about to happen.

Pundit shocks fans with hints about Nuno Tavares’ Arsenal future

Published

on

Football pundit Noel Whelan has shocked the fans by stating that Nuno Tavares still has a long-term future at Arsenal and will not leave the club permanently.

While noting that the defender can leave on loan this summer, a permanent move will not be considered.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Premier League forward insisted Tavares needs to find consistent form after a “mixed” debut campaign for Arsenal in 2021-22.

“A loan move shows that there’s not too much faith in a player,” Whelan told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.

“If you are allowing him to move out on loan, that says to me you’re not overly confident that he can give you what you want in the Premier League in the first team, that’s just a given.

“Maybe a loan move is best for the player to build his confidence back up as it was a mixed bag of performances. Some were very good, some were very questionable.

“Arteta saw that. He frustrated him at times because he could see what he could do one week then we saw the worst of him the next week, there was no consistency in performances.

“That’s the question mark that hangs over him. If he can put a string of really good performances together at Marseille and shows his ability consistently then he might have an opportunity next season at Arsenal.

“For now, I think it just proves that he’s not done enough to convince Arteta he is number one choice for a full-back role, it’s not going to happen I think.

“They are doing the right thing, they are not wasting any time, they’re being open and honest and allowing him to get some regular football somewhere else.”

Mikel Arteta and Conte for another battle after Liverpool hero tells Madrid star to join Arsenal or Tottenham

Published

on

Liverpool hero Steve McManaman has asked Marco Asensio to consider making a move to the EPL and join either Arsenal or Tottenham, where he would strive.

This obviously leaves Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal and Antonio Conte’s Tottenham with another transfer battle.

McManaman, who spent four years at Real Madrid, said Asensio could become a key player at Arsenal or Tottenham and says his game would ‘suit’ the Premier League.

‘I believe Arsenal or Tottenham would be a good next move for Marcos Asensio,’ former Liverpool and Real Madrid star McManaman told HorseRacing.net.

‘I think he would suit the Premier League. He’s a good player. He definitely needs to play more. That goes without saying.

‘Isco’s leaving. Marcelo’s left. Gareth Bale’s left. I think Real Madrid are just trying to take stock a little bit. It wouldn’t surprise me if they bought somebody else.

‘They may need a forward. They’ve got Karim Benzema, Vinicius Jr and Rodrygo, but they probably need Asensio as well at this moment in time.

‘If they are to let him leave, I think they’ll bring somebody else in. They haven’t got enough forwards to let people go.

‘He’s an excellent player, he’s just not hit the heights at Madrid as he did when he burst into the team. He probably hasn’t progressed enough for them.

‘So he hasn’t really nailed down a starting position for himself. It’ll be interesting to see what he does. Real Madrid are sometimes happy to let players run down their contracts and leave on a free.

‘They may just say “stay until the end of the season, then you can go”. It will be surprising if they let him go now without bringing somebody in, it really would.

‘The way he plays, I think Tottenham or Arsenal would suit him. You don’t want to be disrespectful to teams like Newcastle, but they’re still a work in progress.

‘I think the better a team he goes for, would help Asensio. I don’t think he’s a player that you could stick in that Newcastle team at the moment and hope that he’s going to beat ten men and score loads of goals.

‘He’s not that type of player. I think he’s more suited to a well-rounded team. Tottenham and Arsenal; teams that are around the top of the league and play that style of football.’

What Eddie Nketiah said in his ‘challenge’ message to Gabriel Jesus

Published

on

Eddie Nketiah, in a message, warned potential new Arsenal team-mate Gabriel Jesus that he will ‘relish the challenge’ of extra competition and is ready to fight to keep his starting role.

Gabriel Jesus is top on Arsenal agenda as Mikel Arteta’s number one transfer priority this summer is to sign a striker that would replace both Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette.

Asked about the prospect of Arsenal bringing in a new striker, Nketiah told the Telegraph: ‘Every team needs a squad to compete. The club is always looking for ways to strengthen.

‘They have extended my deal and they have done that for a reason.

‘Whoever comes in, you relish the challenge. You make them feel welcome, and then you fight and compete.’

Meanwhile, the 23-year-old bagged 10 goals in all competitions – getting on the scoresheet every 113 minutes last season, despite his lack of playing time.

But in comparison, Jesus, who is two years older, netted 13 times in all competitions for City last season, as well as laying on 11 assists, averaging a goal involvement every 107 minutes.

Eddie Nketiah has been awarded a new long-term contract because of his performance last season while the iconic 14 Jersey, previously worn by Thierry Henry was handed to him.

One big reason Arsenal would beat United for signature of Ajax star disclosed, Pundit speaks

Published

on

It is understood that Manchester United could lose to Arsenal in the race to sign Lisandro Martinez this summer transfer window.

Reports claims the main reason is because of concerns over the Ajax defender’s height.

The Gunners have already indicated to Ajax that they are willing to pay €30 million (£25.8m) for the versatile Argentine this summer.

United have yet to make an approach but might just drop the bid as The Athletic’s David Ornstein claims that the 24-year-old may not meet their physical requirements for their defensive role.

‘Lisandro Martinez is a firm target for Arsenal for the left centre-back role and he can also operate at left-back in the mind of Arsenal,’ Ornstein told HaytersTV.

‘He’s a player that Mikel Arteta wants to sign. Arsenal have had an approach worth around €30m rejected by Ajax, that interest will not drop.

‘The question is who else is interested in him? Of course, he’s played for Erik ten Hag in the past, and there are reports Erik ten Hag would like to bring him to United now.

‘The problem is that Manchester United are focusing on Frenkie de Jong and Christian Eriksen, there may also be concerns if Lisandro Martinez is tall enough for the left centre-back role because I don’t know of Manchester United looking to do what Arsenal would like, which is to use him at left-back as well.

‘As things stand, I think Arsenal is the most probable destination for Lisandro Martinez, who is said to be keen on a move but this could have twists and turns with a number of clubs admiring such a good player.’
