Manchester United Player

Manchester United are having a terrible EPL campaign due to injury woes. Players like Lisandro Martinez, Tyrell Malacia, Luke Shaw, Harry Maguire, and Anthony Martial are injured.

Here we bring you The Red Devil’s injury update as some key players are set to return ahead of schedule.

Rasmus Hojlund is set to return against Liverpool this weekend

Exciting news for Manchester United fans! Rasmus Hojlund, the 21-year-old sensation, is gearing up for a triumphant return just in time for their FA Cup showdown against Liverpool. Can you feel the anticipation building?

Hojlund’s incredible form lit up the pitch and gave hope to the fans. Scoring goals left, right, and centre before an unfortunate muscle strain sidelined him in February. But fear not because he’s been on the road to recovery, and it looks like he’ll be back just when United need him most.

Denmark’s coach, Kasper Hjulmand, spilled the beans, confirming that Hojlund is set to feature in their upcoming matches against Switzerland and the Faroe Islands. And guess what? He’s been in touch with United, ensuring everything’s on track for Hojlund’s grand comeback against Liverpool.

But it’s not just about the FA Cup glory. United’s top-four hopes hang in the balance, and Hojlund’s return couldn’t come at a better time, especially after recent setbacks against Fulham and Manchester City.

Harry Maguire is set to return ahead of the date.

Mason Mount Set to Return

Mason Mount’s journey at Manchester United has been quite the rollercoaster ride.  It has highs, lows, and a fair share of setbacks. Fans have eagerly anticipated his magic on the pitch since he arrived from Chelsea last summer for a hefty price tag of £60 million. However, the midfielder’s been a tough road, especially with injuries throwing a wrench in his plans.

Mount’s time on the sidelines began in early November when a calf injury forced him to watch from the sidelines as his teammates battled on without him. Despite hopes for a quick return, his comeback has been delayed, leaving fans and coach Erik ten Hag anxiously waiting for news of his return.

During his absence, United has felt the absence of Mount’s spark and creativity in midfield. The team has faced its fair share of challenges, needing to maintain consistency and falling short in crucial moments. But with Mount back in training, fans have renewed hope that his return could be the catalyst for a turnaround in fortunes.

It’s been a frustrating wait for Mount, who has had to endure months of rehabilitation and setbacks. But now, as he steps back onto the training pitch, there’s a sense of optimism in the air. With upcoming fixtures against tough opponents like Liverpool and Brentford, Mount’s return couldn’t come at a better time.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka Spot in Training Ahead of Liverpool Game

Manchester United’s Aaron Wan-Bissaka has made a welcome return to training after a two-month absence due to a leg injury, missing the past nine games.

Manager Erik ten Hag hinted at his availability for the FA Cup clash against Liverpool. With Wan-Bissaka back, Victor Lindelof’s stint at left back may end, easing the strain caused by Luke Shaw’s injury.

The return of fullbacks like Wan-Bissaka gives the coach more options, as Ten Hag expressed frustration over the absence of a left back. Despite injuries to Shaw, Lisandro Martinez, and Anthony Martial, Ten Hag expects Harry Maguire to recover for the Liverpool match.

Conclusion

Good tidings to the camp of Manchester United as they are set to have a fuller camp against Liverpool. Rasmus Hojlund may return sooner than initially announced, and Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

Mason Mount has returned to training after four months without action. Harry Maguire is expected to make a full comeback at the FA Cup Quarter-final.

However, just before halftime, the script took an unexpected turn. Arsenal’s usually reliable goalkeeper, Aaron Ramsdale, was at the centre of a dramatic moment. A seemingly routine back-pass turned into a calamity as Ramsdale hesitated, allowing Brentford’s Wissa to pounce and level the score at 1-1. The Emirates Stadium fell silent, and Brentford seized an opportunity gifted by an uncharacteristic error.

The second half unfolded with both teams locked in an EPL game, and Brentford’s Ivan Toney nearly stole the show with a spectacular attempt in the 55th minute. The game’s momentum swung back and forth, keeping the outcome uncertain until the final moments.

In the 87th minute, the decisive moment arrived. Kai Havertz, with a forceful leap, met a precise cross from Ben White with his head, sending the ball into the back of the net. Havertz’s goal secured the much-needed three points for Arsenal, propelling them to the top of the Premier League.

MANCHESTER UNITED Outclass EVERTON

Garnacho continued to shine, displaying impressive dribbling skills. In the 34th minute, his dynamic run forced Ben Godfrey into a foul inside the box, resulting in United’s second penalty. Marcus Rashford calmly converted the spot-kick, extending United’s lead to 2-0.

Despite Everton’s possession, they struggled to capitalise on opportunities, with a resilient United defence thwarting their attacks. The visitors faced further setbacks, conceding two penalties due to Garnacho’s impactful play.

The final whistle left Everton without a win in their last 11 Premier League matches, deepening their struggles near the relegation zone. Meanwhile, United closed the gap on fifth-placed Tottenham to three points and remained eight behind fourth-placed Aston Villa.

The match showcased United’s determination to secure a top-four finish, with manager Erik ten Hag expressing belief in the team’s chances. Former United defender Rio Ferdinand emphasised the need for wins and reliance on other teams dropping points for a shot at Champions League qualification.

The lingering question revolves around whether United can sustain their push for the top four, with opinions divided on the team’s defensive vulnerabilities and consistency.

Alongside Ashworth, United eyes Dougie Freedman from Crystal Palace and Jason Wilcox from Southampton for crucial roles.

Man United lose two of their Summer Targets

Reports suggest that Mathys Tela,  Manchester United target, is on the verge of extending his contract with Bayern Munich.

The 18-year-old, who made a €20 million move from Rennes in 2022, has impressed with 59 appearances and 13 goals for the German giants.

Initially considering a departure due to issues under Thomas Tuchel, Tel has had a change of heart after Bayern’s directors assured him of a significant role in the club’s future.

This news blows United, who had expressed interest last summer, as Tel commits to Bayern until 2029.

Meanwhile, United’s pursuit of Benfica’s Antonio Silva faces competition from Bayern, with a potential summer transfer in sight.

Despite Silva’s hefty €100 million release clause, a deal in the region of €70-80 million is being discussed.

Bayern’s interest in Silva depends on the futures of Matthijs de Ligt and Dayot Upamecano, with United also in the mix for de Ligt, whom manager Erik ten Hag holds in high regard from their Ajax days.

Man United have to Pay £51m-£60m to sign Gleison Bremer

Man United has their sights set on Juventus defender Gleison Bremer, with reports suggesting they may need to shell out between £51m-£60m to secure his services.

There’s potential good news for United as Juventus appears open to selling Bremer, which could pave the way for United’s pursuit.

Meanwhile, Crystal Palace is preparing for the possibility of losing Marc Guehi, another target for United.

Guehi, valued at over £50 million, could attract interest from Liverpool, Arsenal, and Tottenham. United’s interest in shoring up their defense comes after a tough season, with their Premier League title hopes dwindling.

Premier League: Managers who Could Lose their Job

Published

on

ELP Manager who could lose their jobs

Mauricio Pochettino and Erik ten Hag shared more than the touchline during a match. With their recent loss against Liverpool and Manchester City respectively,  their job is now on the line more than ever.

These are the top four managers who could lose their jobs by or before the end of the season.

  • Vincent Kompany (Burnley)

Vincent Kompany‘s role as Burnley’s manager is in jeopardy as the team faces multiple challenges. They’re at the bottom of the Premier League table with just four points from 13 games, which doesn’t reflect well on Kompany’s leadership.

Despite his reputation as a defensive genius, the team’s defense is struggling, conceding 27 goals and ranking second worst in the league.

On top of that, Burnley’s attack could be better, with only eight goals scored so far this season. These issues raise significant doubts about Kompany’s ability to lead the team effectively.

It’s a challenging situation, and many fans are questioning whether a change in management might be needed to turn things around and avoid the looming threat of relegation.

Premier League: Managers

POCHETTINO

  • Mauricio Pochettino (Chelsea)

Pochettino is feeling the heat at Chelsea, especially after disappointing results. While there have been some moments of hope, like the comeback against Crystal Palace, the recent Carabao Cup final loss has cast doubt on Pochettino’s ability to lead the team to success.

Despite glimpses of potential via occasional victories, the pressure is on, especially given Chelsea’s history of changing managers quickly.

It’s a tough spot for Pochettino, especially considering the team’s current league position – 12th in the Premier League after a tough defeat at Everton.

This contrast is stark, especially considering the hefty investment of over £1bn made by Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali. Pochettino’s acknowledgement of the team’s need to improve adds to the pressure cooker atmosphere, as fans and management expect better returns on their significant investment.

  • Erik ten Hag (Manchester United)

The club’s significant investment has yielded no significant impact, and football is not just a game but a business for the sea of investors and owners involved. Since his arrival, Erik Ten Hag has spent approximately 500 million USD.

Erik ten Hag’s tenure at Manchester United appears precarious as the team’s poor performance raises concerns. With 11 league losses and dismal Champions League displays, questions about his ability to deliver results loom large.

Additionally, their early Carabao Cup exit fuels the existing bomb. The last straw that broke the camel’s back came last weekend during the Manchester derby when Manchester City showed down his side.

Premier League: Managers

ERIC TEN HAG

  • Eddie Howe (Newcastle)

Eddie Howe’s position at Newcastle is hanging by a thread as the team’s performance nosedives, with a string of defeats and a leaky defense conceding a staggering 31 goals in just 13 games.

Despite a promising start, doubts loom over Howe’s ability to steer Newcastle towards their Champions League dreams, especially as they currently languish in 9th place, trailing behind Chelsea.

While a recent FA Cup victory provided a brief respite, heavy defeats against top-tier teams like Spurs, Liverpool, and Arsenal haunt Howe’s tenure, raising concerns about his future at the club.

Conclusion

In football, success is measured in results, and the current struggles of premier league managers like Erik Ten Hag, Mauricio Pochettino, and Eddie Howe signal a need for change.

Football is a business driven by cash and passion, and there’s no passion in losing. While some of these managers have seen a better past, their teams’ current situation emphasises the need for fresh leadership to reignite competitiveness and ambition.

Whether through tactical adjustments or new managerial appointments, clubs must prioritise their long-term success.

Manchester Derby Report

Manchester Derby

In a thrilling Manchester derby, Manchester City came from behind to secure a crucial 3-1 victory over rivals Manchester United at the Etihad Stadium. Despite Marcus Rashford’s early rocket giving United the lead, City fought back with determination and resilience.

United’s goalkeeper Andre Onana performed well, which could be better. He frustrated the City’s attacks, only to give in during the second half.

City’s Phil Foden emerged as the match’s hero, scoring a brace to turn the game in his team’s favor. Foden’s first goal, a sublime left-footed strike from the edge of the box, leveled the score, while his second, assisted by Julian Alvarez, sealed the victory for the hosts.

The match showcased the local talent, with three out of the four goals coming from Manchester-born players, with Erling Haaland being the only outsider on the scoresheet.

Foden, who was dubbed the Sniper after the impressive display, and Marcus Rashford scored United’s only goal. However,  it was Foden’s brilliance that stole the show.

City’s comeback victory highlighted their resilience, as they have now recovered 21 points from losing positions this season, a testament to their character and determination under Pep Guardiola’s leadership.

Guardiola praised Foden’s impact, emphasizing his love for the game and his ability to win games, thus cementing his status as a world-class player.

Manchester City Foden

Foden

Despite a promising start and an admirable defensive display for United, the defeat was disappointing. Managerial decisions, such as Bruno Fernandes’ role and tactical setups, could have been more inspiring, and the lack of attacking threat was evident, with only three shots attempted throughout the match.

Looking ahead, City pursues the Premier League title, with crucial fixtures against Copenhagen and Liverpool on the horizon. Meanwhile, United faces the challenge of regrouping before their upcoming match against Everton.

Tactical Approach

United adopted a robust defensive strategy, marshaled by McTominay and Fernandes in a 4-2-4-0 formation. Their aim? To stifle City’s attacks and launch swift counterattacks led by Garnacho and Rashford. Yet, City’s cunning tactics, notably Stones and Rodri’s movements, proved too crafty for United’s backline to handle.

Player Ratings

Manchester City’s 3-1 victory over Manchester United saw Phil Foden shine with a superb brace, earning him a rating of 9. Goalkeeper Ederson and defenders received a solid 7, while Rodri impressed with an 8.

De Bruyne got a 6, Silva a 7, but Doku struggled with a 5. Haaland earned a six despite missed chances, and substitute Alvarez made an impact with a 7. City’s cohesive performance secured a crucial win in the title race, while United’s top-four hopes took a hit.

Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford dazzled with an early goal but faltered later, earning a 5 rating. Goalkeeper Andre Onana shone with a 5 for his errors. Defenders Varane and Lindelof earned a 6 and 5, respectively.

Midfielder Mainoo disrupted City’s play, securing a 6. Rashford missed chances, while Fernandes contributed with a 6. United’s mixed performance saw them succumb to City’s dominance.

Manchester United Manager

Erik Ten Hag could lose his job soon.

Erik Ten Hag handed Man Utd sack warning after Man City’s loss

The pressure is building up on Manchester United’s manager, Erik ten Hag, after their disappointing loss to Manchester City – and it’s not just the fans who are concerned.

One of the club’s part-owners, Sir Jim Ratcliffe, isn’t too happy, having lost two of their last four League games. This setback leaves United trailing in the Premier League standings and casts doubt on Ten Hag’s ability to compete at the highest level.

With Ratcliffe openly expressing ambitions to rival their neighbors, City, this defeat could trouble Ten Hag’s future at Old Trafford.

Conclusion

Manchester United’s early dazzle faded against Manchester City’s relentless might, resulting in a 3-1 loss. While Rashford’s rocket ignited hope, missed chances and defensive slips dimmed United’s spirits.

Meanwhile, City’s brilliance, led by Foden’s magic, showcased their title-worthy prowess. The derby drama adds spice to the season’s narrative, with City marching on confidently while United regroups for their top-four quest.

EPL Transfer Updates: Chelsea and Manchester United

EPL Transfer Update; Manchester United target

Ivan Toney is overpriced, says Jim Ratcliffe

Manchester Under the management of Erik ten Hag, Manchester United is eyeing reinforcements for their attack and has Ivan Toney of Brentford on their radar.

However, they are reluctant to engage in a bidding war, especially considering Brentford’s reported asking price of £100 million. United’s joint-owner, Sir Jim Ratcliffe, deems Toney’s valuation too high, valuing him closer to £70 million. Ratcliffe is unwilling to participate in bidding battles with rival clubs like Chelsea and Arsenal.

Despite Toney’s impressive goal-scoring record for Brentford, Manchester United’s decision-makers know his limited experience in top-tier European competitions and his relatively low international caps. Additionally, they recognize that Toney may hold little resale value in the long term.

Furthermore, the club faces a decision regarding Mason Greenwood, who is currently on loan at Getafe due to off-field issues. United must determine whether to reintegrate Greenwood into the squad or consider selling him before the start of the next season. This decision adds another layer of complexity to United’s striker situation.

Jim Ratcliffe said Mason Greenwood could still have a future at Man Utd.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe, Manchester United’s new co-owner, has hinted that Mason Greenwood, currently on loan at Getafe, may still have a future at the club.

Despite Greenwood’s tumultuous past, including a suspension and loan following behavioral issues, Ratcliffe suggests a decision on his future will be made during the close season.

EPL Transfer Update; Mason Greenwood

Mason Greenwood

Ratcliffe stresses the importance of evaluating Greenwood’s character and alignment with the club’s values, emphasizing the need to focus on facts rather than speculation.

He underscores the significance of determining if Greenwood can represent Manchester United and if the fans would support his return. Ratcliffe’s comments hint at a potential reprieve for Greenwood, suggesting the club will take a measured approach in deciding his fate.

Competition ensues on who to sign Sverre Nypan.

Chelsea and a dozen other clubs are competing to secure the signature of Sverre Nypan, the 17-year-old midfielder from Rosenborg, who has been likened to the Arsenal talent Martin Odegaard.

Despite Nypan’s commitment to Rosenborg until 2026, interest in his services remains fervent, with a host of European clubs, including Manchester United, Manchester City, Aston Villa, Brighton, Brentford, Nottingham Forest, Borussia Dortmund, RB Leipzig, AS Monaco, Lyon, Benfica, and FC Porto, closely monitoring his progress.

EPL Transfer update; Sverre Nypan

Chelsea’s transfer strategy has been influenced by Todd Boehly since 2022. It emphasizes the acquisition of young talents. However, the competition for Nypan’s signature is intense. The impending appointment of a new sporting director at Manchester United, along with Sir Jim Ratcliffe‘s oversight, adds further complexity to the transfer scenario.

Despite his young age, Nypan has already made significant strides in his career, breaking records in Norwegian football and earning recognition at the international level with appearances for Norway’s youth teams. His exceptional talent and potential make him a highly coveted prospect for top European clubs.

Conclusion

Manchester United want to bolster their attack and is considering signing Ivan Toney, but the striker’s price tag seems unreasonable, according to Jim Ratcliffe. Toney has no UCL experience and limited international caps.

In other news, Manchester United is considering giving Mason Greenwood a second chance after his tomentous off-field problem a year ago.  As part of improving the team’s ability to challenge for a significant title next season, Greenwood could be instrumental to the team’s success if forgiven of his controversial past.

Chelsea and numerous other European clubs were vying for Sverre Nypan’s signature. The youngster is tipped to be the next Martin Odegaard, making him a priority of most European teams.
